Angelo the professor- part trois
In this latest, third installment of Q&A with very pro-Bear Larry Mayer, Dr. Angelo discusses how the Bears like to conduct business. He also touches on the recent visits of Pace, Lucas, and of course the topic of the whiny QB Jay Cutler. Here's an interesting quote from the professor himself.
We understand the rumors that are out there and we know it is great fodder for the media and our fans to talk about.
It seems as if he's stopped by WCG and seen us in the flesh. Nice!

Good jorb
once again on keeping up with this.

Question for Jerry
Say Jerry, when are you going to be honest and come out with the real dope on Chris Williams? Kind of curious that you’re in hot pursuit of Orlando Pace after the latest minicamp. Is Williams YET ANOTHER first round bust in the assessment of the organization, and/or is his back way more screwed up than you have been telling us?

His happiest day for sure.
The pic looks like it’s from the NFC championship game.

It was also the only time...
…the guy ever came out of his office or stepped on the field.

A few interesting bits from the interview:
On moves that the Bears may or may not be trying to make:
Some moves we explore become public and many others do not. Our preference would be for none of our discussions to be known until after they are complete.
On draft flexibility through free agent signings:
It obviously gives us more than what we would have had, but that doesn’t mean that we wouldn’t take an offensive tackle if we felt he was the best player on the board.
On bringing in players to Halas Hall:
By league rules we’re allowed to bring in 30 players, and the visits must consist of a physical examination. We choose these players based off of different criteria; mostly they’re players we like as potential draft picks or as college free agents who weren’t invited to the Combine

Whoever they feel is the best player on the board...
is usually the crappiest player on the board anyway.

We know it's the most valuable position on the football team. We've gone through so many scenarios at that position we can write a book, moreso on what not do."

I just wonder if that comment was a Freudian slip.
I hope we aren’t looking to draft the best available. I hope we will draft an OLineman. Hell, even draft up to get an OLineman. We need long-term solutions to our OL… and “best available” ain’t gonna cut it… not with this year’s talent.

What does it matter...
Lat year there were 6… count them 6… top o-lineman on the board. We took the one who didn’t start a single friggin game all year long, while the other 5 became instant starters.

We're talking 1 out of 6 here...
6 friggin guys to choose from, and they still got it wrong.

Lmao
It’s still too early to say they got it wrong (long term).
But it does suck that we got 0 games out of a 1st round pick.

So...
If you had your choice are you hoping Oher falls or reach for Britton. Or is Britton not a reach at this point?
And yes it totally sucks we got 0 starts outta CW but I still take him over Otah and Brown at least, if not Alberts who started on an awful KC line. We made due with St. Clair. And last year is not enough to write CW off.
And I have always thought JA takes his best available regardless of any thing. Help me out if I’m wrong but has JA ever reached for need in the first. Not giving the guy a pass, but he doesn’t seem to reach for need.

He only reaches on guys from DII schools in 2nd and 3rd rounds
