Johnny Knox Has A Surprising Fan

This article from the Chicago Tribune talks about how Chance McCoy (Colt's little bro) played at ACU with Knox. In this article Chance talks about his brother's reaction to Knox's play.

"Colt compared (Knox) favorably to Jordan Shipley and Quan Cosby at Texas,'' Chance McCoy said. "He said Johnny was the same type of guy, just at a smaller school. He said there was no doubt he'd be able to play in the NFL.''

I remember a lot of you raving about Jordan Shipley in that Will We Still Need WR Help Next Year? article, so you guys should be excited at these comparisons. Except I believe that Knox has way more speed than both of them. I have a feeling that Knox will end up as the starting slot WR, and that he will make some huge plays next year. If that happens and Iglesias can have a rookie year similiar to Steve Smiths(NYG), minus the injuries, then I feel confident in our WR core.

On a side note, I can't believe Texas didn't offer Chance a scholarship, even if it is only because of his brother, or at least didn't guarantee him a walk-on spot. Then again they might have, and Chance was smarter than his brother and chose not to go. That's directed at you ChiFan.

Chance didnt get a scholorship for a reason

And, as much as I hate to say it, that reason is Garrett Gilbert….the “hometown hero”. He led our High School to two state championship wins shattering god knows how many Texas QB records in the process…I don’t care for the kid much, but god damn he is an amazing QB.

A McCoy dynasty would have been funny though…

It says Chance is a WR...

What are you guys 4A? Because I know no Austin High School won two state 5A championships in the past 2 or 3 years, depending on when he started. I know because three of my recent ex-high school’s, just graduated woot, main rivals are Southlake, Ceder Hill, and Trinity. And them along with Allen have won the recent Texas state championships.

Again...

Chance is a WR, Gilbert is a QB. different positions, that shouldn’t have had any affect.

Yikes

I need to stop reading posts that early in the morning.

Now I don’t know. But Colt was pretty smart going to Texas. You’ll find out (again) this fall.

Compares favorably to Quan Cosby...

…who sat through the entire draft and never got a phone call?

Great.

I think Cosby's problem is that...

he would be lucky to be 5-6, its not a lack of skill just height.

Let's see him in an NFL game..

It’s hard to wait that long, but that’s pretty much where it really matters. I grew up around and follow a lot of D-II football, and there are about 6 teams in that division that could consitently compete in Division I or Iaa – and there is a lot of talent at that level. Abilene Christian is one of those schools. They not only field good teams, but they play in one of the toughest conferences in the division. It was no surprise to me that Knox was a star of his senior bowl game even though competing against top-tier DI corners.

That said, he’s still a rookie receiver, and like all the others, will have to play with the big boys for a few games and make something happen before I’ll get on the bandwagon.

Johnny Knox

I’m a fan. This guy is lights out with his speed. As long as he catches the ball well, he will be in the WR rotation. Reminds me of David Meggett.

Expecting big things from this smaller WR.

I really see him surprising a lot of people. I definitely think he will fit right in and do good things for us. Looks like he could be an exciting receiver from what I have seen and read about him and I am anxious to see what he can do during the regular season.

Hear about the blind hooker, you gotta hand it to her.
