Kyle Orton Approval Rating
In light of the news that the Broncos will be trading Jay Cutler, I thought this would be a great time to get your ideas on how comfortable you are with Kyle Orton as the Chicago Bears QB.

Of course I support Orton going into next year as starter.
Not that I wouldn’t like Cutler to come in because I would, but I still feel Orton deserves this chance, he’s dedicated to this team and once I heard him say he considers this " his offense" I want to see him prove it, and I think he can.

Neckbeard
Does deserve this chance. I’m 100% behind him and confident he can lead this team deep into the playoffs. Instead of giving up so many picks for Cutler, why not shell the same picks out for Boldin? Orton sat on the bench for two years and studied the QB position and the system. He proved last year he can win games and lead this team, give him some better weapons and protection and we’re bound for success
ALL HAIL THE NECKBEARD!!!

Give Orten some tools and see what he can do
With an improved and more youthful O-line(yes, it actually has been improved from 2008), Hester with one more year experience under his belt, Bennett actually catching passes this season, and hopefully Maclin/Nicks/DHB/Robiske thus giving the Bears a legitimate group of WR’s, should give Orton time to find the open option in the passing game, and alleviate the pressure on our ground game.
No one should be naïve enough to think that our O-line was great last year, but Orton did pretty well(until after the Detroit game) behind a line that had more gaps in it than Michael Strahan’s front teeth. If Kyle is given time in the pocket he will be able to read the field better, and make fewer mistakes. True, he was a little gun shy after the ankle injury, but if you were behind that line with an injured ankle you would probably be a little anxious to get rid of the ball too.
If we don’t have to be the one-trick pony with the "3 yards and a cloud of dust" run-first offense, we will be able to have more effective passing plays, and hopefully will not be forced to rely on such "successful" calls as the infamous FB Dive. This should also allow our aging defense to stay off the field a little longer which was a HUGE problem last year.

Acreman is right
We need more help at WR than QB, we really dont even need another QB! Kyle gave us what we wanted and we cant give him up now.
100%
Kyle is still my favorite Bear.

I like Kyle
but i do not think he has the tools to be an elite qb
i think he is ok for the time being, but i would make a play for an elite qb the first chance i got if i was the front office
or if they got more than 1 playmaker i would feel more comfortable

That's what I want more than an elite QB
More playmakers. Hester will be better this year, as will Olsen and Forte but that’s not enough. Orton is good enough IMO to get the job done at a high level. Will he ever throw for 50 TD’s? I doubt it. Can he win a SB w/ the defense playing at a higher level, a serviceable O-line, and a true #1 receiver? I believe so.

hester will be better this year
if he is the 2 receiver
hester as the playmaker: no dice

Just don't know
we made this mistake with Grossman. the bears thought he’d get better in year two, and he got worse. i see the same fate for Neckbeard.

This is the most surprising poll I have ever seen.
Talk about settling… 73% of Bears fans are happy about having a QB that can’t complete a pass over 10 yards long.
There was an incident a few years ago. The Bulls were killing the Knicks, scrubs were playing out the clock, and the fans were screaming at them to score 100 points for free Big Macs. They took a ton of shots, Knicks took offense and they tried to fight some Bulls players.

The moment Orton solidified his position as my QB?
When he took off down the field for a tough gain and trucked a guy with a spin move instead of sliding to go down?
Was it pretty? No. Was it Gutsy? It sure as hell was.
Oh God do we need Jay Cutler....

We don't need Jaybaby
The first time things didn’t go his way he would throw the whole team under the bus. I like the way Orton takes over in the no huddle and changing plays at the line. Our offense responds well to his quick changes. Getting all the reps in camp is going to make him 100% better this year.
I like the way Jaybaby has real talent.

I don't understand...
I have never heard of Cutler throwing his teammates under the bus? Ever. Just because he wants to be traded doesn’t mean he’s a baby. Plus, did you hear him complain once last year about the IR unit that was their RB core last season or his pitiful defense? No, you didn’t so he doesn’t throw his team under the bus.
Cutler's still not a realistic option imo.
The cost in draft picks and players will be very high for Cutler. As much as we want him, I just don’t see JA making the best offer/deal. If Cleveland is dangling Brady Quinn, as some have speculated, then there’s no chance for the Bears to land Cutler. We just don’t have the firepower to make it happen. Cleveland could offer Quinn and draft picks, and then spin-off Derek Anderson to someone else to recoup some picks. Philly has 2 no 1’s and a somewhat disgruntled McNabb (won’t talk extension until he sees improvement). Say Philly offers up McNabb and a number 1 and change. Denver takes it and drafts McNabb’s replacement and is set. In both those scenario’s, whatever the Bears offer just doesn’t match up. As much as I like to see Cutler in a Bears uniform, the chances of it actually happening are slim to none…
Agreed.
Also, this gives us the most comfortable fit going into camp, having our QB comfortable knowing he is OUR GUY, with no Drama King crying behind him on the bench (even though Cutler would prob start right away if he was aquired).
I’ll say it again, give Kyle the ball. Let him be a LEADER. He has it in him, we just need some receivers around him and a better OC.
spot on post
this is exactly why the Bears don’t land Cutler. The Bears have nothing to offer other than draft picks and that’s not going to solve Denver’s immediate problem of replacing their starting QB. Cleveland is going to be involved in this trade.
look at cutler's numbers
they consider him a prolific QB, well Kyle isn’t far off
the difference= talent in the WR core
get neck some guys to throw too and i think we might have something
i’m so back and forth on this issue lol
The difference
is the actual talent that Cutler has. How many times did Orton underthrow a wide open Devin Hester last year? Plus Cutler had no running game behind him like Orton.

you can't make the argument
that the Broncos had better receivers. can you honestly sit here and say you knew Brandon Marshall and Eddie Royal would be great receivers coming out of college?

No
But you can make the argument that Marshall/Royal are WAY better than Hester/Lloyd/Booker/Davis
"The phone's for you, I think it's the Devil."
once again...
you can’t make the argument that the Broncos had better receivers. they’ve only played with jay cutler. He made an absent-minded bum in Earl Bennett look like a superstar, why should i believe Marshall and Royal are better than the Bears receivers?

are you serious?
Marshall (on the field) is a stud. Size, strength, hands total package. Gimme Royal for Hester straight up right now..
Prove It...
What are their career numbers without Cutler as their QB? They don’t have any.
And their studly offensive line too.

Kyle will not be a great QB but...
i voted no because he is simply in the wrong place to succeed. I see his best fit in places like Tennessee, Houston, or possibly Carolina. He has the Jake Delhomme syndrome; enough talent to win a few games with the right supporting cast, but not enough to do it on his own! The Bears O line lacks enough talent to effectively “run” off defensive pressure and that puts it all on Orton. He’s a smart, disciplined, team guy and should be given the chance to succeed elsewhere. This is where Cutler is a better fit for what the Bears are; or “who we thought they were” (thanks again Denny G!). Call Cutler a cry baby all you want, I have yet to hear his (now former) teammates come out trash him publicly. You cannot believe every player in that organization is so wholesome they couldn’t bring themselves to say unkind words. Bet your a$$ the entire Bears defense would be happier with Jay at QB; they may actually get to rest more than 10 min a game!
The other way
No Bronco is crying fowl that their brand new coach has run him out of town. I have to say the silence doesn’t mean he’ll be missed.
