NightLink: Bears vs. Patriots for Pisa Tinoisamoa?
The Chicago Bears have done a great job this offseason at upgrading several positions of need. And it looks like we might be in a bidding war for another free agent who could step in and be a possible day 1 starter. Linebacker Pisa Tinoisamoa is scheduled to visit the New England Patriots today. The Pats are looking to replace MIke Vrabel, who is now with the Chiefs.

If Tinoisamoa signs with the Bears, he'd likely be the starter at strong-side linebacker alongside Brian Urlacher and Lance Briggs. You can bet Nick Roach and Hunter Hillenmeyer wouldn't be too happy, but the Bears are making every attempt to upgrade the defense. They lost a chance to land cornerback Roderick Hood when the former Arizona Cardinal opted to sign with the Cleveland Browns Tuesday morning.
The Patriots are one of the most intimidating teams to go to battle with on the football field... might the Bears have enough muscle to out-bid them for the services of Pisa on the free agent field?

Get it done JA...
PT could step in day one and improve the defense tremendously. Hillenmeyer was exposed last year and I don’t believe he can get back to what he was 2 years ago and although Roach looks promising he’s still unproven. Best to get in an established vet who has been very productive throughout his career in a very similar (and at times the same) defense.

Patriots can have him
I would not get into a bidding war of any sorts for this guy. He’s not that impressive. I have a suspicion that the interest the Bears may have lies in making him a hybrid safety of sorts.
Awww, come on guys, it's so simple maybe you need a refresher course. It's all ball bearings ...
Now now. We've been through this before
They aren’t converting him into a safety. The rams tried to do it under the exact same scheme and it failed miserably. Lovie would have to have memory issues to try it again.

I wouldn't mind getting Pisa
but I wouldn’t get into any kind of bidding war for him. I don’t know that he is strong enough to play the sam and fight off o-linemen all the time, but apparently he’s played the position before and done well.
In other news, Matt Jones, currently a free agent, will not be suspended by the league. He certainly has his issues, but he would without question be the best WR on our roster. He caught 60+ balls last year in 12 games, on a team that couldn’t throw. He would need to have a contract that protected the Bears if he couldn’t keep his nose clean (pun intended), but if so I think he could really help.

I wouldn't mind Jones
He’d definitely give us some size at the position. But if he signs we have to get rid of somebody, Davis would be nice. Hester, Jones, Bennett, Iglesias, Knox, and Rideau looks pretty decent to me. Highly doubt the McCaskey’s would be interested in somebody w/ as much baggage as Jones though.
"The phone's for you, I think it's the Devil."
Hetser, Bennett, Iglesias, Forte, Olsen…
That looks just fine too, without Matt J or Davis.

Jones might benefit
from being a team like the Bears – change of scenery, fresh start, blah, blah, blah. But I doubt JA goes after him. a lowball offer with a ton of incentives would make sure the Bears don’t pay too much for a guy who loves the booger sugar.
booger sugar,
I am a shamed to say I have not heard that one. It’s great!! With your permission I would like to add that to my vocabulary.
everybody who reads my comments...
knows i’m on board with that move… and no, i’m not drinking the cool aid, i just really really really want to see what our receivers can do this year. the way i see it, we’ll have a ring within three years no matter what we do! although, i did read an article just today that talked about “band-aids”
Courage is not the absence of fear, but rather the judgement that something else is more important than fear.

Whoa, whoa, let’s not tempt fate. Or, for that matter, the management…!

None of those recievers have size -
Jones could help.

Interesting point about Jones.
The contract would have to have lots of well defined behavioral clauses, but he could be a great value for his veteran experience alone.

Bears or Patriots
As of this evening, the Boston Herald reported that not only did they bring former Lions (LB) Paris Lenon in for a visit, but now it looks as though they are very close to an agreement. The addition of Pisa Tinoisamoa would do nothing but make our defense even better than it is……and for this Matt Jones talk……I say give hime a shot at the minimum salary. It could prove to be a great addition for a great price.
The Pats have signed Lenon
And I would like to see the Bears give Jones a chance.
Where did you see that?
That the Pats signed Lenon…If that is the case then there’s a good chance Pisa ends up as our new SAM….
I don't trust
white recievers as far as I could throw them.
