I want to punch Mark Schlereth in the face

I'm watching ESPN right now (11:20PM CST, 4/2), and all he's doing is going on and on about how the Bears are a bad offensive team, and have too many holes to fill, and this prevents them from doing that, and this is a bad move that will doom them to mediocrity.

Here's what I say to that, Mr. Schlereth:

First off, all I heard last offseason was how the Bear's offense was going to be awful.  Not just bad--HISTORICALLY bad.  Now, I'm not going to say our offense was good last year, but it was much better than ANYONE suggested it would be.  Now, we've added a top flight QB, but somehow this won't help?  Uh uh.

As for too many holes--I'm sorry, did we finish 3-13 last year?  No, I believe we were 9-7 and one game out of the playoffs.  That doesn't sound like we're that far out.

And hey--even if we were bad, doesn't everyone always say you should build around a good QB?  Well, I think that's what we're doing!  Even if we do crash and burn next season (which I doubt), wouldn't you want to have Cutler going into next season?

Geez...now Marky Mark is saying we're 3rd in the North, "just above Detroit".  It's like these guys don't actually watch the games.  I'm going to stop watching this before I get really mad.

I usually agree with him...

but he sounded like a complete moron today. Did he really say the Bears got worse?!?! HAHA!! What a Joke! Because they gave up Orton, 2 first round overpriced – unproven draft picks?!

Take a look at my “Did the Bears give up too much?” post and you’ll see what I mean.

so sick of hearing this
No, I believe we were 9-7 and one game out of the playoffs. That doesn’t sound like we’re that far out.

the bears were not a good team this year. NOT GOOD. whether they missed the playoffs by 1 or 6 does not change that. there is just as much reason to be wary of this as there is to be excited.

i am excited as hell but you know what, i understand this could still be a disaster.

So Sad

All that Orton could do with a real coach… I hope Chicago gets Shanahan next year or else there is no chance that Cutler will be happy without his dad.

They weren't good

But they weren’t bad. And I think they were closer to good than bad.

by TCBullfrog on Apr 3, 2009 10:15 AM CDT up reply actions   0 recs

This is hilarious.

I just came on here to make a “I hate Mark Schlereth” fan post and what do I see but someone has beaten me to it. Schlereth and Dilfer have been completely against the Bears’ odds with Cutler because they want to complain about what they think his behavior was like towards the Broncos. Very annoying. And we’re 3rd in the NFC North right above the Lions and Aaron Rodgers is a better QB…man this is ridiculous.

Orton?

Why does no one think Orton is at least as good as Cutler? Jeff George vs. Steve Young. John Elway vs Joe Montana. Different times but the reality is that perseverence prevails and coaching prevails.

by CutlerSuxBalls on Apr 3, 2009 1:38 AM CDT up reply actions   0 recs

huh?
Why does no one think Orton is at least as good as Cutler?

Why? Its pretty simple. Cutler is a good quarterback. Orton is not.

And I have absolutely no idea how Jeff George, Steve Young, John Elway, or Joe Montana are at all relevant to Kyle Orton being, at best, a mediocre quarterback.

He blocked for Elway himself who, if I’m not mistaken, said he WOULD NOT play for the Colts when they drafted him. Now that’s classy and mature.

Mitch Bade

Kyle Ortons smarts and toughness made your offense good. Cutlers pouting led to game ending picks. Cutler has the opportunuty to be the next Jeff George in the fine city of Chicago. When his contract is up in 3 years he will be gone. Maybe Shanahan could go to Chicago to help, but even Farve couldn’t hack it in soldier Field. Cant wait to see how many picks Cutler throws this year.

Cause I am a Bears fan that lives in Montana

I get fed Denver BS 24/7 cause they are the only team in the MT time zone. Cutler is really no different than Orton—other than arm strength.

And obviously

In Montana they don’t teach you how to use the reply button. If Cutler and Orton are no different, other than armstrength, why exactly does Cutler suck balls?

Shut.... the.... hell... up, please.

You bring no valid points and you are coming off as a degenerate 5-year old that is whining and moaning because YOUR favorite team (not the Bears) lost one of the few, reliable weapons on YOUR favorite team.

You aren’t a Bears fan. You aren’t fooling anyone.

Cutler is such a ‘BAAAAD’ quarterback right? With no maturity (just like yourself)?

He was a one-man offensive machine last year. Without Cutler, the Broncos give the Lions competition in the pits of the league. Every single team knew that Denver was going to use Cutler as their primary weapon because they HAD no other weapons. Yet, why couldn’t the rest of the teams stop him? Skill, maybe? Cutler had NO help behind him seeing as though every HB that was thrown onto the field found away to hop onto the IR.

A BAD quarterback doesn’t throw for over 4,500 yards and 25 TDs in a single season without a decent HB.

Face it, you lost your quarterback. Be a man

Stop pestering people on another blog and and embarrassing yourself while doing so, with a ridiculous, childish name.

If you WERE a real Bears fan and a member of this blog you would have sent your opinions under your original WCG name (which you don’t have) and be a man.

Go away, stop wasting your time along with everyone elses. Don’t let the door hit you.

"It's hard to win 97 games, it's hard to win the division. Our attitude is if you get in every year, you get in most of the time, sooner or later you are going to knock that door down." -- Jim Hendry

Orton is Solid and Chicago got hosed. Jeff George. Why wasn’t there a trade with Philly? McNabb is a winner. With a real defense—not Phillys—there is a REAL chance for success.

Here is the deal people,

Mark Schlereth played for both the Broncos and the Redskins. He is just being a pissy little beotch because both of his old teams got hosed in the Cutler sweepstakes.

If Cutty would have gone to the Skins he would have been heaping praise on the deal no matter what agreement.

He is the only nay-sayer if have heard and Dilfer doesn’t want to rock the boat so he just goes along with what Schlereth says.

Who cares what any rubes on TV or the trib say, rejoice people! This is a good thing for the Bears.

Mark goes on to say that the Bears haven’t done anything with their OLine to make Cutler a better player, and that “Cutler will regret becoming a Bear when he is laying on his back looking up saying, "Man, why am I in Chicago?”
This guy is a total HOMER. And he and Trent might be lovers.

by Bearsguy34 on Apr 3, 2009 7:44 AM CDT reply actions   0 recs

Stink is just wrong

That’s all. Doesn’t make him evil — just a poorly informed perspective on the team.

Bears could have finished between 6 wins and 11 wins in 2008, and in neither case would they have been a truly good team. They were an OK team, like most of the league, and they had an OK QB when Orton wasn’t limping. There were two surprises last season: The offense played much better than most of us expected, and the defense flopped.

I suspect Stink is down on the Bears because of the O-line, but I actually think we’ve improved it. Significantly. And we did it without breaking the bank or using a draft choice (yet). Pace is better than St. Clair. His health isn’t an enormous issue because we’ve got a young LT playing behind him. Shaffer had a down ‘08, but Tait really struggled last year at RT. Use Omiyale as a starter at guard, and I think you’ve upgraded three of five OL spots while improving your depth.

If the team acquires a veteran WR in the offseason to start opposite Hester and finds a couple of defensive and ST contributors in the draft, then I’m counting on coaching changes to improve the defense and a legitimate multi-threat QB to vastly improve the defense.

And then Stink will have to say that he was wrong about these comments.

And the prevailing wind happens to be blowing from Vichy.

by xarker on Apr 3, 2009 9:08 AM CDT reply actions   0 recs

Complete and utter hyprocrite!

Whenever addressing the Bears, he would always talk about their long-term problem at the QB positon. As soon as they land a top-10 QB, he says they gave up too much. He also goes on how he loves Orton, and how he’s a great leader, etc. He never once mentioned that about him until after the trade. He’s truly a Bear hater and deserves all the scorn of Bear fans.
