Bengals waive G Barton, played at Ohio StateCINCINNATI (AP) — The Cincinnati Bengals have waived guard Kirk Barton, a former Ohio State player.
The Massillon native was signed by the Bengals from the Miami practice squad late last season, but saw no game action. The 2008 seventh-round draft choice played in one game for the Chicago Bears that year.
Let's see if the Bears sign him to compete on the depth chart at guard or tackle. I'm still upset at them for cutting Barton after game 1 last year, and signing 95 year old Fred friggin Miller to take his place. What in the world was the point of that? Barton, the rookie, and Miller, the retiree, were probably a wash if either had to start a game at RT last year. Might as well go with the cheaper contract of the rookie draft pick, and the possible upside... than the expensive league minimum contract of the veteran, and no upside at all.
