How is Favre still an option?
Can someone explain to me why any NFL franchise would want Favre on their team at this point? He's obviously not capable of being a starting QB anymore, or at least not a competent one. Even if someone thought he had something left in the tank, last season with the Jets should have made it clear that he just doesn't have it anymore. He had a solid offense around him, so the stand-by excuse of "he doesn't have a line/running game/anyone to throw to" no longer applies.
Considering what an absolute prick he's been to young QB's under him, they can't possibly expect him to be the kindly veteran mentoring and grooming a young prospect. Not to mention that his horrible decision making and refusal to take any sort of criticism is not exactly something you want to pass on to a future player.
The only reason I can come up with is to help sell tickets, but even that will only last so long. And you know damn well it will get ugly when he starts hearing the boos from fans. Although his ego is so out of hand that he may not even realize it's him that they're booing. Can someone tell me what the attraction is with this guy?

You hit the nail on the head
To sell tickets. It’s name recognition, media attention, merchandising, etc. Plus it makes the Packers fans squirm.

A Viking fan's take
Well, many people think he’s an upgrade over our current situation, which is debatable, and in my opinion not worth the baggage and his penchant for throwing interceptions and choking in big games lately.
Others want to stick it to the Packers. I feel we would just be degrading ourselves, but again, it’s debatable, comes down to opinion.
The main reason is most likely to build up a lot of public interest and gain support for a new stadium. I’ve heard the governor himself has said he would like a move to get Favre (but don’t quote me on that, I have no link, I’ve only heard it said a bunch of times).

Nice take
I think he’d be a slight upgrade over TJack and Rosencopter, but not enough to warrant the possibility of him destroying team chemistry. You might be on to something with the proposed, new stadium.

Maybe
But bringing him in seems like a “win now” kind of move. Except that he’s no longer good enough to win now.

That's how I feel,
but you’d be surprised how many people think he IS good enough.
