Sean Smith Video

A lot of people around here seem to like Sean Smith from Utah, for the Bears Free Safety position. Therefore, I thought I would get all of you excited about this guys potential cover abilities. I usually don't like trusting Highlight Videos, but this is impressive. And according to ChiFan he is a sure tackler. So if he can make plays like this, I think he could become a great FS.

Video

I'm not sure that I like someone saying that he should be a receiver, because Lovie might actually turn him into one.

I'd love to get him

Hopefully his stock isn’t rising too high….if it’s not, we could get him with a 2nd (bit of a reach, but so was Forte last year).

They say he's got some mad ballhawk skills.

"You win because of the quarterback. We have to get that position stabilized. We're fixated on that.

We know it's the most valuable position on the football team. We've gone through so many scenarios at that position we can write a book, moreso on what not do."

That he does

He’d be a terrific FS.

Unfortunately, my comp decided to crash and so I might lose the safety breakdown that I already wrote….but he was my #2 FS. But who knows….I don’t want to get my hopes up and have Jerry disappoint me again. lol

Wouldn't be the first time

And definitely won’t be the last

Only one play?

We should definitely draft him based on that video.

Not really

You just said…

I usually don’t like trusting Highlight Videos

I would like to see more of his cover skills in action.

I'll reply to both of your comments

First, his tackling skills are above-average to average. In space, he’s usually pretty solid, at least from what I’ve seen. He’s not going to lay the wood on anyone, but he can tackle.

About the cover skills….that’s where he’ll need a little bit of coaching. He has one main problem: He has pretty tight hips (thus slow to open and drop back). His speed allowed him to get away with his slow hips in college, but he won’t be able to do the same in the NFL. But, he does have pretty good hands from what I’ve seen.

He’s not perfect; we’re talking about a 2nd to 3rd round pick here. But I see a lot of potential in that kid.

Fair enough

You know the saying “you can’t teach speed.” You’re right, he has the size and athletics to develop into a good FS, and might be a steal in the 2nd or 3rd. I was just a little disappointed when I saw only one highlight.

You tube

Some Utah fan, who watched a lot games, on there posted that he thought Smith needed to improve on his tackling.
