The Bears Den - 8/13/09

Israel Idonije feels great after losing a lot of weight over the offseason.
Mark Anderson is having a strong training camp thus far.
Chicago Tribune
Devin Hester might have to do more than catch and run in 2009.
Wednesday's practice notes.
5 Bears that have had the best training camps.
Mark Anderson has to show the Bears that he belongs as a starter.
Jay Cutler wants to have some input on the Bears receivers. I don't blame him.
Dan Pompei believes that Michael Vick's football talents are a poor fit with the Bears.

The defensive line's goal is to get to the quarterback more often. A position group wanting to do their job....novel concept.

Again, Cutler and Olsen are quite the duo thus far.

Bullocks
I liked David Haugh’s article on the Bears who have made a solid impression. Could Lance Louis be an heir apparent at tackle? I always thought before the season is over that Bullocks will make some sort of impact, and may surprise some of his critics.
Beginning his eighth season, he committed to strength and conditioning in the off-season and returned in the best shape of his career.
Does this mean Turner is going to expand the playbook for McKie? Maybe have a FB off-tackle run?

unfortunately,
he’s not going anywhere as long as we’re a “get off the bus running” team…

NFL.com
has a decent post about the bears here
I would debate you, but that would only lead to me being dragged away in handcuffs...

Boers and Bernstein have been live from camp the last two days
Bernstein was just trashing Rick Morrisey, who apparently thinks Cutler isn’t very good LOL. Bernsteain said Cutler has been talking trash in scrimmages… and IF a DB ever has any reason to celebrate anything against Cutler on a single play… Cutler takes it personal, and makes him look like a complete fool on the next play or next scrimmage.
Bernstein was talking with an un-named Pro Bowl Bear, who said Cutler was the best QB he’s ever seen. Bernstein asked, “You mean, the best QB you’ve ever seen in a Bears jersey?” The player responded, “No. The best QB I’ve ever seen.” Ever."
"You win because of the quarterback. We have to get that position stabilized. We're fixated on that." -- Jerry Angelo (12.30.2008)
Jerry Angelo trades for Jay Cutler! (4.2.2009)
.
Bernstein and I are aligned in that aspect
Morrissey’s a moron.
I’m interested in hearing who that unnamed PB Bear is tho….
I'M A MAN! I'M 23!
Hester is willing to block
That’s good, he’s a former DB so I should hope he likes hitting guys. Former defensive guys always do. Last year for Ball St (oh yes I’m going there) Nate Davis would go out and be the lead blocker on reverses and other running plays and he loved it because he played LB in high school.

Great.

Looks like TO will be out for this weekend.
I was hoping he’d play, so we could see how our DB’s (whoever’s healthy) would do against their big 3 in TO, Evans and Parish. Oh well.

I just hope they're careful in the parking lot.
Especially if Marshawn Lynch is still driving.
