WCG Fantasy Football Season 4

I've been in the WCG Fantasy League for 4 seasons now and I'm looking forward to the fifth.  I will be happy to commish if that will help get the next season going.  I'm setting up my league at work and thought I might put a note up here.  Reply if you're interested and I'll setup the league (and a second if interest warrants it).  I think it fair to offer last season's teams right of first refusal to be in the league before adding new members.

I'm game for another year

here’s to hoping that I don’t have another huge collapse after starting off undefeated for like 8 weeks.

you can if you want

but i am pretty sure i can launch it and invite last years teams with one click. seems a bit earlier though.

One question...

What site do you use? If it’s anything other than ESPN I’m in, I can’t stand their set up.

by Jacob Hayes on Jun 8, 2009 10:59 PM CDT reply actions

I can only use ESPN

because Im pretty used to it and I dont use any other sites(NFL.com fantasy sucks)

by Zoro on Jun 9, 2009 10:53 AM CDT up reply actions

i cant stand espn either

espn is ugly. youd think a household name would have a better website layout

i prefer yahoo, even though yahoo doesnt have live fantasy scoring
personally, i prefer having to wait for the score— it creates suspense, and i wont stare at my screen for 5 hours watching my fantasy points slowly rack up
and if you really wanna know how many points you have, you can always check the box score for each game and figure your score out yourself

I'm down

I'll play

what kind of league is it? it’d be nice to start a keepers league on WCG

If you want to crown em...

Definitely like to get in

I have to ask, what do you do with the guys that abandon their teams half way into the season? That crap drives me nuts.

I'd be willing to set up a WCG pick 'em league

if there’s interest in it. I can set it up with a group name/password so it will only be people from here. I like doing a straight-up pick ‘em w/ confidence points, but I’m open to suggestion.

I'll definitely do it

but it sounds like you’ve already got 2 leagues worth. If you start another league, I’m game.

You can also set it up so that however many leagues end up started, each league’s regular season winners meet the other winners in the playoffs. That way, however many leagues you’ve got, there’s one WCG winner.

I'm guessing...

With the first pick in the 2009 WCG fantasy draft, xxx picks… Matt Forte.
With the second pick in the 2009 WCG fantasy draft, xxx picks… Jay Cutler.
With the third pick in the 2009 WCG fantasy draft, xxx picks… Devin Hester.

With the 126th pick in the 2009 WCG fantasy draft, xxx picks this years Mr. Irrelevant… Adrian Peterson.

Ha, no doubt.

Though I wonder if someone will actually pick Forte ahead of A.P.? I don’t know if I could stomach pulling for him on a weekly basis.

For those that haven't tried it.

Do not draft any player that rivals the Bears; packer, viking etc. It really makes for a more pleasurable fantasy experience. Plus Karma rewards you with Championships, REALLY. 2001 was the last FF season I had a rival player on my fantasy roster. Since then I have one five titles. Before then, not one.

Its probably just good luck for you

But ill join a lame draft during the season and try it

by Zoro on Jun 10, 2009 9:35 AM CDT up reply actions

Then It might be a coincidence

but I always do a FF the right way, by stats and predictions and all that.

COME ON!!! With as many nerds that post at this site (especially a fantasy post), no one shows the love?

Alright, I'll mention your Obi Won quote...

…and I’ll even throw a link your way.

Also, it’s… “In my experience, there’s no such thing as luck.”

I'm honestly considering Forte 2nd in all my leagues

Michael Turner’s legs may be fresh but he’s still getting old-ish, and the Falcons like to pass.
Adrian Peterson is considered the number 1 pick, and its hard to argue, but I still hate drafting him because he’s an injury risk, he loves fumbling, and the Vikings have no passing attack. So he either gets you 500 yards or 50 and 5 fumbles.
With Forte, you’ve got a team with a legitimate QB who other teams HAVE to respect, which opens lanes for the run. He’s an option to catch and rush, he’s young, doesn’t fumble anything, and he’s a Bear. That makes him the #1 RB on my board this year. I’ll skip AP and grab Brees or Brady, who will earn more points than any running back, anyway.

if the Vikings get brett farve

the Vikings will have a passing attack. And I think they will get farve, so AP is #1 in my book

by Puppet on Jun 10, 2009 1:33 PM CDT up reply actions

Im really pissed vikings Peterson took the original APs nickname

Peterson (bears) had that nickname since college. Vikings Peterson should get his own nickname.

i lit 'em up over in norseland with that lil nugget!!

they weren’t too happy about it… but rebutted with stats, so….
