some changes

I don’t see us keeping two FB’s. Some teams don’t even carry one. and as much as i hate to say it, Davis will probably take the place of Rideau. i can see Melton getting a roster spot, as well as toenia.

marcus freeman, with the pick tonight and solid play, might take McClover’s spot. I could also see DJ Moore getting the nod over Hamilton. Bullocks hasn’t impressed me much either. Steltz could take his spot if nothing else for upside and ST play.

2 FB's can't make it

the only way we have 2 FB’s is if we keep 4 TE’s and 1 of ’em is dual position guy. If Kellen Davis or Michael Gaines can play FB then maybe they both make the roster.

Freeman and Lance Louis could maybe be snuck onto the practice squad.

I don’t see Marcus Hamilton making the team, unless the secondary injuries really are that bad. Wouldn’t Woodny Turenne make it before him anyway? I think Steltz is a goner too.

With Jamar Williams and Roach’s versatility, I can see Hunter being cut. Especially if McGlover sticks. Matt Toeaina has a good shot too because of Tommie’s health issues.

This is tough...

I would need to sleep on it. Some tough choices need to be made

...

Definitely some hard decisions.
I would like both Aromashadu, and Rideau to make it, but I think Rashied Davis will make it, because of his special teams play. He made two good tackles against the Broncos. I was reading a few articles that say after the first three receivers its not just the best receiver but its about special teams play as well. Thats why Rashied Davis may make it, not that I want him to. Hmmm not sure though.

I caught that article too

But i think thats why McClover gets a spot. Him and AP in coverage with Idonije is good coverage for special teams

i would not like to be in a spot where you cut a player and he starts showing more than the potential you saw in him when he was drafted. the other thing is if he gets picked up by a division rival and he plays better than you ever realised.would you base your decisions on the coaching staff or on the drafting commitee. it would be a very difficult position to be in.

by stepeo on Aug 31, 2009 8:58 AM CDT reply actions   0 recs

I think 2 FB is not going to happen i say BR gets cut he hasn’t shown up offense or special teams so.Idthink that’s going to work out.

by bears rock on Aug 31, 2009 9:37 AM CDT reply actions   0 recs

While I would like to keep Rideau...

I see R Davis getting that spot. Davis has simply played better on ST and that seems to count for more in JAs world.

I am worried that AP gets the axe and they stick with Wolfe (that is a bad move).

I see Jason Davis getting cut and Gaines making the team as a TE/FB, just a label anyway.

Raiola goes to the PS and I see Buenning getting cut outright.

Steltz may get Bullocks spot, but it’s a complete coin flip.

McClover gets cut and replaced by Freeman.

Melton sticks and so does Toeaina.

Lastly, Moore stays and Hamilton goes; Turenne ends up on the PS.

There are no stupid questions, but there are a LOT of inquisitive idiots.

I Agree LostinSTL

Wolfe show me nothing. It’s time. If they let AP go that would be an incrediblely stupid move. I don’t think Lovie Smith is stupid so I don’t see it.

Wolfe and Davis

- I think Wolfe and Rahsied Davis make it for better or for worse.
- I still think we only keep 5 WRs.
- I don’t see McClover or Hillenmeyer making it
- DJ Moore will be on the team

I added 3 and cut 3. I think my math actually works out I hope

For the most part

I like your roster Teh. My only changes would be dropping Damion Raiola, Marcus Hamilton and a FB, while adding Wolfe, Turienne, and Rashied Davis. Yes I said it, seven WRs.
The big IF is IF Hester or Bennett go down. We will wish we had all three- Rideau, DA and Rashied Davis.

Looking good

I think they only carry 1 FB like in years past, McKie sticks. And I see McGlover getting cut. I don’t think they’ll bring 9 OL either.

why would we keep bullocks

instead of keeping Craig Steltz… he is a second year 4th round pick. and like may said draft status keeps players around for a little while..hell he hasnt even really been given a chance. we will keep hunter hillenmeyer to back up urlacher as well. i highly doubt we keep four running backs and four tightends. we should open up with 6 wideouts..both rookies will make the team…again draft status. plus knox has insane speed.

Bring back our honey bears...sick and tired of hearing about the dallas cowboy cheerleaders and the bars they go work at when they quit. cold weather + cheerleaders in skimpy outfits = lots of fun

by tomh115 on Sep 1, 2009 8:16 AM CDT reply actions   0 recs

Rebuttal

- I have never really heard anything good about Steltz in two training camps so far. 4th round isn’t elite either. I think that is a coin flip between Bullocks and Steltz and either way I don’t care who we keep but hopefully next year we will upgrade that position.

- If we keep Hunter then Freeman is out. 6 LBs is more than enough for a 4-3. If Urlacher goes down, Pisa has quickness to move to MLB and then Roach or even Jamar can take the sam spot.

- Lovie always says we are a running team. My theory is he would rather have an extra RB than WR.
- 4th TE because Gaines will double as a TE/FB. Plus then you have Olsen as your 6th WR with 3 TEs.
- Speed doesn’t always buy you a roster spot. Knox looked great without pads but this isn’t flag football. I think his talent diminishes when he starts getting hit and is not as quick with pads on so I am predicting no on him.

It is all about maximizing talent and versatility. Guys that can play multiple positions make 53 seem more like 55-56.

by brands735 on Sep 1, 2009 8:54 AM CDT up reply actions   0 recs

Pisa is an OLB

if Urlacher is hurt, it’s be Jamar who can play all 3 LB positions, or Hunter if he’s on the roster

by wiltfongjr on Sep 1, 2009 10:50 AM CDT up reply actions   0 recs

I know he plays outside but if Urlacher went down, I personally would want to see Pisa slide over to middle. He has impressed me with his speed and strength although he is a little smaller. Overall, I think our LBs are prety versatile

by brands735 on Sep 1, 2009 11:50 AM CDT up reply actions   0 recs

Hunter is the best choice to b/u Urlacher at MLB

AP

Yeah, he’s playing against guys who will be out of a job next week for the most part, but man he runs tough. Special teams he does just fine. He’s a keeper over Wolfe.

Somebody explain to me why we SHOULD keep Iglesias

Don’t tell me what the Bears WILL do. Don’t tell me about draft position. Tell me what you’ve seen in him that shows more potential than, say, Johnny Knox?

"We can do it any way you want to. We can go right out back and get it on or you can shape your ass up."

Iglesias

should be the easier prospect to mold into an NFL receiver, he’s already technically more sound coming from the school he did, in route running.
people say he’s slow, but he runs a 4.4 40 which isn’t to bad. Knox was just really fast, which is why everyone loved him, however this hasn’t translated into wide receiver skills (see Devin Hester).
Iglesias will be a good solid receiver in a few years, maybe think along the lines of a T.J./Moose.
probably won’t be a number 1, but a solid number 2 receiver over the years.

Meet Earl Bennet

Iglesias has done more in pre-season than Benett did last year. He has speed, size, hands and smarts enough to play the position. He just needs time to adjust to the NFL and I believe he will. Knox has looked great but he’ll make the squad too.

by The Kaiser on Sep 2, 2009 5:51 AM CDT up reply actions   0 recs

I don't think he has shown more potential then Knox

but I do think that if you look at potential upside in comparison with what they are capable of doing now I think he is better then Davis.
