Undrafted Free Agents
Who do you want to see the Bears sign? Southerland, a FB, got some love in the 7th round thread. There were about a half dozen QBs on Kiper's 10 Best Remaining list that could develop into a decent backup to Cutler. A Georgia LB was #1 on his list though, Daniel Ellerbee. He could contribute to the ST at least. There were a couple of RBs on that list I wouldn't mind to see try out for the team either. Jeremiah Johnson, Kory Sheets & PJ Hill would be nice to see trying out for the team.

Didn't Ian Johnson go undrafted?
He had the second fastest 40 time at the combine and I think he could be a nice complement/special teams player. Hate to say it but probably better than AP or Wolfe.
Derrick Rose-2009 ROTY Tyrus Thomas-2009 MIP...hope I'm at least half right

Quan Cosby!!!!
Im sorry but I will have to say that I am highly upset that Quan Cosby didnt get drafted. I thought he would make a great slot receiver. I watched a bunch of his highlight videos and he has a lot of talent!!!
Someone please tell Jerry to consider!
THANK YOU DENVER!!!!!!!!!

I agree
I was really rooting for him to get drafted. Hopefully someone will pick him up!

I think Bill Cosby screwed that up when he said his contract should be $40 mill four years

Backup already covered
There were about a half dozen QBs on Kiper’s 10 Best Remaining list that could develop into a decent backup to Cutler.
his name is Caleb Hanie and he was amazing last pre-season. I have no worries about handing the car keys over to him if Cutler gets injured.

Are you serious?
I have no worries about handing the car keys over to him if Cutler gets injured.
He was an undrafted free agent that looked good against a bunch of 3rd stringers and free agents last year in the pre-season. I’d like to see more out of him before I’m completely sure that he could get the job done if (knock on wood) Cutler were to get hurt.

Bears will sign a veteran backup QB, with Caleb Hainie sticking at the #3

I'm sure he does
But I still say the Bears will sign a veteran to serve as # 2 on the depth chart in 2009. Caleb Hanie is strictly a developmental project that nobody really has any idea on. It’s very difficult to assume he is anything but a still raw prospect. Hopefully he continues to progress. The fact that the Bears didn’t draft a QB in the 6th or 7th round says to me they must have reasonable faith in the future of Hanie.

Well...
The Bucs have like 85 QBs now…
They’re gonna have to cut someone.

i don’t trust ogletree… obviously, his thin frame takes a beating(i.e. two completely separate injuries at the college level). what we need is a proven vet. i think we have all the talent in the world at WR, but with all that youth, somebody needs to mentor them.

We signed a QB named Chase!
But… it’s not Holbrook:(

I think Willie Williams
would be an interesting prospect to look at. I read a story about him on Yahoo, and although he has had a lot of problems and seemed to show a huge lack of maturity he seems to be trying to turn it around. And besides the guy was the number one defensive prospect coming out of high school (the same year Adrian Peterson was the number one offensive prospect coming out) and has incredible measurables for a linebacker. I think it wouldn’t be a bad idea to try him out at least and if he shows the skills he was thought to have coming out of high school (and shows that he’s become more mature) then worst case scenario he can be a ST player. Check him out and let me know what you think. And if anyone knows anything about him (if you’ve ever seen him play or anything like that) please share.

I say give him a shot
Let him come to rookie camp and show what he can do. 6’3" 230 running a 4.5 40 is pretty bad ass.

I agree...
Worst case scenario if he doesn’t work we can always cut him, no harm done. His measurables are off the chart and just looking at that would merit at least a mid round grade (because of past character issues and lack of production in college) so he could potentially catch on. I doubt we would actually pick him up but I’m really interested to see if anyone gives him a chance, seems like it would be a big waste of potential if no one lets the kid try and play.
