Two-a-days?

What happened to that? I’ve never really paid too close attention to the day to day schedule because I’m not anywhere near there to visit, but don’t most teams have a few days with two practices, usually one with just helmets and the second with full pads? I may be completely ignorant on this… just wondering.

I do know that

the mere mention of “two-a-days” sends chills down my spine. Playing high school ball in Louisiana, it was typical to have 100+ degree/ 100% humidity days through July and August. Hell, even our early practice at 8 or 9am would be in the mid-90’s. By the time we got back for #2 around 6 or 7pm, it would still be 100.

My HS coach was an old-school, hard-nose SOB, who had coached Terry Bradshaw and Chris Chandler in their HS years… the tough old coot ran us into the ground during 2-a-days. And all the while, he would drink hot coffee from his thermos. Never understood that…

my frosh yr of high school...

was in stafford, TX. we were running 3-a-days !!!! i went thru 2 rolls of tape a day!!! go spartans! we weren’t allowed to drink(swallow) any water, he made us spit it out! my old coach also had a thermos, but nobody on the team thought there was coffee inside.

No drinking water was dangerous.

Especially in that heat… our coach did give us plenty of water break…

Funny stuff about your coach’s thermos though… that made me laugh.

good lord...

what memories!!! i still cringe just thinking about it!!! after i moved back to chicago, it was much better(although our team stunk to all high heaven)… sorry maine east alum, but it’s true. the thing i appreciated about that coach was he was on us about our grades and pushed the team to letter in a different sport than football(basically, to stay in shape during the offseason). ahhh, the good ol’ days!!!

Had a kid get sunstroke here....

Almost cost our coaching staff thier jobs.

When I played I was a triple threat.... Stumble.... Fumble.....Grumble....

And

Kids are a lot fatter and more out of shape going in these days. Old coaches developed their routines back when kids were in better shape.

As for two-a-days, I can’t believe you all hated them? I remember being tired, but still I looked forward to them. It was an extra 2-4 hours a day of football. I’d give almost anything for the oppertunity to go back and do two-a-days again.

ummm... two-a-days, i had no problem with...

it was wrapping my shin splints THREE times a day!!!(i believe indoor track and wrestling caused them)!!!

Haha

You must’ve posted this as soon as I did. Yes, we’ll have to decide on a time! That’s more GG’s area – he’ll probably be the one driving, I just have to make sure I don’t have plans/work. :)

Just to let everybody know

I’m willing to publish just about all reports in some form, depending on the amount of data the type that is in them.

If you are going, take some notes, write it up and email it or if you want just drop it in a Fan Post.

Luckily she is a teacher (or education major?)

and will probably be able to decipher that first statement.

For those who don't know... haha

He’s saying if you go to training camp and want to write up a little report about what you saw, did, etc. – email it to him and he’ll be willing to publish it on here… depending how much is actually in it. :p The end.

Education major, btw. Senior year! :D

Just because GB likes to think or himself as some kind

of a professor or something, I"m sure most knew what I meant. You can ignore his high brow self image:)

But I was talking about you...

it has nothing to do with my image of myself… it has to do with the image of your statement. Touchy much?

What about a photo story/essay?

As a photojournalism major I will probably be taking my equipment with me and snapping several dozen (hundreds of) shots.
