WCG Mock Draft - The Tennessee Titans Select...

CURRENT SELECTION

Vontae Davis

Illinois

Cornerback

ANALYSIS: You've got to be kidding me? As a whole-hearted Bears fan who follows TN having lived in Nashville for a time, I've taken a shine to the team. Great fans, great people, great team. They are about as close to a Bears mindset as you can find in the AFC. Hard nosed defense. Sometimes inept offense that "gets off the bus running". These guys inflict damage on defense and play to the whistle, but they do have a few holes. Those holes are as follows. WR. CB. LB. Let me put it like this, one of their best receivers is someone that we got rid of. They aren't exactly stacked at CB and one of their best CB's is going to be somewhere around 90 this year. They have pretty good LB, but could use someone at MLB to help sure up the line D having lost Haynesworth.

So where am I going with this pick? I don't think I have a choice to go anywhere but Vontae Davis from Illinois. The value is just too great and fits so well with their needs to go anywhere else with this pick. Is it likely that he'll be there on draft day? Nope, but if he is the trigger has to be pulled.

Vontae Davis is fast clocking in at sub 4.5 speed, but even more important he's known for having good fluid hips and changing direction very well. Zero durability concerns, combined with the fact he's great in run support makes him the young hard nosed extremely talented CB that the Titans should make a wish to a genie to grab this late in the first round.

Great analysis of the Titans

I agree that the Titans are the most Bear-ish team that can be found in the AFC. Not too surprising considering Jeff Fisher was drafted as a Chicago Bear and has a Super Bowl XX ring. Yes, I know he was on injured reserve that year, but as I understand it, he got the ring.

I had a chance to see a couple Titans home games in 2007, I had an office in Nashville for about 6 months. Nashville is a fun city and an absolutely great place to see a game.

At first, I thought that Vontae would have been gone earlier than 30th pick. Now I kinda get the feeling that he is falling a little bit.

Seems like this Mock draft should be as good as any other, probably better.

I just saw on one of the competitor sites, Stampede Blue, their mock has us taking Robiskie at 49.

i'm with you. besides the bears i root for the titans

my wife and i have liked them for many years and here’s why:

my wife who doesn’t really follow football at all was in a pickem league in 1998. For some reason or another she starts picking tennessee. they end up 8-8 but they end up something crazy like 14-2 against hte spread and my wife, on the strength of those picks wins the office pool.

cut to the next year and she does the same. they were much better that year so they didn’t do as well as they did the previous year but she still picked them. we followed them all the way and cheered then on through the music city miracle through the super bowl.

long story short, we still follow tennessee.

don’t get me wrong, i’m still bears #1 all the way but if there was another team…

That is so cute!

:)
And P.S. I mean it, I’m not making fun. :D

"A lot of fans were drawn to me because they knew that whatever the score was, I was going to run as hard as I could on every play. You don't have that now, you have guys waiting for next week or even next year." - Walter Payton

hey man, I'm with you

I’d love to see Jeff Fisher get a superbowl ring on his finger. I think he deserves it. much like I hope Jerry Sloan wins the NBA Championship. those guy’s deserve it.
