Bears colors run in our blood and I couldn't agree with everyone more.

Ya know, I live in Fort Wayne, IN. and everytime I even see someone with our colors and logo supporting our historic franchise, I cant help with saying something to them to show we are brother’s by football. What a Great Fricken Day!!!

Prediction

Olsen Gets 85 receptions for 1100 yards. Cutler uses his tightends pretty well. I really like us on offense. Cutler, Forte, Olsen, Des Clark, Hester. Only thing missing is a big receiver opposite devin.

Don't forget that Earl Bennett was Cutler's primary target at Vanderbilt.

There’s a lot to be said about having chemistry with your receivers.

totally agree

I think Bennett is going to show why he is the SEC’s all time leader in receptions now that Cutler is there.

anyone else...

… a little worried that signing Pace is a sign that the Bears are not at all confident in Chris Williams?

i was never confident in him.

however, i think they just want to give him time to develop. IIRC, he was kind of a project pick.

a horrible horrible project pick (IMO) as i say, don’t take the fourth guy in the first round.

2. injuries kept him from his full potential.

by ifuwannacrownem on Apr 2, 2009 8:36 PM CDT up reply actions

Right, McMahon has been the best I have ever seen with the Bears although...

He had a receiver in paticular named Willie Gault that left everyone behind. Those were good times..real good times!!! What a day to remember, JA did his job.

by Bears fan 4-ever!!! on Apr 2, 2009 8:52 PM CDT up reply actions

are you serious?

So by that standard, Jim Brown wasn’t one of the best running backs ever? OJ Simpson is out too. Hell…. by that standard, Walter Payton couldn’t match up with current running backs.

There is no way that you can say that Jay Cutler, at this point in his career, is better than Sid Luckman was.

Basically you are saying that Cutler is the best QB of this era. That may be true. But he surely is not the best QB the Bears have ever had.

Actually

Luckman was part of the revolution that was the forward pass. The T formation was so revolutionary because you could easily run or pass our of it, and Luckman was successful because he was capable of doing both. That’s why Halas went to get him.

by torch on Apr 3, 2009 6:00 AM CDT up reply actions

The fact that Luckman is the best QB in Bears history is precisely the problem

Cutler completed more passes last year, than the Bears all-time record.

Working out the O-line

Two weeks ago the only tackle on our roster who had ever started an NFL game at the position was Omiyale, who had one start for Carolina against the Saints. Today we’ve got two veteran tackles, plus Chris Williams and Omiyale as a utility guy and possible starter on the interior.

I dunno what this means for Williams, but my guess is that Shaffer wins the RT job and Pace is the LT, with Williams learning his trade as a backup this year. If Pace is your starter, then you know your backup is going to get some starts.

Wouldn’t surprise me if Omiyale wins one of the guard spots.

And the prevailing wind happens to be blowing from Vichy.

Ok, everything's coming up roses it seems

is there any downside about with this that we can find? Anything? After all these years of disappointment I’m trying to find the cloud in the silver lining, but I can’t seem to find it. *Draft picks being gone would normally suck but we blow all of our 1st round picks every year anyway;
*Orton being gone might suck if I hadn’t watched him play that last month of the season (granted he was hurt);
*Cutler’s productivity is lights out compared to anything we’ve had in a while

Is there a downside?

I’m curious to see how the O-line shakes out during OTAs and training camp. I sure hope CW doesn’t turn out to be a colossal bust. If not, does Pace move to the right side?

O-Line

good point – I wonder how quick of a trigger they’d be on for moving Pace to the right side, if ever. I also worry about the defense getting another year older, as it was hardly ‘formidable’ last season.
