What's up with Hunter

Maybe my memory is a bit hazy, but over the 2005 and 2006 seaons, wasn’t HH a definite cornerstone in our Defensive dominance, i always rememeber him being in the pile, flying to the ball like the rest of them, always being a sure wrap up tackler. or at least a hard enough hit, to slow the ball carrier up enough to let other guys in to finish the job. or am i just thinking about a different team?

I wish I could tell you with certainty

but I don’t really remember that much about him from those years. I suppose that’s an answer in and of itself.

I think it was the 2005 season

when he injured his hand and missed 2 or 3 games. But he definitely had a fall off last year in productivity… he went from 78 tackles (65 solo) in 2007 to 18 tackles in 2008.

Just my opinion but I think he saw a drop off in production

when Lovie/Angelo decided to get Manning installed as the nickel back. Hunter was often left in during 3rd and long plays as the “nickel” (not a true nickel, I know, but he was used in a similar role) because of his coverage skills. When Lovie decided that Manning would play the nickel full time HH lost significant playing time. Then his numbers dropped until the Bears began questioning his value. I could be full of crap, but that’s the way it looked to me.

If you can't laugh at yourself you must not be very funny.

Hillenmeyer sucked at pass coverage last year

There’s a reason his production went south.

Tampa game comes to mind....

The play in which Jerramy Stevens scored a TD. I remember when Stevens was put in motion (forcing HH in a one on one), then me screaming, "Time out, time out !!!! " I guess they couldn’t hear me :-(

"A lot of fans were drawn to me because they knew that whatever the score was, I was going to run as hard as I could on every play. You don't have that now, you have guys waiting for next week or even next year." - Walter Payton
