Dusty out for season - Official

Fg7-bionic-peter_medium

From the official Chicago Bears team website.

"Bears defensive tackle Dusty Dvoracek is out for the season after team doctors discovered and repaired a torn ACL in his right knee during arthroscopic surgery Friday morning."

Link here.

Looks like it's another wasted year for Dusty.  I guess at this point it's really best to just end up cutting him and making room on the roster rather than putting him on IR.  Too bad, if he could stay healthy, I think he'd be beneficial to the line.  I think he's had enough second chances though, and we should move on.

at least...

he’ll be recognized as the most oft-injured player of the decade.

best to cut him. taking up a roster spot. i wish him the best of luck wherever he goes. hopefully he doesn’t have marc columbo-itis (oft injured for bears, goes somewhere else plays well)

Sorry Dusty...

Time to try somewhere else…

I feel really bad for Dusty..

He loves to play football. I wish the guy luck, even if for another team. I certainly don’t dislike or have negative thoughts about a guy because he got hurt. That’s really kind of ridiculous to respond that way.

by DisCUBbobulated on Aug 28, 2009 12:41 PM CDT reply actions

I Hear You DisCubs

I never wish for a player to get hurt,(exception Brett Favre). It’s just that football is a business. And as a business the ROI, Return On Investment , regarding Dusty has been extremely poor. So being out of patience as a fan with Dusty as a player I wish him well in life wherever he winds up going. I have certain theories as to why Dusty is injured as often as he is though so let’s just say he probably did it to himself.

by Gesiakob on Aug 28, 2009 1:01 PM CDT up reply actions

Hmm

I dunno about your theories, but you never know. I liked what he showed when he was healthy, but honestly I never knew he was out nearly as much as he has been.

Also, I don’t want to see any player hurt, but if I could pick one, it would be Jerrid Allen. :D

Lol

I don’t care how it’s spelled, I still want his face rubbed off on the turf.

perhaps it's something in the water

at OU? Bad conditioning program? Too much bulk, not enough stretching?

by ethan a on Aug 28, 2009 11:59 PM CDT up reply actions

yeah b/c stretching saves you from torn ACLs

Damn, if only I had stretched before getting cheap shotted in La Crosse

Then maybe I wouldn’t have had a torn ACL ;)

In my case stretching doesn't help cause you can't pull fat.

Later Dusty

Too bad. Tough guy with a brittle body. Time to let him go. If he can ever get healthy he may make a good situational player for someone at a cheap price.

Better now, than during the season. Good luck, Dusty.

Shhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhocking!

I feel for the guy but let’s face it, he’s just one of those guys. It’s not his fault.

I was told that I ruined this house with my anger

by tempchad on Aug 28, 2009 2:57 PM CDT reply actions

I Think It Might Be His Fault

This is not a FACT………..this is my opinion. There is no rationale for this abount of injuries or breaking down of the body other the STEROIDS. There, I said it. I truely believe that at some point in Dusty’s career he was juicing. Whether it was High School or College. So if it was true he juiced let it serve as a warning to all the young athelete’s out there that want to take a substance to increase performance.

by Gesiakob on Aug 28, 2009 3:45 PM CDT up reply actions

So...

… do you think Mike Brown was juicing too?

by SC Dave on Aug 28, 2009 5:25 PM CDT up reply actions

uh, yeah...

Achilles, Lisfranc, “calf injury”, torn need ligaments, and then another “calf injury.” Have you not been a Bears fan for the last six years? Some people are statistical nightmares when it comes to injuries, and to attribute it to steroids simply because DD, what, is a big guy? Where does your opinion come from other than from stereotyping? Truly? How is your assertion at all rational?

by ethan a on Aug 29, 2009 12:08 AM CDT up reply actions

How is your assertion at all rational?

You’ve not read much Gesiakob, have you? ;-D

It Is Pure Speculation On My Part

I never stated it as fact. Dusty was on the verge of breaking an NFL record for the amount of games missed due to injuries. Yes there is scientific data to back up my claim as it relates to steroids use. The body starts to break down from the use of steroids in relation to bones and ligaments. This is why there are warning about their usage. So I am entitled to my opinion. If people disagree with my opinion that’s okay.

by Gesiakob on Aug 29, 2009 1:04 PM CDT up reply actions

Dvoracek can't be cut and has to be placed on the IR if I'm to understand the NFL rules properly

You can’t come up with an injury settlement for a player that gets injured during a preseason game. So that means the Bears will have to put him on the IR and officially cut him next spring.

What a drag

for the ol’ DustyDude, cant seem to catch a break..well maybe, tears aint “breaks” in my view. To bad though, seems to be a team kinda guy who’ll do whatever and like it as long as he can be playin’.

So what you are saying is

That Dusty is just Mark Prior for the Bears

Exactly!

Except I kept Mark Prior out of my analogy because I didn’t want to ruffle anymore feathers. Prior is on the list, yes.
