Cowboys Cut T.O.
I can't say that I blame them. It has been reported by ESPN.com that Terrell Owens has been released by the Dallas Cowboys. Now with all the high tension receiver talk, I know this will draw buzz...
Will the Bears go after T.O.?
Well, if you have been living under a rock for the past 10 years you may think... "Hey, There is a chance!". Then you don't know the Professor, J.A. But in all seriousness Good Luck Mr. Rosenhaus trying to find any team for your old, loud, troublemaker of a receiver. I would personally rather see a cheesehead on a statue of Ditka then T.O. in a Bears uniform.

Jerry Jones is as stable as an atomic bomb
and he probably doesn’t want players taking any stories away from his new stadium next fall.
Plus, they have Roy Williams and his contract, and if he plays like he did in Detroit most games, then they have a Pro Bowl caliber WR.
As JA was quoted on Housh, JA won’t go after anyone until the market determines their value. AKA: he treats all business decisions the same. He’s the kind of guy who will wait until the polar ice caps are melted and we see helpless polar bells swimming for Canadian land, clawing and dragging themselves on to the remaining ice floes like Katrina victims. Then he will buy a hybrid-engine car at market value and feel good about himself.

The only way JA talks to Owens
is if Owens will play for cheap. It’s all about the dollars for JA.

The Bears are big on locker room chemistry
no way they talk to TO at all.
We currently do not have the pass game to support his throw me the damn ball mentality.

Just read again, that Holt asked for his released
which would be a more likely option, as many have said on this blog.

He is due
a 1.5 million roster bonus by Mar. 17. They will keep trying to trade him until then.

JA is
probably sitting back waiting for him to be cut.
by luckie815 on Mar 5, 2009 10:09 AM CST up reply actions 0 recs
Why?
Then he has to compete with other teams for Holt and we all know that will never happen. I would rather him trade that comp pick for Berrian to the Rams, which is a 3rd I believe, and if they don’t take it, oh well.
by McRipper on Mar 5, 2009 10:41 AM CST up reply actions 0 recs
you can't trade comp picks
but yeah, i would definitely trade for him now

3rd for Holt?
What are you on? The Rams would be like yeah, and behind JA’s back they would whisper “sucker.” He’s going to be cut…they don’t need to give up anything.
ifuwanna- you’re right, comp picks can’t be traded.

yeah
but trying to sign him would mean contending with other teams with better offenses and more(well, willing to give more) money. I’d trade for a 3rd anyway, seeing as i have no faith in Angelo drafting third round picks.

The same teams we're contending
for Harrison, and other aging WRs?

Holt
Still has some quality years left in him. i can’t say that about Harrison or any other aging receiver on the market

There are plenty still on the market
who could play. Ashley Lelie, Tab Perry, Reggie Williams, Hank Baskett, Ronald Curry…
just to name a few…
Things will get better as they improve...

Baskett
would be a nice pickup….he’s big, and strong.

yea...
… the Bears can’t give up a third.
That would give up their opportunity to pick the next Drew Bennet. Or Garrett Wolve. Or Michael Okwo.

Might as well just give up on drafting guys with that attitude.

Might have been
but that’s a common theme around here. It’s seems like you’d be ok with giving up a 3rd rounder for a WR who’s barely got anything left to offer.

Really?
How does Torry Holt have nothing left? Explain this to me. He could have 3 legs, feet instead of hands, and be legally blind in both eyes and he would be our best WR.
by McRipper on Mar 5, 2009 8:35 PM CST up reply actions 0 recs
well if he has hands as feet
Hester could probably beat him in a foot race, but that is about all.

Again, it's a moot point.
JA won’t give up a high draft pick for him, end of story. Hopefully he does inquire about his services as soon as he hits the open market. That’s a big “if” though.
