WCG Mock Draft - The Denver Broncos Select...

CURRENT SELECTION

Peria  Jerry
Ole Miss
Defensive Tackle

ANALYSIS:  Peria Jerry. The Broncos have an advantage with the Bears pick at 18. They get to scoop up the next best DT in the draft behind Raji before the Colts are able to. Jerry's most notable accomplishment was last year when he stopped Tim Tebow on a fourth and one to seal an Ole Miss victory over Florida, in a year where he racked up 7 sacks. The Broncos have a chance to pick up a versitle lineman, who played DE, DT, and NT throughout his career. He was also noted as being an emotional Ray Lewis type leader amongst his peers, something that may be lacking within Denvers locker room. Injuries might be a concern. Jerry's had a history of foot problems his freshman and sophomore seasons. at 295 pounds, he needs to add more bulk to his frame.

OK folks... Who would you have picked for the Bears at this spot

Look who’s left on the board, and make a pick for the Bears (assuming the Cutler trade had not gone through).

Personally, I think you would have had to look at Mark Sanchez right here, he’s still on the board… or Percy Harvin (who is expected to fall some where around this spog).

What say we all?

Then who...

No is easy to say… feel free to jump right in with the right choice then :)

ok

Why go with a rookie QB when you have a QB(Orton) Who can get the job done. also consider the fact that Sanchez played only one full season as starter and wouldn’t be a first rounder if other certain QB’s decided to go pro this year. Percy Harvin is suspect because he played in the spread offense in florida. he might be explosive, but his injury history and size is a risk. at 18, he’s not even the best receiver left on the board. I’d rather pick DHB or even Hakeem Nicks.

Ummm

Because Orton isn’t the long term answer, and Sanchez is a great value at the spot… we are going to eventually have to fix the QB question, and Sanchez has all the tools.

Personally, I don’t like any receivers at this spot as far as value goes… I would trade down… each of them has issues, really the only receivers I like at first round money are already gone with Crabtree and Macklin… I think the rest of these guys are much more attractive late in the first or even the second round.

Orton isn't the long term answer?

The HC of the Broncos feels differently than you by all reports.

What is he supposed to say?

Hey, the guy who we traded for and who is likely going to be our starter last year sucks?

by sabbath999 on Apr 13, 2009 3:45 PM CDT up reply actions

He spoke with action, not words.

He had the option to choose other QB, but he chose Orton out of all the options. You can also read the new CNNSI MMQB article that notes that he really loves Orton and doesn’t see him picking up a QB.

LOL

All the options, like Luke McCown, Kellen Clemens, and Tavaris Jackson? I’d take Orton too. Maybe Campbell would have been intriguing, but apparently it takes him wayyy too long to learn an offense.

Pass

I appreciate the discussion, but we just got our first fanchise QB in how long? I’m not thinking about what future player on somebody else’s team we would have taken with our #18 pick.
