Breaking news Bills and Eagles mega deal
Jason Peters to Philly for their #1 and #4 this year and a 6th next year.
Wow! A 1st and a 4th for a tackle. Not saying it's too much but that is a hefty price. (albeit for a very important position)
The Eagles have two first-round draft picks and would surrender the second, or 28th overall, in the deal for Peters. Initially, one source close to the Eagles said, Buffalo considered making the trade for a first- and third-rounder this year but, in the end, held out for three draft picks to give the Bills more flexibility.
Peters, who has two years left on his contract with Buffalo, had been seeking a long-term deal with the Bills that would average $11.5 million to $12 million a year, sources said. The Bills had been in talks with him since he returned last September from a holdout but had made such little progress that the club recently resolved to consider dealing him.
Sources said the club never had serious offers until late Thursday, when the Eagles approached them about making a deal.

I think the price is good, Peters when healthy and in shape is a heck of a LT

Peters gave up the most sacks in the League last season

Not being in shape
Is this not a warning sign of his character?

Seems steep to me...
I tend to associate first round picks with trades involving impact players at the skill positions, the (ofetn-overhyped) household-name-types…

Trades are rare in the NFL
can’t remember the last time two huge trades went down in the same offseason!
Guess Philly isn’t going to get Boldin now. :-P

Unless they get a new CBA really soon
I think we will. People want to get their players and lock them up before the non-cap year.

There is one possible suitor
out of the picture. Maybe the removal of Philly from the picture will change Arizonas asking price. I know its a long shot for us to land Boldin, but if a few more things happen, or dont happen, you might see a 2nd rounder and mark anderson for boldin just cause thats all the Market can muster. Now I dont really recall what other teams had interest in Boldin, but you have to assume their offers will probably be less now with Philly, who was the most likely fit now not having a first to deal. This could get interesting.

Probably not
I think Boldin goes to the Ravens. Just a hunch. They are looking at WR in the 1st anyway and why not trade it for Boldin?

Yeah just some wishful
thinking on my part. The idea of giving up a first rounder for Boldin makes sense but they want a 1 and 3 for him, I just think it will be interesting to see with Philly out of it and the Giants goin for Edwards if the other teams out there will be willing to do that. The Ravens have lost some guys on defense so they might not mind parting with their 1st but might want that 3rd to help reload.

Good points
The Ravens D is definitely getting older but they still have 3 very HUGE keys to their defense: Haloti Ngata, Ray Lewis, and Ed Reed. Throw in Suggs and they will be just fine next year. I think the Ravens feel they are close and it was their impotency on offense that ended their season last year. I think the Ravens make the deal for Boldin. Again, it’s just a hunch.

Eagles still have a 1st and a 3rd left
which is apparently what the Cardinals wanted for Boldin and the Eagles would still have a 2nd round pick to spare.

One more team
The Eagles are just one more team looking for a receiver with one less pick in front of us. Put this together with the possibility of Edwards going to the Giants, and maybe Boldin going to the Ravens, and all the sudden a lot of teams looking to draft WO’s, will address other areas in the draft. Maybe it’s a stretch, but all these trades could send Hicks, Britt, or Robiskie, or all of them deep into the second round.

Doubt it
The 2009 draft is weak overall and devoid of a lot of depth. There will undoubtedly be a big run on wide receivers toward the end of the 1st round and into the 2nd round. I see no chance that Hicks, Britt or Robiskie is around by #49.

Buffalo is a team on the definite rise
Dick Jauron has something good going with the Bills. The defense is going to be one of the better ones in the NFL and they appear to have a solid QB in Trent Edwards. Lee Evans and Terrell Owens is also one helluva wide receiver tandem.

Peters is the most overrated tackle in the NFL
most Bills fans that I’ve heard from are ecstatic.
