Free Agents and The Franchise Tag
NFL teams have been able to use the franchise tag since noon today and have until the 19th to use them.
Here is a list of names that may be tagged:
Matt Cassel
Nnamdi Asomugha
Kurt Warner
Karlos Dansby
Yeremiah Bell
O.J. Atogwe
Michael Koenen
Ray Lewis
Bart Scott
Jason Brown
Sean Jones
Shayne Graham
Julius Peppers
Jordan Gross
Jason Hanson
Dunta Robinson
Kelvin Hayden
DeAngelo Hall
Rob Bironas
Antonio Bryant
Jonathan Vilma
Most of these of these names are expected, though I hadn't heard anything about the Cardinals possibly franchising Warner. DeAngelo Hall's name also seemed surprising.

Which one do the Panthers franchise, Peppers or Gross?
I would love to see Gross on the Bears.
Old Style is the nectar of life.
If I had to guess, I'd say they do Gross
This would be the second time they franchise him, so they couldn’t again. If they cannot get him signed long term, he is free next year to the highest bidder and Carolina gets nothing.
Being Who You Thought We Were Since 2005!
Jason Hanson? LOL.
I'm not going to even bother trying to update this sig everyday anymore... that's what the standings column on ESPN is for.

You gotta remember....
This is Matt Millen’s hand picked man elevated to GM…
Matt Millen will continue to destroy the Tigers even from the “coaches grave” of the TV Studio.
Not that I am against that, of course.
Yes
The Lions. Martin Mayhew is Millen’s hand picked guy in the front office, who is now their GM.
Couple interesting names
I would say 5-10 of those guys will be franchised. I thought I saw the Skins signed Hall to a long-term deal. Maybe not. If Dunta isn’t franchised, he should be looked at. Obviously, Gross is the most important guy in terms of the Bears needs. He’ll get a King’s ransom though if he isn’t franchised. Although, we’ve seen baseball free agents not getting typical deals because of the economy, maybe the same will happen in football.
I don't think BB will translate to FB
Not with the salary cap. Every competitive team will spend the same amount of money (more or less).
There are no Yankees in football, who can outspend other teams 5-1 because of the cap… so there isn’t the same amount of upwards pressure on salaries.
This is a GOOD thing by the way…
Hey... you forgot Rex...
You forgot Rex on your list… he would only cost us $14 large…
