Trade Possibilities
The Chiefs announced their new coaching staff this week. What they didn’t announce is that they’re planning to switch to a 3-4 defense.
News out of Kansas City is saying that they are going to switch to a 3-4 defense. However, their first round pick from last year, Glenn Dorsey, doesn't seem to fit in this system. He was a stout run defender at LSU, who would fit in nicely next to Tommie Harris. This move would solidify our D-Line at our one hole there. I know DT isn't our biggest need, but it might provide the most impact.
I would be willing to trade our 1st round pick and maybe Vasher or Hillenmeyer if needed. What do you guys think about this move? He mould be way more talented than anyone else we could get at 18.

I think your smoking that stuff again.

He doesn't fit that scheme...
I don’t see how I am “smoking that stuff again,” Dorsey is too small to play NT in a 3-4 scheme, simple as that. Why would they want to pay Dorsey all that money to be totally ineffective.
Don't trip, Aint nothing wrong with smokin' a little greenery.
I’m just sayin’, the Bears are never gonna give up a first rounder for a free agent. I’ve been known to get a little carried away myself when I’ve been puffin’ a little more than recommended.

If JA can convince the Chiefs to part with Dorsey for a 2nd rounder, then definitely.

That is an interesting thought...
but do you honestly see them giving their #1 pick, a potential Pro Bowler, away for a 2nd round pick?
A lot of teams would be willing to give a #1 to the Chiefs for Dorsey.
Plus, would we be willing to pay him the money? Probably not…
Things will get better as they improve...
Dorsey is a hoss,
a true and true grown man. But we need OLine in the first, imo. Not only would Dorsey cost us a 1st round pick, but also a ton of moolah.

I'm usually with you on O-Line...
But Oher scares me and everyone else on the O-Line is a reach at 18. And Dorsey is a beast, And could make the Bears D dominant again. Sometimes you have to spend money.
Agree w/ you
If we’re gonna trade our 1st for anybody it has to be an OL or WR. Dorsey would be nice but DT is alot less of a need than offensive tackle and receiver
"URLACHER IS GOD"
Can I have some of that stuff
Id love the trade but I think the likelyhood of it happening is a little bi less than zero.
correct me if i'm wrong
but isn’t Dorsey a three-technique DT. if so we already have Tommie Harris.

not opposed to the trade for dorsey
but the bears making any trade let alone one for a possible impact player is just so improbable…
the one trade that i keep throwing out there and i think still has a glimmer of hope is moving up to draft michael crabtree. i had thought we’d have to move ahead of Seattle (#4), but with them signing TJ i doubt they draft a WR. the next team to draft Crab may be the Bengals at 6, having lost TJ (KC may draft him at 3 tho now that they have a QB). So my idea is to swap first rounders with the browns (#5) and draft Crab. surely we will need to sweeten the deal with another pick and/or player, but if we could do this and keep our 2nd rounder to draft OLine (Duke Robinson/Herman Johnson) it would be awesome.
ps JA gettin you down…? at least there is Madden 09s Franchise mode with offseason and importable draft class(es) from NCAA09. sure it is a video game, but they spend millions of $s (unlike the bears) to make the simulation as realistic as possible.
The cap hit
on trading a 5th overall pick in his 2nd season, i’m guessing, would be something like 20 million dollars, which means this would be impossible, even if the Bears wanted him and the Chiefs didn’t.
