As before, I'm following: Brad Biggs, Jeff Dickerson, Greg Olsen, Matt Forte, Vaughn McClure, David Haugh, Fontel Mines, Dez Clark, Tommie Harris, WindyCG and ChicagoBears.com. All links *should* open in a new window!

Be advised: Anyone calling themselves Jay Cutler is a lying liar. (Helmet tip: Roger_Ledger!)

Don’t scare me like that! Pat is the MVP of the team, thank god he’s ok.

At least Biggs said what was wrong and that he was okay

Dickerson just said “Signed new snapper, Mannelly missed practice”.

If I wanted to be evil, I would’ve done that one. LOL :-P

Afalava is playing SS now?

I thought he was at FS? Payne at FS scares the hell out of me. But, Steltz anywhere on the field really scares the hell out of me, so I’ll take it.

Haven't you heard?

That the Bears safety positions are interchangeable? Yeah right!

Well

you’ve seen one piece of crap… you’ve seen every piece of crap.

I hope Marinelli really has fixed our D-line b/c our secondary is horrible.

Either way really sucks. Why oh why did we release Brown is beyond me

by bears rock on Aug 11, 2009 8:01 PM CDT up reply actions

Mike Brown barely got a job

Let’s not forget how often he got burned in coverage last year.

UHHH HUUUH

LOL should I considered that a reasonable response?hmmmm lets think about this ok a Free Safety roams around the field in coverage.thinking what the offense is going to do.He doubles WR’S TE’S he has to be smart and instinctive.Ok a Strong Safety helps the run game hard hitter doesn’t have to be a smart player just physical rough tough hence (Strong Safety ) ok since we understand what the positions means lets look at what we have.We have Craig Steltz Kevin Payne Bullocks and Al Alfalva. Now if we had Brown at FS and Payne at SS are secondary would be natural.Brown no need to explain we all know how good of a player he is and Payne would be at his natural place.A hard hitting safety and a smart safety but now we have every witch player moving around every witch way.

Commas are your friend.

D. Manning is the Bears FS, and it has been said that he’s playing well in his dual role. He excelled as the nickel last season, and Lovie was quoted as saying that the nickel is a more difficult position to pick up than FS. He’s certainly the most physically gifted defensive back the Bears got, so naturally you want to have him on the field as much as possible.

Not just commas, either.....

When you're running a zone defense

you still have to play coverage. It’s not a run-support-only position. Of course, it’s hard to do either when you’re on IR.

MBrown was a fine player

but even he could not make plays from the sideline where he was way too much of his career. Letting him go was the smart move, they need a guy who can play a whole season.

He played what 14-15 games last year? it’s not just his skills and the knowledge it is all the intangibles he brings to the table

by bears rock on Aug 12, 2009 11:40 AM CDT up reply actions

uh

he was part of a terrible secondary. apparently those intangibles weren’t doing shit.

Well, if there's any bright side for Fontel

This might help him keep a paycheck, and stay on the Bears Injured Reserve.
