Myths about Jay Cutler and the Bears that need to be dealt with :
Myths that need to be dealt with :
#1 Jay Cutler is a whining loser : John Elway cried like a baby until Baltimore traded him before he played a down for them. He did okay for the Broncos as I recall getting two rings. Nobody remembers John Elway as a whining loser. Cutler played from behind last year and had the 30th ranked defense in the NFL to help him, hence the 600+ passing attempts and 18 interceptions.Oh, and when one is looking at Cutler's win loss record, rember your ability to perceive correctly. Read between the lines. When the crappy Bronco defense held the opponent to 21 points or less, Jay Cutler is 13-1. That one loss by the way was a last second 82 yard Hail Mary by Brett Favre. Cutler grew up a Bear fan and wanted to be a Bear after he found out McDaniels tried to trade him. Who wouldn't do the same thing ? Thanks Josh, and thank you baby Jesus, you made my life. Stellar move #1.
# 2 Jay Cutler has no one to throw to : This is the mantra of fans who get their opinions from headlines, and again, cannot perceive correctly. No one to throw to ? Go tell that to Greg Olsen, Dez Clarke, Matt Forte, Devin Hester (who will explode this year now he has a QB that can throw deep), Earl Bennett (Cutler's college receiver buddy, proven chemistry and rapport there), Garret Wolfe and Brandon Rideau (who does nothing but catch everything thrown at him, as does Johnny Knox - the fastest player at the NFL Combine). How many targets does Cutler need to make a completed pass anyway? How many receivers can you hit at the same time ? Jim Harbaugh had Tom Waddle - that was it. QBs make WRs not the other way around. Who was Brandon Marshall before Cutler ? Eddie Royal caught 33 passes in college before Cutler hit him 91 times as a rookie. Let's see those numbers when The Zohan tries to hit Bronco WRs deep - can't do it, won't happen. Marshall knows it and wants out, wants no part of The Zohan. Last season Matt Forte faced 8 men stacked in the box all year long, behind a suspect OL - and STILL had a stellar rushing/catching rookie year. How do opposing defenses cope with the sheer speed of Knox and Hester on the outside, 'college buddy' Bennett and Brandon Rideau slipping inside, whilst also covering the best TE combo in the NFL - Dez Clarke + Greg Olsen - AND the rushing/receiving threat of Forte from the backfield .... oh, and then there is the extremely mobile bootleggin Cutler to worry about. Did I mention we signed Orlando Pace (stellar move #2), Frank Omiyale and Kevin Shaffer to bolster the OL ? Chris Williams the 1st rd draft pick is back 100% healthy too. Not too shabby. Depth and talent on the OL, wow, what's going on with the Bears. Indefensible really. Yeah, Cutler's got no one to throw to. Oops, nearly forgot ... when defenses are busy trying to defend all those passing threats ... we could, uh ... like, maybe run the ball.
# 3 The defense will let the Bears down like it did last year : the Bears led three particular games comfortably last year and then lost all three by a combined 8 points because of a tired defense that couldn't get off the field because they knew the Bears didn't have a QB that could throw the long ball. Not Orton anyway. Those games - if we allow for the incredible ways we threw them all away - could have helped us to a 12-4 season. And we're not better than we were last season ? A number of reasons to be hopeful for this year are pretty obvious. The signing of Jay Cutler. Yes, him again, on defense this time. He was the best defensive signing this off season. Cutler can make every throw in the book and has the ability to extend plays with his scrambling. With our new QB and improved OL, there won't be so many 3 and outs and the defense gets rested. Tommie Harris and Brian Urlacher, carried injuries throughout the entire season. Urlacher had an arthritic back as he recovered from neck surgery, Tommie with his hamstring. Rod Marinelli - widely regarded as the best DL coach in the business was another important signing for the Bears (stellar move #3), and reports Harris to be healthy and Urlacher to be outstanding. We have the deepest talent in the NFL at the DL position even if Harris goes down again. Tillman will be back for the start of the season, CB being our deepest position probably. The signing of Pisa T. to bolster that LB corps of Urlacher/Briggs is Stellar move #4, and Jamar Williams is waiting in the wings if Urlacher goes down. There is the not inconsiderable change of defensive play caller, with Lovie Smith now calling the shots - doing what got him the job of HC in the first place. Stellar move #5. With the Bears' first draft pick this year being a Defensive lineman who can jump out of a swimming pool. And he was just the first of TWO DL picks, so we look set for a pass rush to bolster our 5th rated run defense and lessen the pressure on our secondary that got hammered last year giving way too much time to opposing QBs. HE JUMPED OUT OF THE POOL.
The Broncos may or may not have used their picks well, only time will tell. But they'll have to find a Franchise QB, because the Zohan ain't all that ... and the Bears have been looking for one ever since Jimmy Mac. Good luck with the search, and we'll take you back next year Kyle, we need a reliable backup who knows the system.
Let's see, what have we got so far ? A beefed up offensive/defensive line ... they're good things right ? Huge expectations for our running game with Kevin Smith back 100% fit this year, and depth to boot with AP and the mighty midget Garret Wolfe. A rejuvenated, healthy defense that's got the best DL coach in the business to help us get that pass rush that helps our secondary ... oh and the coming of Jay Cutler to lead us to championship after championship .... the future is bright … the future is blue and orange. Any questions ?

QBs and WRs make each other
Case in point: Watch Tony Romo implode this season, and check Brady’s numbers pre-Moss. Oh, and we can’t forget about 21 TD / 11 INT Matt Cassel, which should be hilarious to watch.
I do think Eddie Royal will fall off the map, but Brandon Marshall should still produce – also, it should be interesting (for fantasy players at least) to see if Orton is still apt to throw to TEs now that he’s under Josh McCoattailsrider’s system.
Is Clint Hurdle fired yet? YES
Is John Paxson fired yet?
Is Ralph Friedgen fired yet?
Is Vinny Del Negro fired yet?
Is Dan O' Dowd fired yet?
Is Jerry Angelo fired yet?
don't cut and paste from word directly
there is an option on the post edit page that will let you do it, it should clean up the mess

Johnny Knox wasn't the fastest WR at the combine
that honor was bestowed upon Darrius Heyward-Bey. Thus, Al Davis decided to take him at #7 overall
Couple things
On your #2: Look, I know you’re excited. But right now, Jay has Greg Olsen, Dez Clark, Matt Forte, and Devin Hester to throw to. We have no damn idea how Earl Bennett is since we barely saw him last year, and resting on their collegiate production is a dangerous assumption. Garrett Wolfe needs to smell the field before we even consider him. Brandon Rideau? Not sure if he’ll make the team, especially if we wind up getting Matt Jones.
On your #3: Jarron Gilbert jumped out of a pool. What if I had a 46" vertical? (I don’t) But all that shows is athleticism – it doesn’t show how great of a football player he is.
Otherwise, great post!
I'M A MAN! I'M 23!
yeah, I think #2 had some kool-aid spilled on it.

Myth #4
The Bears are not a cheap franchise.
Players that have received handsome contracts the last few years:
Tommie Harris, Brian Urlacher, Lance Briggs, Robbie Gould, Nathan freakin’ Vasher, Izzy Idonije, Devin Hester, Desmond Clark and FA’s Orlando Pace, Kevin Shaffer, Frank Omiyale, Pisa Tinoisamoa.
I surely have missed some names. Please forgive me, but you get the point.
Kevin Jones,
sorry. I had to mention him.
Key signing, IMO.
Good post!
I didn’t care for all of the Orton bashing, but no big deal. It’s still a great post and gotta wreck from me.
Nice post
I’m sick of the talk, and soon it will be settled on the field.
I know it’s probably a typo, but it’s Kevin Jones not Smith.
