NightLink: Favre Tells Vikings "No."

Crying_brettfavre

It appears that the Neverending Story has endedBrett Favre has informed the Vikings that he will remain retired.  The NFC North will have the QBs of Jay Cutler, Aaron Rodgers, Matt Stafford, and either Tarvaris Jackson or Sage Rosenfels.  While there are mixed feelings on this, I am personally glad we don't have to face him in 2009.

As for 2010... who knows.

Disappointed

I was hoping to see if Favre could outdue himself in the INT category from last year…

Rumor has it Alex Brown keeps Chris Simms' right index finger in his back pocket for good luck.

Yeah

I’ll believe he’s really retired when kickoff happens and he’s not around.

I have a feeling...

that this might just be a ploy. I don’t think Favre really wants to go to training camp. I think if we have learned anything about Favre, it’s that he’s a flip flopper and that he can change his mind at any time. Still think Favre is a big douche. I’m just happy I don’t have to see Favre in the upcoming Madden game, his QB vision and stats was always so ridiculously overrated.

Vi "queens"

The farveless vikes will go 7-9 and third in the division GO BEARS!

by WavyGravy on Jul 28, 2009 4:52 PM CDT reply actions

You...

must be high. 7-9 huh? Funny, we’re definitely no worse off at quarterback, our defense is fully in tact almost to a T, we picked up Percy Harvin. But somehow, were going to drop 3 games from last season? You’re just still pissed that you couldn’t beat HOUSTON when it mattered……

by Figgs on Jul 29, 2009 9:39 AM CDT up reply actions

Right.

The only “improvement” to your 10-6 team was adding Harvin. He couldn’t stay healthy against SEC college competition… how do you think he’ll hold up in the NFL? I’d never wish an injury upon anyone, but it would surprise me if he managed to stay healthy.

Back to the main point… he is the only thing that Vikes fans seem to view as an improvement on your 10 win season last year. Whilst the 9 win Bears improved at QB, OLine, DLine coach, and RB. Think that is enough to improve from last year? I sure do.

And yes, the Houston game sucked. Big time. But that’s okay… because we have become a better team since then.

How does my comment....

Insinuate in any way that the main point is the Bears improving from last year. Brilliant.

All I’m doing is pointing out that it is ludicrous to put the Vikings at 7-9. I’m sure even you can agree to that.

Also, I’m glad you find comfort in the fact that you’ve improved your team slightly. Fact is, it isn’t good enough.

by Figgs on Jul 29, 2009 10:52 AM CDT up reply actions

I meant the main point of mine.

And yes, the Vikes should very well win more than 7 games.

Also, I’m glad you find comfort in the fact that you’ve improved your team slightly. Fact is, it isn’t good enough.

That actually is not a fact, it is your opinion.

We have improved greatly in multiple aspects of our game. That is a fact.

Let me do this another, simpler, way. The Vikes won 10 games, and haven’t really done anything to improve on that. The Bears won 9 games, and improved in many areas. That make sense?

Enough.....

We’ll see, just like we did last year. Then I’ll be interested in what excuse you will have then – you officially have just more than 5 months to start figuring it out. Good luck.

by Figgs on Jul 29, 2009 10:58 AM CDT up reply actions

Right.

“We’ll see” is the only way to be objective. And no need for excuses… the North will be a tough 2-way (and maybe even 3-way) battle this year. There is no denying the Vikes are tough, but there is also no denying that the Bears are too. How will it play out? “We’ll see.”

Yawn....

Thing is, no matter what I say to you – your opinion won’t change and you will bring things into the conversation that don’t really mean much. My original post was about the absurdity of 7-9, with a little jab about blowing it last year. So, “We’ll see” is a way for me to let you know that I’m not interested in where this is going – and to let you know we will let the coming season speak for itself. So, again, we’ll see.

by Figgs on Jul 29, 2009 11:39 AM CDT up reply actions

But favre was 68 for 125 for 822 yds, with 3 TD and 7INTs in the last 4 times hes faced the Bears….but eh

I was taking the tough stance like a lot of fans here. He won’t make the Vikes any better than they already were, but I for one am glad he’s not coming back. Not only cause it may prevent the Bears from making the playoffs, but more importantly tarnish his great legacy.

to get a feel of their reactions….good chunk are disappointed about this but of course there is the “thank god” chant going on though….One forum had a poll to see if “they” wanted him as starting QB and it came out to 62% yes 37% no….Some have gone on to hate/loathe him once again and others are now saying they should go after Vick….

I laughed when Kyle Orton stepped up when no one in Minnesota stepped up at qb last season. This season is going to be a new precedent in the Laughing-at-Bernard saga.

I've read a lot of dumb things in my day

but this takes the cake. Had to share from the DN.

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, the only availabke QB this season that would have been worth it for the Vikes in regard to overall cost and team improvement was Jeff Garcia. Not Favre. Not Sage. Not Cutler. Not Cassel. Not Vick. Not D. Anderson. Jeff fricking Garcia. And since we missed out on him, we move on with the ever improving T-Jack.

One of the greatest players the NFL ever saw

He earned my respect a very long time ago. Favre also is a class individual who has been through a lot personally with his father, wife as well as the impact of Hurricane Katrina. The NFL won’t be the same without him.

Cubs will win 79 to 83 games. Season has been over for weeks. St. Louis will eventually run away with this division. And you can print it. BLou (7/21/09)
