MVP and Jim McMahon should not belong in the same sentence

Say what you want,
without Jim McMahon the 85 team would not have had the same swagger. McMahon was awesome!! Sure he was hurt most of the time, because he played the game like a fullback. Maybe it wasn’t the smartest method a QB has taken to his job but, it earned the respect of his teammates. Hell man, he used to headbutt his O-line after a touchdown. You may actually like McMahon for all I know. Ultimately I would put MVP in the same sentence with Jim McMahon anytime.
GeoMak, is that you?

I agree, Mr. rdent4hof
Passion For The Game, Loyal To The Name, Chicago Bears, I Trust In Thee, Standing Strong Since 1983.
Big difference
between being a great team leader and a MVP. I love McMahon, but I will never mention him for MVP with his injury record, nor his 56 comp percentage, or his career sub-80 passer rating.

Mr. McMahon's purpose was fullfilled in Chicago.
Without him, there is no 85 Bears, the greatest team ever, period. I don’t care about this McMahon MVP babble.

Yeah, my ass
I think people need to cool down on the whole “without McMahon the ‘85 Bears wouldn’t have won the superbowl” talk

Were you even born before 1985?

all i have to do is look at the game stats.

There was a lot more to it than that
In McMahon interview last night, he said that he thinks the most passes he threw in a game was 30, but that was unusual. More times than not he was throwing 15 times in a game and handing off to Payton.
He didn’t supply all the swagger for that team, but he was the figure head for much of it. Stats are certainly important. There is a lot more to the game than that though.
If you can’t remember it, than SSSHhhh.
Hey, buddy
I was talking about the superbowl stats, not some stupid interview.
please, stop talking

The bottom line here is....
It is understandable knowing how you feel and knowing that you weren’t fortunate enough to actually witness the 85 season and some of McMahons short career personally. That is why I asked you if you were born before 1985, so I would have a better understanding on how you feel. Don’t trip, it’s all good.

Technically
The 85 Bears still exist with out McMahon. Just like the 09-10 Bears would exist without Cutler. Technically…. :)
Because as far as we're concerned, there is still no team in the history of the NFL that could beat the '85 Bears.
by Ditkavsworld on Apr 24, 2009 3:57 PM CDT up reply actions
That makes zero sense, technically.
Think about it. Technically, it is impossible to say that the 85 Bears still exist without McMahon. Because they did not exist without him.
Passion For The Game, Loyal To The Name, Chicago Bears, I Trust In Thee, Standing Strong Since 1983.
Huh?
The fact is that McMahon was a good QB, a great leader, with an enormous amount of talent around him. Yes, I was in elementary school when they won the SB.

No it's not impossible to say
the 85 Bears don’t exist without McMahon.
Fact- without JM as QB the 85 Bears still exsist, they just exist with a different QB.
Because as far as we're concerned, there is still no team in the history of the NFL that could beat the '85 Bears.

The Punky QB
I saw him on TV a few years back and he had a beer belly and he was walking around his house/yard wearing nothing but a thong, talking to the cameraman. I lost all appetite for food and life after witnessing that.
How you go from that to endorsing penis pills is beyond me, but hey — the guy gave us the best years of my Bears life, so more power to him.
And the prevailing wind happens to be blowing from Vichy.
I think I saw that
Wasn’t he cutting his grass on his John Deere? Love the guy but really never wanted to see that. Damn I just threw up in my mouth again just thinking about it.
ATTENTION ALL WHO CAN READ THIS- THERE IS NEVER A REASON A MAN SHOULD WEAR A BANANA HAMMOCK.
Because as far as we're concerned, there is still no team in the history of the NFL that could beat the '85 Bears.

I lost all respect for McMahon
when he won a superbowl ring with the packers

@ The White House..
.. meeting The President after the Packers Superbowl, McMahon sported his old Bears jersey, not a suit & tie. Because the 85 team never got to meet The President due to a threat on Reagan’s life.
RESPECT!!
1. I know that and
2. You’re wrong. The Bears didn’t meet the president because the space shuttle challenger disaster.

Thank Gawd it's not Forte, Cutler or Hester on the cover
Now our path to league domination is clear.
And the prevailing wind happens to be blowing from Vichy.
sweet because
we play the steelers and the cards this season. My guess, Forte runs over Polamalu and ends his season, Briggs runs over Fitzgerald with his Lamborghini and abruptly ends his career.

Cool...
Last year, was the first year on record since the mid 90s, that I actually didn’t buy the new Madden. I guess my video game days came to a halt.
But… I’d be interested to see what new stuff they brought to the table. Usually the guy on the cover is indicative of what’s new to the game. Maybe they have some new controls for pass receiving/defending?

I'm not gonna lie
I took him in the fourth. I actually thought the bears would have one of the top passing attacks in the league last year led by Orton and Bradley.
Boy, was I wrong.

It's okay...
I loved mark too. But I was never dumb enough to pick him till the last round. Right after robbie Gould!
Awww, man what am I supposed to do about my sig now?
Huh?
that’s like saying it was dumb to take Brady or Larry Johnson in the first. you just don’t know. I’m sure nobody picked Eddie Royal in the first three rounds.

Did you honestly believe he was worthy of a 4th round pick?
If you did your a moron too. Mark Bradley went undrafted in 99% of leagues. It’s not like chicago was a juggernaunt lime NE is. Of course I’d never pick him early… I liked mark Bradley I just wasn’t stupid enough to pick him early.
Awww, man what am I supposed to do about my sig now?
you don't have to be an asshole
just to make your point. I’ve never played fantasy football up to last year so it’s not like I’m some wily vet. secondly, there was a piece on NFL.com that said Bradley would have an explosive year and could be a top 20 fantasy steal. I took it for what it was worth.

Speaking of the Punky QB,
Last night I’m driving down 88 back towards the city, It was generally crappy outside and I just wasn’t feeling my ipod. Well, a little after midnight Dan Patrick, on the Score 670, says that he is going to talk to McMahon. I was curious so I kept listening.
I was thinking they were going to play some previously recorded spot. Nope Dan Patrick calls McMahon and gets him on the phone live.
Here is a link to the audio, (from the Score 670’s website)
http://www.670thescore.com/topic/play_window.php?audioType=Episode&audioId=3663288
I’ve met McMahon a couple times, not that we are friends or he would recognize me or anything, but he is truly an eccentric guy.
Hmmm...
That’s interesting. I listened, and well… I just don’t know what to think of him… lol. Seems a little spacey.
