Whats gonna be....................
In light of a recent post from my buddy Hovanec, I thought I would counteract his negative post with a much more positive one for everyone.
Positive Thought #1- Jay Cutler is our Quarterback!
Positive Thought #2- Matt Forte should have an even BIGGER year (even with less carries) without those 8 and 9 man fronts that he had to put up with last year. Watch his yards per carry go up big time.
Positive Thought #3- Bob Babich is no longer our Defensive Coordinator. Nuff Said.
Positive Thought#4- Al Afalava is starting to look more and more like Chris Harris (who I was a big fan of) everyday.
Positive Thought#5- What a great play by Payne when he broke up that pass by Eli last week. That kind of effort is what we will need from him if he is going to be our new Free Safety.
Positive Thought#6- With the notion that Payne and Afalava will be our starting safeties, that will thrust Daniel Manning back to the Nickel where I feel he is much better suited.
Positive Thought#7- With the addition to Tinoisomoa to our linebacking core we should be have one of the best in the NFC if not the league.
Positive Thought#8- Earl Bennett did show me he is a capable #2 throughout Training Camp and last week against the Giants.
Positive Thought#9- The retooled offensive line looks like it could be better than last year (Did anyone even hear Osi Uminyouras name called last week). Gotta love the depth and competition that our O Line brings.
Positive Thought#10- One or the other between DA and Brandon Rideau WILL have a breakout year this year. I saw too much from both of them during camp to think otherwise.
Positive Thought#11- Speaking of breakout years, Greg Olsen is primed to have one of those this year and possibly be a Pro Bowl candidate.
Positive Thought#12- With all the depth on this roster, our Special Teams should be a force to be reckon with and should be able to get my boy Hester back in the end zone.
Positive Thought#13- Jay Cutler running for 10 yards last week is a dynamic we are not used to and I for one am looking forward to seeing a truly mobile QB for once. Love those bootlegs too.
Positive Thought#14- With Brett Favre returning to play for the Viqueens the spotlight has been removed from Cutler and the Bears. Which should bode well for us, I don't think I could take anymore meaningless, Cutler said this-Cutler did that stories. I like flying under the radar. Since hes been back they have been the Lead In on every media outlet. And that is fine by me.
Positive Thought#15- In honor of my 15th positive thought, there are only 15 days until the regular season!!! Bring on the Pack, cause the last time we played them week one, we shut their asses out and went on to the Super Bowl (which is in Miami, just like then). Hopefully if we do make the trip back to Miami and the end result is a little different. Who wouldn't like to see the Colts there if we do indeed make it back, so we can stick it to them as well.

Dude...........You Have No Idea.............
When the Bears lose any given Sunday, I am in a Baaaaaaaaad mood the rest of the day. And I also stay positive and stay optomistic. I just get upset if they lose games because of stupidity.

Rest of the day, try the whole week........................
And when the lose before a bye week, I make like a Bear and Hibernate. But there is nothing like the anticipation for each game, its unlike any other sport that I watch. It grows on you to the point where you just cant take it anymore. This has been one of the hardest offseasons of my life, because my Cubbies arent giving me much reason to watch and I just been waiting on pins and needles to see this new and improved team, and thats not even mentioning the fact that we are playing the Packers week 1. Sometimes I dont know if my heart can take it. Im workin on a Bakers Dozen as far as heart attacks are concerned.

I also have an affliction
however I know that it is irrational so I stopped making fanpost cause they tend to turn into gushing, which is embarrassing especially last year, when we had little hope, so I know how bronco fans feel this year.

and on the positive tip, I hope Al Afalava can cover better than Chris Harris!
by Lester A. Wiltfong Jr. on Aug 29, 2009 6:24 PM CDT reply actions 0 recs
If Payne can step up on coverage...
Afalava can have more freedom to fill those gaps in the box where it seems like he is best. But the catch is Payne has to cover, which is why I was soo happy with that play Payne made on the Giants. I liked the closing speed, he just looked comfortable out there. Might have been my favorite play of the game.

LB corp
With the addition to Tinoisomoa to our linebacking core we should be have one of the best in the NFC if not the league.
I don’t think outsiders would ever choose LBs that play in a 4-3 as the best in the league, because they’re rarely asked to rush the passer. That’s why teams who run the 3-4 will always have the honor of best linebacking crew in the NFL.

I see what youre saying but name a better one in the NFC
I would put them up against anyone. Its all about whos had the recent success. And since Pitt won last year everyone is infatuated with the 3-4. But with quality players a Tampa 2 can be just as deadly especially one with a solid line backing core.

As far 4-3's go
I would agree they’re probably the best in the NFC. Minnesota has a very good corp as well.

Thought #11
Well said! Greg Olsen is a great athlete and Tight End, and I also believe he will have a great year for the Bears.
by br0nxb0mbers23 on Aug 30, 2009 11:45 AM CDT reply actions 0 recs
I know I'll be accused of being a troll here but,
I’m just not that big a fan of Olsen. He is very athletic and has great speed for a TE, but I haven’t been impressed by his hands or his ability to fight for a pass. Also, I rarely, if ever, see him run over anyone after he makes a catch, not even DB’s. In fact, he usually is driven backwards.
I think he will have a good year as far as number of receptions, but I wish he played a little “tougher” at that position. Just an observation.
by BearFan611 on Aug 30, 2009 12:47 PM CDT up reply actions 0 recs
Your not wrong as for as breaking tackles..............
But to say he doesnt have good hands would not be correct. This guy has some of the best hands as far as TEs are concerned in the entire league. And you will start to see a lot more of those hands with a dependable QB that can make ALL the throws. As much as I enjoyed Ortons smarts and heart he did not have a very large skillset, it was limited to alot of dink and dunk throws. But w/ Cutty stretching the field Olsen can use his solid speed and hands more effectively. You know I went to over 10 training camp sessions this year and I saw also make 3 or 4 one handed grabs that were some of the most impressive of any catch I saw at camp. You are definitely not a troll, its called having an opinion.

Agreed
I think his hands are great for a Teight End, and should have a good year.
by br0nxb0mbers23 on Aug 30, 2009 1:28 PM CDT up reply actions 0 recs
I haven't been to any of the practices, so I'll take your word for it...
I guess I still remember the Carolina game last year and also the first preseason game against Buffalo where he dropped one that was right in his hands. It’s not that I don’t like him or don’t want him to be successful, I just would prefer a TE that dishes out more punishment. Has he ever shown the ability to fight for a pass against a defender? I don’t remember him doing it over the last two seasons, but I could be wrong.
I do agree with you that he should have a big numbers season this year and I think he would have even with Orton, but this does give him more of an opportunity.
by BearFan611 on Aug 30, 2009 2:23 PM CDT up reply actions 0 recs
For sure cant argue abuout the outcome of the carolina game.......
That was extremely disappointing, especially when its an x bear Chris Harris stripping it from him which he attributed to the Bears coaching of previous years. I really liked Harris its too bad we let him go. Olsem definitely needs to get a lot more tough, but its not out of the realm of possibility. But you cant teach speed and that might be his best asset.
And as far as the dropped pass in Buffalo, that was more of a product of timing and repetition with cutler. This will be a work in progress for all the people he is passing to because besides maybe Bennett, who played with him in college, no one has played with a guy that can hit any of his options at any point in a play. Hes able to hit any of his options on the field on certain plays, cause one he can make the throw, and two he is much more comfortable out there than other guys trying to continue to improve at that position. Thats what you pay for when you trade for a Pro Bowl QB and that is what we should all expect from him.

Greg. Honestly this is a great post.
Each example that you chose to list was spot-on and I applaud you. I agree with everything you said and couldn’t have put it better myself. You have a certain aura that emits the colors of the bears spectrum that flows around you and with every word you speak it becomes brighter and shoots out tiny images of the Bears “C” and the bear itself to all the children of the world.
