Simms Signs with Denver

Honestly, JA, what are you doing aside from doing random interviews with Larry Meyer? Simms, who has said he wanted to play for the Bears, and JA who said he wanted to solidify the position, and a solid back-up at the LEAST, goes to another team without us so much as getting a visit. I would say phone call but we don't know I suppose. But really, what are we waiting for?! Simms seemed like a good match for us. He won't be competing for the starting job in freakin' Denver!

I like Jordan.

He is a good power back.

Hoarding players

Denver is cornering the entire mediocre free-agent market. How many signing is that now?

Prediction

Kyle Boller will be joining the Bears. And will come to Chicago and validate that he is indeed the p.o.s. that he flashed for 6 years in Baltimore.

by BLou on Mar 4, 2009 9:58 PM CST up reply actions

Ugh Kyle Boller is worse than Rex Grossman

Actually statistically they’re the same. But I am sure Boller doesn’t have a winning record as Grossman does.

by Sam Householder on Mar 4, 2009 10:34 PM CST up reply actions

Kyle Boller is terrible

But I bet he is a Bear within a couple weeks. Angelo MUST pick up a veteran, and when you look at the available names out there it is enough to make a person puke. Angelo will find something to love about Boller and bring him to Chicago. You watch.

by BLou on Mar 4, 2009 10:44 PM CST up reply actions

Rather have Losman, Leftwich, or Garcia.

Never said they were that good,

but it’s much better to have some experience at backup just in case Orton gets hurt. It could get real ugly fast if Hanie is thrown to the wolves.

You've got to be kidding me right?

At this point, you’re just guessing that Hanie will be good.

I know I'll get crucified for this

but why don’t we see what Hanie does in preseason?

I don’t think he’s going to be a worldbeater, but giving him a shot against the 1st team defense in preseason doesn’t hurt. If he’s bad, we cut him. If he’s good, who knows? I’m not counting on him to be a Tony Romo, but I do want to see if he COULD be a decent QB.

No. I'm hoping he would be good

I’d rather have someone who is an unproven 2nd string QB with some upside than a couple aging veterans who’s either a Question mark(Garcia), can never get on the field(Leftwich) or just plain sucks(Losman)

Ok

1) It 8 years ago
2) I don’t follow the patriots
3) i said “I’m sure” which does not mean I know for a fact
to answer your question no i don’t recall. i"d still prefer hanie though

doesn't...

… “i’m sure” mean that you know that it happened?

I am not trying to be an ass here… I just don’t recall anyone saying similar things when Brady came in to replace Bledsoe. I may be wrong, but I was following football pretty closely 8 years ago, and don’t remember it.

The comparison of Hanie to Brady is pretty funny.

Why MUST we sign a veteran QB?

They’re all junk anyway. It’s not like we’re a SB contender who needs a veteran backup in case of an injury to Orton.

You really want another Dave Kreig, Chris Chandler, or Brian Greise? How does that really help this team? I’d rather them draft another QB who may develop into a starter, than sign a journeyman, who will only be here for a year anyway.

"You win because of the quarterback. We have to get that position stabilized. We're fixated on that.

We know it's the most valuable position on the football team. We've gone through so many scenarios at that position we can write a book, moreso on what not do."

Rex Grossman might sign with Cincinnati

Well, good luck with that Rex. I guess Carson Palmer needs somebody new to carry his clipboard.

unless it was for a lot of money

yet another terrible non-move. nobody seems sold on orton. simms showed some skills starting for the bucs prior to the spleen injury. he’s a young veteran, was interested in coming here, and was someone angelo liked coming out of college. and…we didn’t go after him???? i get not overpaying for guys, but this offseason is just getting stupid. we have a lot of holes…they can’t all just be filled with the 4th stringers that’ll be available next week, or the draft. between lovie, angelo, babich, and turner, we’ve got more arrogance running our team than any other franchise. and we have no place having that kind of arrogance. we’re not a perennial title contender – we’re not even a perennial division contender.
