Orton first half results

Wow, so much for the next savior in Denver and we were dumb for giving away a great QB. 3 picks in three drives. In a way a feel bad for him but in a way the Bronco fans were annointing him as the next probowl Qb. I don't know how to feel. He has made some nice throws and moved the ball but all three of his interceptions were horrible throws. It could be a long year for the broncos offense. Here comes Chris Simms!

I don't feel bad...

for Josh McDaniels or their front office.

I do feel bad for their fans because I know the Denver fans are awesome football fans.

Having said that, they drank so much of their own kool-aid early on that now they have that much more to throw up after having seen Orton go 3 for 3 in the INT department.

Denver ends the half with ZERO points!

I know it is just pre-season, but if the Bears ended the first half with ZERO points… I would be super-pissed, let alone if it happened after we traded away our best player!

I’m not glad that Denver will suck this year, but I sure as hell feel vindicated as a fan….

And to make matters worse...

Simms actually looks half-way decent… of course Bronco fans are saying it’s against the 49ers 2nd, 3rd, and 4th string defense… which actually isn’t true because Reggie Smith picked off Orton in the first half and was still in the game the whole drive the Broncos just had.

Simms

He was throwing against 2nd and 3rd teamers, that’s why he looked half-way decent. I wouldn’t look too much into his performance.

Yeah the twitter updates have been amusing

All from Adam_Schefter:

Interesting stat on Broncos-49ers telecast: Kyle Orton’s career NFL record is 21-12, Jay Cutler’s is 17-20. And btw, Orton looking sharp.

And as soon as I tweet Orton looking sharp, Nate Clements picks him off in endzone. Bring back Cutler!!!! :)

Forget the SI cover jinx. I’ve now praised Alex Mortensen and Kyle Orton – and watched each get picked seconds after my Tweet. I’m lethal.

Kyle Orton – Oooooow. Two drives, two picks.

Three drves, three picks for Orton!!!

Honestly was planning to pick Orton in my fantasy draft. And after seeing this, I don’t know if I’ll be able to bring myself to do it.

Then SI_PeterKing:
Worst thing about the 3 picks: Orton neglected a wide-open receiver to throw the first pick—to Nate Clements—in the end zone.

Three interceptions in 25 minutes for Kyle Orton here at Candlestick. The one thing McDaniels won’t have is a QB throwing picks. Trouble.

I admit… I’m kind of addicted.

PRE SEASON

it is just preseason or so the die hards say. how many times have we heard it in the past. when we have been mediocre in pre season warm ups critics have knocked us for being mediocre or downright suck or even when we have surprised ourselves and dominated the other team, the press and the pundits say well its just preseason and it was against a scaled down version of a full first team. if we completely rule the roost at buffalo. the critics will say the bills rested so and so and fielded a weak team. and if i dare say it we suck then the critic will be all over us like a rash in anything that is negative ten fold, but it is when it matters the most that it is going to happen. our opening at green bay. we will not suck or otherwise we should dominate. go bears i cant wait

Mind you...

…Rex Grossman’s QB ratings of 0 and 1.3 in Bears’ regular season games still stick in the memory.

Here's one guy I don't mind seeing eat some crow:

Mark Schlereth. I want Kyle to succeed…but by God…that guy’s been ripping the Bears ever since the trade. I hope he get humiliated by that nasal-voiced, egg-headed wiener that’s always debating/bating him.

He's a complete twit

He’s so biased and wrong it hurts my ears to listen to his dribble. I like Kyle, but I want him to fail miserably because of the all the worthless coverage of Cutler and his bad attitude.

he hated the bears before the trade

in our superbowl run he was always taking crap about rex, some of it was deserved but most wasnt, I hate it when former players go on tirades about current players “attitude” or “demeanor” it just makes them sound like old farts that wish they could still play, plus schlereth was just a gaurd, almost the furthest away from a skill position you can get.

I'm fairly confident he'll pick it up a little

…but for the time being, womp womp.

btw, i’m by no means a Broncos fan even though I live in Colorado. Just went to college at CU. Go Bears!

I'm a Dodger fan too.

I was so angry at the Raiders when they left so I adopted my dad’s hometown team The Bears.

Its more interesting

to watch them type what they’ve been told all along…I like Kyle, don’t get me wrong, I never cheered against him and I wish him the best in Denver and hope he does great, but he is NOT a Probowl QB and never will be…he is a solid starter who manages the game and best traits are short and intermediate throws.

I agree

I was following their thread last night and laughing out loud at KO picks and them turning from " it was one bad pass" to get hiim the hell out of there..

Maybe QB play and winning are not related...

oh sorry, I was just imagining what is was like to be a Broncos fan this year. Kyle is a career backup and that’s it. He will give way to someone else by the 4th or 5th game and drop by once a year to play great in relief of an injured starter one week and suck ass the next and go back to the bench. If he stays in the NFL he needs to go to a running team with a great defense; a la Trent Dilfer/John Kitna.

Hmmm...

Orton: 32.6 QB rating
Cutler: 30.8 QB rating

Sweet! This is a fun game; can we play again next week?

Seriously though, guys… this is just preseason and I’m still not quite sure why you’re so angry about this whole deal. As a Broncos fan, I was pleased with what we got in the trade and it sure seems as though you feel the same way. Can’t we leave it at that and move on?
