The Rashied Davis 2009 Stat Contest.

Davis_medium

via www.mattdahl.com

I know that Rashied Davis is a running gag within the confines of Windy City Gridiron but let's find out what you really think about him. It is reported that Davis is set to return to the slot this season and with Cutler as our QB you could assume that he might have a very productive season. But on the other hand this is Rashied Davis we are talking about and he hasn't been the most reliable of Bears' receivers. So I had an idea to start " The Rashied Davis 2009 Stat Contest" which is a contest that shall prove who on Windy City Gridiron was right about their opinions about Rashied Davis. Heres how the game works:

1. Each participant shall make an estimate on how many TOTAL YARDS and TOUCHDOWNS Rashied Davis                   receives for the entire 2009 regular season.

2. At the end of the regular season, we find the WCG participant who came closest to or guessed the exact                         amount of TOTAL YARDS and TOUCHDOWNS he received in 2009.

3. That WCG participant is named the winner and is given the title of "The Rashied MindFreak"

I know the end of the season is very far away from now but I thought it would be an interesting contest and I'd just like to see how many total yards and touchdowns everyone thought he would accumulate through the season. Should make for some interesting discussion until we crown a winner so WCG don't lose this post. Good Luck.

This is kinda funny

Everyone wants to be so optimistic they are given decent numbers.

I say he only plays in the first 2 games before he is replaced by Knox.

@ GB- 3 catches for 35 yards 0 drops
Pitt- 4 catches for 53 yards with 2 fumbles 2 drops in the first half, replaced by Knox in the second half.

1st place wins an official Rashied Davis dropped game ball

And as much as I hate it, I don’t think he’s going anywhere this year. We have only have two WR’s who’ve ever caught a pass in the NFL, and he’s one of them. I say 33 rec. for 379 with 1 score, and my computer broke trying to add up the drops so I’ll skip it.

914yds, 4TDs

tying his career numbers… yes, i said it… CAREER!!! there is no reason why he should make this team!!! he’s a slot receiver who was bumped up, and couldn’t handle the promotion… i don’t blame him for that, he’s built for the slot… BUT, his body of work to date doesn’t warrant a spot, IMHO… in his entire career, he WAS most productive for us in KR, and…..well….umm…. i think we got that part of the game covered now!!! so, since i have the extra time on my hands, without further ado:

2006 – 16GP 22CAT 303YD 2TD 32KR 753YD 0TD
2007 – 16GP 17CAT 165YD 0TD 12KR 168YD 0TD
2008 – 16GP 35CAT 445YD 2TD 1KR 10YD 0TD

notice in particular, the #s from last year…
2.19 catches per game 12.71yds per catch 0.333333333 TD per game

over 85 WRs in the league had his avg YPC or better… see where i’m going with this??? if we can’t pick up that production by a rookie alone, never-the-less bennett, then MY head should be evaluated for not wanting him on the team!!!

Yea but I see alot of jabs that are unneccesary

Im not about the name calling stuff, I was referred to this website by a good longtime friend and fellow Bears fan PolishSausage.Ditka.Bears. , Im a huge Bears fan myself as we all are, and he told me to come to this website. He even helped me sign on because I have such an archaic brain when it comes to computers, I’ll admit Im new to this blogging game, as you can see by my First Post, I have since learned you cant just say anything it has to be worth writing for. But it was on my mind and I wanted to get my feet wet so I wrote it but trust me I regret it. But the reason I never blogged before was because I would read some bloggers debate on other websites without being a member just to get a gauge on how other fans felt and all I saw was childish banter (seemed like little kids swapping one liners at each other showing pride for X team). But P.S.D.B insisted I come to this cite because we get into heated insightful debates all the time about the Bears. And he said this was the BEST website for exactly that. If you want to debate thats one thing but Im not getting into childish name calling after every opinion or prediction I make however outlandish they might be. I dont know you and you dont know me, thats how I look at it. I wouldnt call YOU MRS ANYTHING. I didnt appreciate it so I let JerBear know and Im glad your having fun windycity72 but thats not what I would consider constructive criticism. You wont have to worry about “THOSE TIMES” with me. I will be respectful to each and every person on this website trust me on that. I apologize for coming off like a real asshole but once there is some kind of a rapport with said fellow blogger then maybe something like that would be more acceptable.

by ANYTIME09 on Jun 13, 2009 2:34 PM CDT up reply actions

It was a joke!!!

Lighten up a little, nay a lot.

He wasn’t calling you a name to be offensive. You were one of the few to say something positive about Rashied, so he was inferring from your comment that his wife had joined our site to defend him. Not childish, not offensive, not disrespectful – a joke. You will have plenty of time to get into intellectual debates with fellow bears fans, just don’t be so uptight over the little things. Am I really expected to have a “rapport” with everyone I joke with on a BLOG site? Really? Roll up the sleeves, un-tuck the shirt and grab a beer, it’s the off-season!

Oh, and welcome to the WCG! (Tempchad, would you like to chime in?)

He thought you were calling him Mrs. Davis

if you read it again it’s not easy to distinguish between that and what you said you meant. He was reluctant to blog at first so give him a break that a one of his few posts got a negative response that looked like he was getting insulted. He’s a very intelligent Bears fan and you and everyone will enjoy blogging with him. I like making jokes with the regulars too he’s just gotta get used to how everyone rolls on WCG.

I cannot claim the Mrs. Davis comment...

It was JerBear, I was just sticking up for him as I didn’t see it as an insult or disrespectful. I, as I think everyone, will give him a break. No big deal – moving on.

My comment was made in jest

It was not meant to be a personal attack, nor was it a shot at your masculinity. Smudgers assessment was correct. As I’m sure you’ve noticed by now, there are a few players that tend to get peoples hackles up on this site. Davis is obviously one of them. All I was saying was that by your generous prediction, you must be related to Rashied.
There is a lot of good discussion and debate on this site. You typically won’t find the juvenile keyboard-warrior bullshit on here like you find on yahoo or most other sites, but there is a lot of back-and forth on here amongst us. Rarely is any of it malicious.

I just got back from a wedding and Im really drunk

I apologize Ive already made enemies with people Ive never met, JerBear this is done I no longer care about this stupid argument. Im not above being made fun of, and I get that, but Im new here and its an adjustment period, its alot different when you debate with someone face to face. Im not used to the back and forthness of this site, I dont see myself blogging that way personally but Im just trying to get my feet wet. So I say we all move on. I didnt mean for this to turn into a whole site debate. But you know the Rashied beef with everyone is a little overplayed. I saw everyone gush over Mike Brown who never won one playoff game with us and was ALWAYS hurt and then turn around and hate on Davis who made the most clutch catch of the postseason against the Seahawks in our playoff run and last year made that clutch catch against the Falcons before the defense screwed it up. Davis did have an under par year last year but to call him a failure or to say he sucks is pushing it a little. Remember last year against the Packers on Monday Night Football he pushed that guy right into the football on special teams to muff the punt and that single handedly kept us in the game and in playoff contention. That shows heart, even when he was struggling on offense, he got the job done on special teams. So to say he can excel in a lesser role on offense this year is not out of the question. Someones gotta get the ball and if Hesters getting double teamed why not it be Davis. Back to my Jack and Cokes.

if he gets cut and picked up by an UFL or whatever other league is present AND Grossman is throwing the ball to him…..3 drops 22 catches 500 yards 8tds

i do believe that knox will be our slot guy if bennet/hester are our 2 and 1 and then the ok rookie for our no 3.
