2009 Bears predictions
******Yes I know it is too early to predict the season but i did it for a different website so I decided to post it here*******

@Seahawks: The Bears Come back strong with shutdown D. The Bears win 24-3.

Bears lose to Eagles?
No way this will happen, Bears are better now on all 3 sides of the ball…with the exception of the WR’s.
The Eagles are always a mystery early on.
Might as well be the Chargers.

with the lone exception of dawkins...
the eagles are too. but, scratch mike brown, and i think they cancel each other out. i’m a believer of 11-5, but i have to say that this game definitely goes into my column of “any given sunday” type of games. we’ve had good fortune with the eagles as of late, but let’s not forget that they had a pretty good team last year… and just got better. i personally really enjoy the bears-eagles games… the kind of games you expect to rip “between the thirties” apart. i’m waiting til after the steeler game to pick my winner of the eagles. sseing as how they were pretty much the only team to dominate the steelers last year… and they ARE the champs.
Courage is not the absence of fear, but rather the judgement that something else is more important than fear.
Could happen!
The Eagles have gotten better at LT, WR and RB. They did well in the postseason, and I’d think DeSean Jackson would be even more scary in his sophomore year.
I see it as two teams who played a close one last year and both have become better. So while I like the Bears for winning it, it could happen!
I'm not sure they got better at LT...
if I remember correctly the Eagles had a pretty good protection last year, and Jason Peters a guy who is known as a finesse pass-blocker who is weak in the run-game gave up a league high 13 sacks last year.
Plus on WR, Jeremy Maclin is good but I’m not sure he can make an immediate impact coming from an exclusive spread offense, last year Jackson came from a west coast offense so he already new the system.
Sounds pretty reasonable overall...
Probably need to consider that one “WTF” loss and maybe a “WTF” win as well….
Maybe that win is in week 2 and the loss is against Singletary’s 9ers…
Also, you think 10-6 won’t get us into the playoffs? I don’t know, there’s a lot of parity in the league right now.
Otherwise, well thought out prediction IMHO….
lmao!!!
that’s my WTF loss too. i don’t know, i just see that the NFC east just bulked up quite a bit this year, and they were the ones to beat last year. 10-6 is probably more reasonable, but i’m one of those guys that see 2 more wins with cutler. i think we’d still get in with that, but i’d rather see a guaranteed home game in the playoffs… as i am sure you would too.
Courage is not the absence of fear, but rather the judgement that something else is more important than fear.
there has to be a win you didn't expect and a loss you didn't expect
Last year beating the Colts and then losing to the Falcons. And while the Falcons where a much better team than anyone thought, when looking at the season before it started, no one thought they would be that good.
Prediction:
unexpected win? Beat the Steelers
unexpected loss? Lose to the Bengals
although i'm a select few who agree with you on the steelers outcome...
i can’t see us losing to cincy… it’s more of a pride thing to me i guess. the steelers game will be a tell-tale for me… i see it going into OT and bears coming out on top, but i’m also blogging at 1AM… i could be completely insane for all i know.
Courage is not the absence of fear, but rather the judgement that something else is more important than fear.
wtf win = browns
no way we lose to cincy or niners, I also dont think we can steelers, maybe if one of the wr plays out of his mind this year but otherwise, we got no shot. ( on a side note I think we will beat the ravens.)

palmer will torch our secondary
classic trap game.
no way
palmer is good but their run game and oline will only need 5 maybe 6 of our front seven to stop the run and rush the passer if so we can handle palmer and chad (ocho cinco not you)
"snuffalufagus fucks my shit up"
let's rewind one year ago today...
and let’s pretend i said “I think the Bears will lose on the road to atlanta” (which i did not predict at the time)
what would you have said?
bs
however even if you had told me after the game having seen the game I would give you the same answer
"snuffalufagus fucks my shit up"
I would've told you their starting QB must've been healthy and playing
because it’d be a shock if Palmer is either one of those by week 4.

im as insane as you
i also think the steelers game is a bench mark. i also like the match-up with the eagles ,if i was to pick a game to go to ,it would be this game ( i live in england).
Pretty spot on
I think however we lose to the pack in Chicago tho just because Bears/Packers and all that. I do believe we stomp them in Lambeau opening day tho. I think we beat the Cards however. They only went 8-8 last season and just made a magical playoff run, it happens. I think they lose in the wildcard game this year tho, they may have to watch out in their division for an improved San Fran and Seattle. I just think we expose Arizona and lose one to the Pack.like i said. I just hope we don’t lose the opening day battle or else i gotta have a Brett Favre bobblehead on my damn desk the entire season. 11-5 and…I’m sticking to it.
Expose Arizona?
You mean like, they are who we thought they were?

LOL
I am not saying ARZ is garbage or anything, don’t get me wrong. I think that barring an NFC West breakdown that they will make the playoffs this year. I just don’t see a dominant year for them this season. I may give them 1 game or 2 more than last year 9-7 or 10-6 at the best. Once again this is all specualtion of course, San Fran could destroy the Division this year for all we know. I have a feeling about these predicitions though, granted if we do lose the first game in GB and i have to put that bobblehead on my desk for the whole season you prolly won’t see me posting my “predictions” or anything else for that matter lol.

interesting
i don’t think there’s a chance they only give up 3 in seattle though.
i’ll take arizona and the bungles as the wtf win and loss.
@Packers: LOSS – Cutler makes some a few good plays, but also struggles some in his first outing in a Bears Uni. Forte has a decent game, but it’s not enough to carry the team to victory. Packers win and the talking mouths start bashing the Bears for not having any good WR’s. Start the season off 0-1.
Vs. Steelers: WIN – Butterflies ease up and Jay bounces back in front of the Soldier Field faithful amassing 350+ yards in the air. Throwing a bomb to Hester and two more TD’s, one to Forte and one to Olsen. 1-1.
@Seahawks: WIN – Tough game but the balanced offensive attack of the Bears is too much for Seattle’s D and the Bears win by a small margin. Hester also takes one to the house and Lovie says, “Great game by all three phases.” 2-1.
Vs. Lions: WIN – Kevin Smith guarantees victory over the Bears and Daunte Culpepper has some success against our secondary, but Cutler has another big game and the Bears win easily. 3-1.
@Falcons: WIN – The Bears D is vicious this game, salivating at the chance to get back at Matt Ryan for last years last second rally. They come out firing on all cylinders and Vasher has a 2 interception game, reclaiming his title as the ‘Interceptor’. 4-1.
@Bengals: WIN – Cedric Benson has had a pretty decent season thus far and says some ridiculous comment about how his teammates never loved him in Chicago and his momma never hugged him as a child. Bears D shut him down for <30 total yards; Palmer connects with Coles in the end zone but Bears win easily. 5-1.
Vs. Browns: LOSS – Trap game, team is flat and Mangina gets the win. 5-2.
Vs. Cardinals: WIN – Warner is hurt at this point and Leinart is doing alright, but the Bears Offense and Defense have a great game against the defending NFC Champions and Manning returns his first KO of the year. 6-2.
@49ers: WIN – Good thing Iron Mike has the team running hills in the off-season, since that is what this game is going to turn into – an uphill battle for the 9’ers. Cutler starts hot, hitting Hester deep on the opening play and the Bears never look back. 7-2.
Vs. Eagles: WIN – Strong Defensive game, comes down to fourth quarter QB’s and Cutler shows why the Bears gave up so much to get him. Bears win in a nail biter. 8-2.
@Vikings: LOSS – Bears load the box to stop Peterson, and T-Jack embarrasses Peanut and Vasher. We adjust in the second half, stopping the passing game and Peterson lights us up for two TD’s and 100+ yards. 8-3.
Vs. Rams: WIN – If we in fact lose to the Vikes, this is the lock of the decade… The Bears will be fuming at the recent defeat and will dominate on all phases, Hanie will be handing off to K.Jones in the middle of the third quarter – Blow out win! 9-3.
Vs. Packers: WIN – A.Rod v/s J.Sizzle. The Bears will be hyped up for this rivalry game and have another good game. Izzy, O-gun, Harris and Briggs all have sacks, Vasher gets a pick 6 and Cutler has a monster game at Soldier Field. Bears dominate in second half and win easily. 10-3.
@Ravens: LOSS – Which D is better? Cutler struggles against one of the leagues best and the Poe-boys get the W in an extremely tight defensive game. 10-4.
Vs. Vikings: WIN – Coming off the loss to the Ravens, the offense steps up and Hester finds the end zone twice on passes from Cutler, and once on a reverse hand-off. The Bears finally stop ‘All Day’ and get an easy win. 11-4.
@Lions: WIN – This is a toss-up game for me. The Bears will win, but will know that they can’t clinch home field, so the starters may rest for most of the game. The fiercer Lions will put up a fight against our B team, but still won’t come away with the win. 12-4.
Bears record: 12-4 and 2nd in the NFC

I don't like hearing about our first loss opening day man
switch opening day game with week 13 day with Pack and we good lol.

me either...
but are we more likely to lose at home or on the road against the Pack. Plus, I can just see Schlereth and his other goons trashing the Bears for not having any reliable WR’s after a loss the first week, and by week 3 or 4, saying how they knew the WR’s were going to be amazing.
And don’t be too upset, we use that opening day loss to fuel the ‘we don’t get any respect’ fire and go on a 5 game winning streak.

Bears go 13-3 or 14-2
with our recievers. we question them right now but by next season we will be like WOW!!! Nothing to worry about with our recievers!
i appreciate your enthusiasm...
but i’m a little unclear as to whether you’re sanying 13-3, 14-2 this year or next??? if it’s next year, then sign me up. but even the most optimistic of fans can’t justify 2-3 loss season this year… believe me, i hope you prove me wrong, but let’s be realistic. with that being said, i absolutely agree with you about our WR corps… i’m really expecting good things from iglesias, even better for bennett, and hester has looked as cool as the other side of the pillow in OTA’s.
Courage is not the absence of fear, but rather the judgement that something else is more important than fear.
Good loyalty to your team but..
losing only 2 or 3 games might be pushing it a little bit. I don’t think any of the teams in the division will only lose 2 or 3 games. Whoever ends up winning the division will probably do it with 11 or 12 wins. It will be hard to do any better then that, because of the parity in our division, and in the NFL.

I believe they can accomplish the task of being 1 of the leagues best this year
You cant just look at the problems of a team. Mostly look at the positive sign. Who led us to the Superbowl in 06? Rex and the defense. So why cant Jay and this years amazing defense do the same? Jay Cutler made Eddie Royal look amazing. Nobody knew him much until week 1. REMEMBER???
again, i'd love to agree...
but our biggest glaring issue is the D… as far as being positive is concerned, i’m drinking the lool-aid with you, and i’ve stated it quite a few times that we should be rockin’ bling within the next 3 yrs. now as being positive, after the opening kickoff, i WAS positive we were gonna’ win… but we all know what happened there. again, i REALLY do hope your right, but i keep thinking “baby steps” for some reason… and again, i’m right there with you about our receivers.
Courage is not the absence of fear, but rather the judgement that something else is more important than fear.
We just have to have the trust
I dont see much problems with the D and the FS spot is kinda filled with Corey Graham who is underrated to me. Kevin Payne is like a beast and last year he wasn’t even supposed to play!!! Skills. Payne has them and so does Graham. Im sure he can be great as a starter. The Corner position I dont worry AT ALL because I think we are good to go at it.
meh ...
there are problems at the CB and S positions and they go by names Vasher, Bullocks, rookies et. al. it’s going to be a work in progress. Tillman is a sure lock and that’s about it, the rest is up for grabs and none of them are really proven. it’s good to be optimistic, but lets not be delusional.
Slightly
off-topic, but since we’re discussing each game in this post, which game will be the best game for me to travel from South Carolina to Soldier Field to catch this year?

never been to Columbia, but I do love the weather here (and the beach)...
I would say we are in the minority in SC, the majority of football fans here prefer college over pro and don’t really follow the NFL that much. But I have been lucky, there are 100 people where I work – about 10 are NFL fans – and four are Bears fans. It does seem like there are some solid fans in the South representing the blue and orange.

I have to go to the bars with the NFL package because I can’t have satellite at my apartment, and there’s a fairly hardcore group of fans… of course, being loud and celebrating for every first down, defensive stop and such, has gotten us nicknamed the Super Fans

I had to give up the package this year (bad timing)...
…we are trying to get some bills paid off and couldn’t put out the monthly $100 anal-raping from DTV, plus the extra $400 to actually watch the games. I thought about giving up eating or selling my liver, but….
Needless to say, I will definitely be visiting one of the NFL friendly bars this season.

You're all welcome to come up to WI
I’ve got the NFL Ticket, so I can watch my beloved Bears.(and whatever other game I want to watch when the Bears aren’t on.)
My wife wanted me to cut it based on the expense, but I told her that If I got rid of the Sunday Ticket, I would need to get season tickets and that would cost way more. I did however omit the fact that there is a waiting list for season tickets, but what she doesn’t know won’t hurt her :-)

i'd say steelers or eagles...
the weather will be nicer for the steelers game, the eagles game is the sunday before thanksgiving, so you gotta account for that. it should be chilly but not ‘BEAR WEATHER"… if you want the fabled “BEAR WEATHER”, then absolutely the only real choice you have is the packers game on dec.13… i mean come on… it doesn’t get any better(or colder) than watching the oldest rivalry in football go at it in freezing weather with the wind swirling around off of the lake!!!
Courage is not the absence of fear, but rather the judgement that something else is more important than fear.
Trust me
I’m taking all of that into account… It’s most like a toss-up between the Steelers game and the Arizona game, ironically… having absolutely nothing to do with either of them being in the SB last year.
