Kevin Payne Is Ready To Go

Kpayne_medium

Kevin Payne has been given clearance to participate in any OTAs or training camps after having received shoulder surgery.

"I got the word two weeks ago," Payne said before Jason McKie's Celebowl fundraiser Tuesday. "I'm more than happy that I get to come out for OTAs, practice with my teammates. It's all about chemistry.

"I'm 100 percent. That's the good thing about it. I'm ahead of schedule. I'm just going to be out there flying around, ready to get at it."

Payne is slated to be starting at safety.  I'd like to say specifically which safety spot he will start at, but the Bears can't seem to decide who and where they want to put everybody.

If any one of them were actually really good… it would sure help the Bears to make a decision.

I'd like to see Payne at FS, and Steltz at SS.

Steltz is a true SS, and Payne is a little more versile in the defensive backfield. I really think Craig Steltz will be a lot more productive than last year, having a year under his belt.

well steltz has something you can’t teach instincts he has tons of it it’s just he has to catch up to the speed and kevin payne should be a true saftey for a long time

You can teach punctuation, though.

LMAO

Life should NOT be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive and well preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways - Beer in one hand - brat in the other - body thoroughly used up, totally worn out and screaming 'WOO HOO, What a Ride

Payne at SS, Bullocks at FS

I believe Payne is considerably better than Steltz and I do not think Steltz has the skill set to be an NFL FS. Bullocks on the other hand, has the skill set to play FS and IMO will play much better in Chicago’s system over NO’s system.

I agree with that but

Hoke did bring in his guy. as long as he is healthy i think he will be the man to beat.

Steltz impression.

The only thing that sticks out in my head about Steltz him getting plowed over by Ryan Grant. I really don’t think should start. I’d like to see Bullocks or even Glenn Earl start over Steltz.

Payne was

all over the field last season, he’s going to be a beast this year!

If he can stay healthy

He needs to learn to just tackle and not try and blow the other player up. He might last longer that way.
