Jerry Angelo

JA was right and there was some truth to what he said a few weeks ago. There really wasn't a whole lot of value in the big money FAs, and right now there seems to be a FA explosion at Halas Hall. We recently signed Shaffer, and now Pace and Lucas are visiting today. It seems that some patience was a good path to take. It seems we have a shot at getting some pretty good players at a decent price. I would have liked them to bring in Housh or Coles as much as the next guy, but the deals they signed do seem to be just a bit rich for what you are getting. Really if they can get Torry Holt in as well as Pace and Lucas, some of those holes the Bears have really seem to be filling, just in time for the draft.  JA has a lot of respect amongst his peers and the guy has built 2 teams that went to SuperBowls. His had his share of misses, but he has really nailed some hits as well. Let's not forget in 2005 he put together a patchwork o-line that led to the #2 seed in the playoffs and went to a SuperBowl after that.

I'm not saying Holt would solve the Bears need at WR, but it would add a piece to the puzzle, even if he is a stopgap.

Agreed.

Afterall, Angelo is just a puppet. He knows what he is doing.
Bears fans are impatient at best. We just came off a SB in 2006, and he has a big role in making that team what it was, all with a mediocre QB.
Don’t blame JA because the owners are cheap. We will make a good team no matter what this year. And we WILL win the North. Have faith and BEAR DOWN.

Agreed

We are impatient but if he pulls off these signings it gives the Bears huge flexability. Is he freeing up vasher and draft picks to make a serious move for Cutler ? Lets hope Bear Down Baby.

Who would want Vasher in a trade?

If the guy can’t get a starting job in a cover-2 system (which asks less of it’s corners) when he has already collected on a front-loaded gazillion dollar contract, how can we expect anyone to give us anything in return?

DEJESUS!!!

yeah, worst time to trade vasher

his trade value is at an all-time low. if they sign lucas, my thought is they’re expecting (intelligently) that tillman/vasher will be injured at some point. they may also be interested in having more DBs in schemes, which i think is smart considering the fact that the d-line has sucked for 2 straight years. maybe move graham to FS? play a lot of 4 and 5 DB sets? we seem to stop the run well and get gashed by the pass, so that would help.

Zero chance that 1st round pick at #18 and an injury plagued Nathan Vasher are enough to land Jay Cutler

I’m convinced Cutler isn’t going anywhere. If he was, then it would cost a lot more than the Bears could ever hope to offer in trade.

Hill earned the starting job for the 2009 season by beating out Alex Smith, who missed last season after re-injuring his surgically repaired throwing shoulder. Head coach Mike Singletary largely chose Hill based on his play down the stretch last year: he went 5-3 over the final eight games and he also owns a 5-0 record at home in Candlestick Park.
