Same old story, Same old song and Dance
As excited as I am about the upcoming season and believe me its at about a 12 out of 10. I'm basically covering my eyes and hoping for the best with Tommie Harris. Its easy to overlook the problems hes had considering all the new additions the Bears have made. But if he cant get back to the form of past seasons, the D Line will have trouble rebounding from a poor season last year. It shows me the GM is worried about the position too or he would have drafted a WR, not a D Lineman with the first pick in the third round.
He wasn't there when we made our run in the playoffs due to injury and he really hasnt been the same since. But yet every preseason comes around and hes getting held back for "precatioinary" reasons. He was even suspended a game for being late for TREATMENT on his knee. Everyone wants this defense to get back to its top 5 form, well as they say, It Starts Up Front. And if Tommie Harris is still taking every other play off and not taking his rehab seriously this year, it will not bode well for the rest of the defense. Now he did show me last year that he can finish a season "healthy" which I thought was a big concern for him, but to his credit he did finish it.
On the season Harris finished with 5 sacks, which isn't all that terrible, but he also failed to record a sack in the last 4 games of the season. So he proved he finish a season out, now he needs to show he can play at a high level every game for a 16, no check that, a 19 game season as he did in his 3 Pro Bowl seasons.

I have confidence in Tommie
A new season. Plenty of time for him to be healthy. Plenty of time for him to learn from Marinelli. Plenty of time for him to get back to what he used to be. I think his only concern was his injuries.

I agree...
also if I remember correctly wasn’t Warren Sapp supposed to be tutoring Harris during the offseason.

Same old story
Same old song and daaaaaaance…my friend!
Tommie better return to form this season or he’s going to get cut or used as trade bait. I can see him playing better than last season especially since he knows the pressure on him and to have Rod there is the best thing for him and the entire line. He needs to redeem himself so I have a reason to wear my Harris jersey again.

I have to disagree
on drafting Gilbert showing J.A. is worried. If he was really worried he wouldn’t have traded the 2nd round pick, he would have used it on a d-tackle. What I think happened with Gilbert and Harrison for that matter is they fell a lot farther than J.A. thought they would and it was too good a deal to pass up. Having said that, I think Gilbert and Harrison will allow Tommie to be 100% when he is on the field. A good rotation and keeping him fresh might be the key to him returning to pro-bowl form. I think above all he has something to prove, and I think he knows that his contract is riddled with performance incentives. He is probably also aware if he does have a sub-par year, he could be traded, or the Bears could ask to restructure the deal. But I’m predicting 10 sacks on his way to an all-pro year and competing for defensive player of the year award. I predict a career year for him.

Im excited about the competition making everyone better
Hopefully Tommie has more of a sense of urgency now that they have an incumbent waiting in the wings. But as far as taking a DT in the 2nd instead of the third, maybe their though process was the player they wanted (Gilbert) would still be there in the 3rd round and they would be able to pick him up and add an additional pick. But bottom line is they took Gilbert first instead of some of the WR that were available at that point. And going in I wouldve thought WR would be the first need they would address.
