How is

Jason McKie the same level (82) as Greg Olsen?

I'm still playing 2K5

I play 2k6 a lot

Although I just started an ‘09 franchise on my roommate’s Xbox. I did the fantasy draft and took Cutler like 2 rounds early just because. I am 1-1 so far b/c I am not very good at it.

There wasn't a 2K6

EA Sports couldn’t handle the competition and had to buy the NFL license.

Every Madden is like that, hell I played Madden 03 for 4 years

Just kept creating players, that original Bears team had Jim Miller as the starter lol.

Thanks!

I also didn’t fix the shadow underneath the EA Sports logo… it still has a piece of Fitzgerald’s arm in the shadow…oops. I’ll fix on Monday and re-post.

Didn't see that.

Still, better than the horrid “ACTIONY” original. Did they not put out the template for Madden like they did for NCAA?

by bdalebs on Jun 14, 2009 10:35 AM CDT up reply actions

not sure...

Just got bored at work on Friday, so I pulled the fitz cover off google and grabbed upper body and lower body shots of Cutler and pieced it together. That would have made it so much easier though.

i was going to say

if that was going to be the official Madden cover then Cutler better not go out of the house unless absolutely necessary. We don’t need no steenkeen Madden curse after this great off-season

I have the last several Maddens from 05 to now (only on PS 2/3) and I do well until I try the all-Madden level…then, not so good.

If a bunch of people play online Madden here someone should start a post w/player names, that could be fun except I am imagining a lot of Bears v Bears games.

Madden 09 (XBox 360)

Gamertag: Smudgers

I’ve tried playing online a few time and I usually freeze, but I haven’t tried in a while, so maybe they put out a patch for it.

Cutler steps back, unleashes a bomb for Hester...

PICKED OFF by Tillman!!!

Cutler only at 87? Wasn't Grossman at that level during 2006?

Doesn’t make too much sense..

I'm a lefty, maybe Lou should give me a shot for a position in the bullpen!!

Arm strength = lots of bonus points.

Or it used to. In 05, there was somebody with high 90’s strength, but low 70’s accuracy and he was like a 92, IIRC.

by bdalebs on Jun 14, 2009 10:38 AM CDT up reply actions

the ratings are done differently this year

an 87 would translate to a 90-92 in previous years. it’s kinda like NBA live.

Freeman's speed rating

is an 84. Guess who’s coming off the bench?

My name is rdent4hof, and I am a nerd.

by rdent4hof on Jun 14, 2009 10:51 AM CDT reply actions

Wow, they gave Pace a 40 in toughness

I’d say that’s definitely taking a shot at him. I’m a little concerned about his willingness to play through pain, but a 40??

I saw that. Pace's inj is also a 40. He started 14 games last year!

No way to treat a future Hall member. (especially since he’s on The Bears roster)

i dont think these are gonna be the actual ones guys

ratings are really low compared to last year cutler ended 09 at 90 how does he fall?
olsen was at like 85 after his best year? and hester fell from 81 i think a revamped versiion should be out late july

by Bear Lovin 21 on Jun 15, 2009 12:53 PM CDT reply actions

Yes they are...

Madden re-did their rating system for Madden 10 and it can be semi-explained here and here.

You guys do know.

This IS a video game AND John Madden is an idiot PLUS EA sports does this stuff just to keep controversy alive. More controversy = more publicity = more sales. I respect you Smudgers and love your posts, but I gotta say, the fact that this is stimulating an actual BEARS conversation disturbs me on several levels. Video games are like reality television on crack cocaine. Less real than real times 20.

Thanks J.D.

What is the difference b/t the reality of madden (video games) and the reality of fantasy football? Most people know that neither of the two is real, but that doesn’t make either of them an irrelevant conversation?

Most of the demographic on this site (from what I have seen) grew up with an atari or a nintendo in their room. Some have grown out of that, some have not. I still enjoy playing every now and again and when I do, I only play with the Bears. Thus, making the new ratings relevant to me and obviously others.

I probably shouldn't read articles discussing things I'm just not that into.

But I saw this post referenced in other posts so i checked it out and got a bit of a chuckle. That’s all. Oh, and anyone who comments on the amount of ass sweat on Nate Newton during a live broadcast can be considered an idiot on some level. (forward to comment below)

My 2 cents,

I have no idea about any of the video game talk, but I do know that John Madden is most assuredly not an idiot (at least when it comes to football). Half of today’s NFL coaches would love to know what Madden knows.

Be nice. Flag comments that you think are offensive. Use the "reply" button. Drink plenty of water. Compliment others. "Rec" comments and posts you like. Don't call people names. If you don't like someone's comment, attack the comment and not the commentor. Learn the difference in your/you're, then/than, to/too. Exercise. Relax. Stretch often. Find good in the world.

there was a simulation game called Front Office Football

You could handle the draft, free agency from year to year. You had to deal with upset player as well.

You could even control it on a play by play level. I loved that game. I had the Bears winning 4 SBs in a row in the year 2032.

Madden bought them out for their game and put ruined it for me.

Man these ratings suck!

Ah man, now we have to wait a few games for a kick azz update to come out and fix those crappy ratings. Hopefully da bears will start off strong and boost them up quickly. I’ll be so pissed if Favre’s ratings are higher than cutler’s he he finally shows up.

LET's GO BEAR's

Almost all ratings are down, because they adjusted the scale.
