I was reading through a few emails this afternoon, and reading through a few threads from the past few weeks that prompted me to write this FanPost.
Here at WCG, we are constantly considered one of the more "civil" SBN blogs when it comes to holding intelligent football conversations, and we should all be proud of that. We all know that showing up in another team's site can bring down all sorts of thunder onto our heads, even if we are simply trying to have a football conversation.
There are plenty of trolls out there, and when trolls stop in, they are subject to a WCG internet beatdown. But, let's keep in mind that not everyone who is not a fan of the Bears is a troll. There are plenty of folks who just want to talk football, and we have to be careful that we are not condemning them just because they are fans of another team.
Sure, this is first and foremost a Bears blog, and we will always defend our position of that. But let's also stay objective, and continue being the welcoming blog that we are known to be. We would never want this to become a knitting circle, but we also don't like seeing another member jumped on just because they are not a fan of the Bears. We are better than that.
This has been one hell of an offseason, and many of us are getting restless for some real football. Until we get there though, we have to keep our heads on straight. Keep an eye out for the trolls, but also keep an eye out for those who just want to talk football.
