An Entire Offense of Running Backs

Has anybody noticed that the Denver Broncos signed three running backs this month? This brings their grand total to 9, just two short of fielding an entire offense with one position!

I am surprised that Josh McDaniels and company need so many new options when last year was an injury-ridden year, and that's not likely to happen, statistically, annually.

There could be some cuts that we could consider brining to training camp. Inexpensive players, but players who have shown something on the field. I know there's a lot of love for Garret Wolfe, and he's shown some glimpses of his speed --but...they have to release some of those RBs. Perhaps Selvin Young, ha.

By signing Lamont Jordan to a two year contract,

the Denver Broncos have signed 11 players to a total net contract of 5 million dollars less than the Redskins spent on Albert Haynesworth…

And 10 players more than the Bears have signed… :)

By signing so many backs for so cheap

they can in effect cut a few of them during training camp at a minimal cap hit. I’m surprised you don’t see more teams doing this.

For instance, I am sure there are plenty of low level offensive linemen that we haven’t even talked about. If we aren’t going to go after a Faneca type FA, then sign 2-3 more to 1-2 years contracts, bring them to camp and cut them if they don’t work out.

Same thing with receivers. There has to be a guy we can bring in for cheap who can catch better than Davis.

The reason is

JA doesn’t want to cut down on their reps……… :(

Well since some are holdovers

From the old regime it will be no surprise if a lot of them don’t make it. None of them were really franchise-type backs and McDaniels does what all old assistants do when hired elsewhere; they raid their old team of UFAs.

lol, Tampa Bay is still

Tampa Bay, I updated my Madden, and with Ward, Cadillac and Graham, they have 3 RB’s that are mid 80’s as their talent, lol. But I also did Denvers and Correll Buckhalter came down to be their top ranked back.

Broncos

Have effectively cornered the entire mediocre free-agent market. No real difference makers there, with maybe Dawkins being the exception.
