Jay Cutler: "I'm 100 percent happy with what we have."

with all the offseason talk of who will be catching passes from Bears QB Jay Cutler beginning week one in Green Bay, we have yet to hear any word from Cutler himself... until now. From a David Haugh article out of the Chicago Tribune, Jay Cutler spoke to reporters after OTA's today. He answered questions about his current wideouts on the roster and two receivers rumored to be on the radar in Halas Hall.

On current Bears WRs

"We have everything we need out there," Cutler said. "We're going to be more than fine out there. I'm 100 percent comfortable. I think we have more than enough to compete."

On Brandon Marshall

"He's a great player [and] I played with him for three years and put up some big numbers with him. Wherever he ends up, I'm sure he's going to be successful," Cutler said. "Whether or not it's here, it's up to the guys upstairs. As of right now, I'm 100 percent happy with what we have."

On the possibility of Burress joining the Bears

"If it happens, it happens," Cutler said of Burress. "I'm not going to speculate whether we're going to get him or not. The guys that we have right now I'm 100 percent confident in and comfortable with."

he also reiterated that he feels Devin Hester is a true number one receiver. this is my take on it. I don't think that Cutler is just giving the media the same old Lovieisms just to pacify the masses. I really do think that he likes what he has right now. And, his comments toward Marshall weren't really glowing with hope and enthusiasm.

What do you guy's and gals think?

He's saying what he has to say

Wait until Cutler’s numbers drop, then we’ll compare the soundbytes.

I want to be optimistic, but the only people who think Devin is a #1 are on the bears payroll.

I mean, I’ll be the happiest fan ever if he proves me wrong…i just wouldn’t bet the farm on it.

Whether he meant it or not, I'm really happy with the way he is coming off to the media

My biggest concern about Cutler since they made the trade was his attitude and maturity level, but he has really done everything he’s supposed to, and then some, since he’s been a Bear. Obviously, it still won’t be proven until he hits a rough patch or two after the actual season starts, but my hat is off to him on his behavior thus far.

To me, all the talk about Burress, Marshall, the safety position, etc. don’t amount to anything compared to what it will mean to us if Cutler is the QB we’ve all fantasized about since Jim McMahon. I was an Orton fan, and still am, but this guy has the potential to be among the elite at his position if his head is in the right place.

Just pillow talk.

Yep your right he has to say stuff like that. But he too knows what we all do, we need a #1 badddddddd.

LET's GO BEAR's

Would 70 receptions for 1000+ equal a #1 receiver? I’m guessing those are the numbers Hester will put up, he has a QB that can hit him in places that will let Hester get a ton of yards after catch.

I'm not getting into guessing games

but I do think Hester will have a significantly better year.

Did you actually think he would say

anything derogatory about the receiving corps if he believed it was lousy??? Of course he is saying what he has to say.

What a non-story this is.

he said he is a 100 percent comfortable.

he could’ve worded it differently, but he didn’t. That tells me he is 100 percent comfortable. you probably don’t know Cutler all that well if you think he just “says what he has to say”.

I agree

that there are plenty of other ways he could have tip-toed around the situation without saying that he thought they were horrible if that’s how he really felt.

The message had to be conveyed as such,

but the actual words and phrases he used weren’t necessary. I agree that he absolutely has to say that he has faith in the receivers, but I don’t think this is JC just blowing smoke.

Who said he is blowing smoke?

Answer me this if you would. Do you think he would be excited to get a proven high quality receiver? I believe he would be ecstatic, which would tell he is really not 100% satisfied with the Bears current crop of WRs.

But for now, he said what he had to say all the while I bet he is hoping they bring someone in to throw to.

We,ll be more than fine with our receivers

I don’t get it why do you need another receiver when our Qbs presence is almost more than enough to make defensive coordinaters wonder how to attack, you load the line with eight in the box you get torched by the TEs, you play your zone we run the rock on you with Forte, you blitz Hester / Iglesias/ Knox is in for six. I thought Orton was alright but hated when the pocket would collapse and see him just stand there instead of taking off something Cutler brings to the table, so quit youre bickering over the No. 1 receiver I can see us winning alot of games this year so chill Homeboy all is well.

If he’s happy then everyone should be happy! Now, being a Texas gal where doing everything “big” is a way of life why not go after Bmarsh and raise the stakes. Lets face it , life’s a lot more exciting with BOTH of them there because they already know each other and no long adjustment period is needed. Apparently they don’t want him either so GO GET HIM and you can NEVER have too many #1 wide receivers on a roster.

Get to it! Dallas is preparing to host the Superbowl and I would like for Jay to arrive on schedule. He’s never played in Dallas so hurry up and get here because I can hardly wait. It doesn’t appear that I’ll get a ticket to Soldier field (whew, they’re as tough as Cowboys tickets-so I had to buy season tickets!) so come on!
