Bears Not Moving On Any Veteran Receivers...Yet
Bears GM Jerry Angelo has put the kibosh on the Amani Toomer talk and again talked about the company line about looking at all possibilities.
He did say however that the Bears are not in the market yet for one.
A veteran receiver is something we could do. We've looked at just about everybody. But right now we're in a holding pattern. If we go to camp and go into the season with the hand we dealt ourselves, we're very comfortable with that as well.
I'd like to think Angelo is still waiting for some developments in the Anquan Boldin situation. He tried once to get him, maybe he is waiting to see if he can revisit that?
Or maybe he wants to get into camp and see exactly what he has in his young receivers. By then a lot of these vets could be off the market.

Unless we can somehow get back into the Boldin sweepstakes,
then there really aren’t any FA WRs that would really make that big of a difference for us. As stated before, with an upgraded OLine, a solid running attack, and the development of our young WRs, we are going to be in good shape offensively come September.
Now, where we are defensively is a different story. There are high expectations of Marinelli and Lovie, and there are plenty of questions with our defensive secondary. I have to believe at this point, our defense should be the main focus moving forward.

Agreed
If we can keep Cutler on his feet and minimize the dropped passes, I think our offense will be fine. I’m not as concerned about safety as a lot of people are. I’ve always maintained that if you get more consistant line play and the coaches make sure that the secondary know and execute their assignements, we’ll be okay there. I don’t think it’s as much a matter of talent as it is lack of coaching and holding them accountable.
Our young WRs
need playing time. They will never develop with an old vet taking their snaps. I’m sure one or two will step up.
I suspect JA
is still trying to work out another deal for Marty Booker or perhaps trying to get Wendell Davis out of retirement. I think we’re done with Boldin for now … I don’t think we have enough pieces for AZ to swing a trade.
no vet needed
we added two last year and what happened? they got hurt and screw the developement of Bennett over..no vet please. unless we cut davis who needs to quit thinking he is snoop dog and quit dropping it like its hot
Bring back our honey bears...sick and tired of hearing about the dallas cowboy cheerleaders and the bars they go work at when they quit. cold weather + cheerleaders in skimpy outfits = lots of fun

i agree. why is it exactly that we still have davis? what good is he? how many times has he helped us out? all i can remember is that he drops a lot of balls. it was the same thing with cedric benson, i could never understand why they kept him. he was never any good and just caused touble. then they kept him and got rid of jones and i was mad.i think that with cutler our receivers will do fine. why dont they just focus all of their time on making hester a good route runner. every time he catches the ball it is good.
Vet WR
I think there will be at lest 2 or 3 WR training camp casualties that might bring some intrest. If Bennett and/or Iglesias step up as a possession receiver we’ll be in good shape. Devin is getting better & better and Olsen is creating some monster mis-matches down the seams. Clark adds depth at TE and we finally got a proven veteran in-line blocker with the signing of Gaines. This is going to pay big dividens in our kick-butt running game. If fact with Gaines sealing, Forte out in the flat for a dump-off or bubble screen will get, just him alone, close to 750+ yards thru the air. Our biggest need, and has been since the end of last season, is a REAL free saftey.
