Most Hated Announcers

So reading through the John Madden retiring thread was pretty hilarious.  I hate John Madden, I love John Madden, I hate Cris Collinsworth, I love Cris Colinsworth, and so on.  It got me thinking, who was the most annoying announcer on TV.  Who do you hate the most to listen to?

Here is a small list of football announcers to choose.  Tell us who you voted for and why you hate them.  Also feel free to debate with others about their picks.

Really? I'll add him to the list, but I think he is pretty solid and doesn't have a ton of haters.

He is like a Costas. I couldn’t imagine him having tons of people that hate him. A few, but not many.

Kick it to me... I'm open!

Thanks for playing better luck next time

Buck is one of the few announcers that can actually cover multiple sports and not be mediocre at either.

He actually makes Aikmen tollerable, so obviously he’s pretty damn good!!!!

Me personally I have to go with Phil Simms

The guy is a know it all who says the wrong thing all the time. He consistently doesn’’t know the rules. Misdiagnosis what just happened. He is guessing like crazy and says it like it is Gospel. If you are wrong, fine, but if you are going to act like a know it all, you need to be right more than not. Oh and he’s arrogant.

Tony Kornheiser

He adds nothing. We could put any one of us in his spot and have better commentary than what he brings.

I remember the monday nighter

carolina vs. tampa. Jake Delhomme throws a pass to Dwayne Jarrett. Kornheiser then say “I guess you can say, He went to Jarrett?” I swear, I wanted to punch him right in the mouth for his stupidity. Every time i watch MNF, Tirico and Jaworski look like they wanna tie him up and gag him.

I especially remember him in soldier field Bitching about how cold it was huging himself like he’s about to catch hypothermia. what a spaz.

I don't like Collinsworth either,

but not because he doesn’t know what he is talking about. He has just gotten very arrogant over the last few years. Nothing like the first few years when he was fun to listen to. It’s like he established his credibility, then turned into a pompous a-hole.

Bryant Gumble

Clap, Clap….Clap Clap Clap!!!

This was by far the worst experiment that the NFL Network could have done.

Not only did he fumble through the broadcasts, but he didn’t know the players(and I don’t mean the 3rd string waterboy).

He was way too highbrow, elitist, and condesending, and that was on his good games.

if I didn’t have to listen to him so much last year. During the OU – Texas game, Musburger loved OU in the first half, then switched his tune at halftime and had a major crush on Texas. I mean, I could care less if someone is rooting for a team to win, but fer God’s sake, keep it consistent.

Tony K and Jow Buck

They both suck, I can’t stand Buck I think he’s an idiot and he just annoys me.

TONY K. I like him on PTI but once he’s in the MNF booth, NOPE. He just rambles on and tries too hard to make everything dramatic or funny. I have hated him especially since our famous MNF game against AZ in ‘06. The entire first half he is just trashing us as an overrated team who sucks and didn’t deserve any credit and the Cards as the greatest team to ever take a field and they were on their way and Leinhart was Gods gift to the NFL, etc. Then as soon as the tide turned and we were coming back he’s acting like Urlacher is God’s gift to the world and that Leinhart is a USC castoff terrible player and that this should have been expected all along.

Theisman

I literally wanted to reach through my TV and strangle him myself. He had that whiny voice and insisted on arguing with everything Mike Patrick and Paul Maguire said. I am not a big fan of Madden either because he either talks about stupid shit or states the obvious.

Ugh ESPN Sunday Night Football

I nominate them for the Worst Broadcast Crew of All-Time. I hated Theisman and Maguire and Mike Patrick didn’t do much for me. They were also bad about swinging with the tides, I remember during the game against the Falcons in 2005 they went on and on about how the game would be no different if Grossman was playing over Orton and then when Grossman came in in the second half and we started scoring they were ranting about how great he was and it was just what the Bears needed.

He's coaching a small college team up here in Portland...

Portland State University. Before that, he was D Coord. at Hawaii working for his former Falcon D Coord June Jones. But he came to PSU in 2007…

A lot of folks don’t like Glanville, but I have had the pleasure of sitting down with him a few times, and I can tell you that the man knows his business. He is a great football mind, and one of the nicest, most genuine people I have ever been around.

Regardless, he was quite a character on tv, and rubbed a lot of people the wrong way… so I understand your sentiment.

all announcers who insist on making horrible puns about peoples names. Like they’re the first one to come up with it.
