The Bears Den - 5/4/09

Bear_s-den_medium

....where we're anxiously counting down Training Camp 2009.

In The Den

Chicago Tribune

Lovie Smith is still a Brett Favre fan. This brings Favre's official fan count to two: Lovie Smith and John Madden.

Lovie Smith also wants Devin Hester to return punts this year.

Ron Turner breaks down the three new WR's.

Chicago Sun Times

Brad Biggs writes about the Jerry Angelo - Vanderbilt phenomenon.

Rod Marinelli is looking forward to working with Jarron Gilbert and Henry Melton.

Sorry, Chase Patton fans: It looks the Bears might be skeptical about adding another inexperienced QB to the roster.

This is the most important article within today's Den: Once all 9 draft picks sign, they will be at 79 players, one short of the 80-man limit. Therefore, none of the tryout players have signed today, and it looks like the Bears will stick with what they have.

Official Chicago Bears Site

Larry Mayer discusses the rookies who stood out after the mini-camp this weekend.

Per this report by Mayer, it looks like Johnny Knox really stood out on Day 2 of the mini-camp.

I Don't Know Why, call it a hunch

But I think Kinder can make this team with special teams play. That highlight video of him throwing the blocks on that kick return in 2007 shows the guy plays hard in all phases. he could end up on the PS but I think he sneaks onto the final roster and becomes a stand out special teamer at worst.

I think kinder

can make this team as an option at receiver. He’s an all around good player, it’s just injuries that hurt his reputation.
