I just watched the Steelers.. and.. oh boy..!

Thats a Defense. I kinda got scared to watch the TV because I know the home opener is against the Steelers. Good luck 2u Mr. Pace!

Frankly.. and I love to say frankly.. that makes this game that much more important to win. you don’t wanna go 0-2 to start the Cutler era. He gets crabby. Not that it’s the end of the world but that just one physical football team. If you make it with no injuries thats a win in itself.

At least Troy won’t play. If there is one bright spot I would have to say maybe the tight ends could dice that blitzing 3-4 D.

But I digress why does Sunday seem so long away?

I have seen a QB and it was good.

We're 0-0 as of right now

I’m kind of tired of assuming we’re going to lose both these games.

I didn't say they would lose.

I said it’s important they play well and win in Green Bay because they have the Steelers the next week.

I have seen a QB and it was good.

Steelers are a physical team, no doubt but the loss of Polamalu will cost them a game or two unless he bounces back fast.

Guaranteed...

He’ll be out at least against us no matter what..they’ll want to preserve their star D player early

Its funny souleater7

Its really funny that I thought the exact thing you thought about the Steelers game. Their such a physical team. Not that it’s the end of the world but thats just one physical football team. If you make it with no injuries thats a win in itself. I hade to reply because I thought the exact thing you quoted. Thanks for the LOl.

oh and about Collinsworth...

I don’t understand the love for this guy. I think Bernstein said he was a big fan of his once. Personally I think the guy is a snobbish D-bag like most of those other NBC clowns.

I have seen a QB and it was good.

by SoulEater7 on Sep 11, 2009 12:34 AM CDT reply actions

Well...

I watched the same game and saw tons of gaps where Olsen, Clark, and Forte could do incredible damage! I believe we will see the same thing against the Cheese Factory, because their two converted DE’s struggle to drop into coverage. And the Steelers’ pass rush? “Child, please!” (Just wanted to say that) Remember, Collins is anything but mobile at 87 years old. Cutler’s mobility should help there. What struck me with this game, as is the case with any game, is TURNOVERS KILL! We must get ’em, but not give ’em! But first…. GREEN BAY!!!!

+1

I watched the Steelers game last night as well and while they have good Defense the Titans were able to move the ball. Even the receivers had some sucess. I think Cutler will have more sucess against then than Collins. Just have to get the running game going. I agree that Cutlers mobility will help extend the play and I think with Troy being out it’s going to hurt their run D.

I cut the sleeves off because it looks awesome. NOW GET YOUR HEAD IN THE GAME!

by Ditkavsworld on Sep 11, 2009 10:10 AM CDT up reply actions

Agreed

I was thinking that the whole night. Even though they were held out of the end zone most of the game, Collins wasn’t struggling too badly most of the time. Cutler is far better than Collins.

Also, no way Robbie would have missed that first field goal. I think the Bears have a damn good chance of beating the Steelers at home.

Let’s rock Green Bay Sunday and then get ready to be 2-0!

by Virto on Sep 11, 2009 10:48 AM CDT up reply actions

One thing I noticed was that...

Chris Johnson seemed to have longer runs when he was running outside of the tackles, but the Titans didn’t seem to do it that often. He is on my FF team, so I was waiting for him to break a long one.

I think if we can get Forte, or even Wolfe around the corner we should be able to get 5-7 yard chunks pretty frequently, and hopefully bust a long one for six.

Random, but

Anybody know of any Chicago Bears bars in Austin, TX. I just moved here because of work.

There's a place called

Clicks Billiards @ 10205 North Lamar in Austin. If memory serves, it turns into a Bears bar during the games. They host a Bears fan club (last I knew), so that’s probably a good bet.

You might want to hit this site up too: http://bears.meetup.com/cities/us/tx/austin/

They might have some other places to go.

Dallas

And if you ever find yourself up the road in Dallas, there’s a good group that gets together. Between 25-200 depending on the game. They meet at the TnT Sports Grill in Addison, I believe.

the last time I used bodog I got screwed on a parlay bet

Back in 06 I had 3 of the the 4 teams right but then, I picked the falcons over the saints, this was back when vick and dunn were each rushing for a 100 yards a game for like the first six weeks, then they played the saints and lost, I was done after that

"snuffalufagus fucks my shit up"

by leopoldjones on Sep 11, 2009 4:56 PM CDT up reply actions

therein lies the beauty and pain of the parlay

only takes one 10 dollar 7 teamer to make a bettor a happy man. i usually wait until october before i try to go past 3 or 4 team parlays though because i like to pretend i learn more about what i’m betting on as the weeks pass by. for some reason i can’t seem to make enough money on the nfl to quit my crappy day job. go figure.

last time i did consistently well was in 06, betting moneyline bears along with picking over won like 75 percent plus.

by reefermadness3 on Sep 11, 2009 5:29 PM CDT up reply actions

thanks

i’ve heard of those and i guess they wouldn’t be popular if they screwed people. one more thing….i’m looking at both of those sites and don’t see anywhere to bet on the over/under for wins. you’d have to be crazy not to believe the bears can’t get 9. that probably wouldn’t pay much but it doesn’t seem like very much risk.

by genetic on Sep 11, 2009 6:24 PM CDT up reply actions

nevermind

apparently i’m not as smart as i thought. it wasn’t very hard to find.

by genetic on Sep 11, 2009 6:25 PM CDT up reply actions

good luck

only easy pick i see is (sadly) the vikes against cleveland. seems iike a sucker bet, 4.5 pt favorites?

hope some futures bets come up soon.

by reefermadness3 on Sep 11, 2009 9:25 PM CDT up reply actions

i should have given you my email

i already signed up, but i read you get a bonus for referring on bodog. i like some of the points over/unders this week, not so much picking the games.

The defense

Interesting perspective courtesy of Troy Aikman that I heard today. In his view the Bears will have one of the poorest defenses in the entire NFC, and therefore he can’t see the Bears getting past 6 or 7 wins.

I share the disdain for the Bear defense. But man, that is a HARSH critique.

by BLou on Sep 11, 2009 7:15 PM CDT reply actions

I’d like to to remind everyone, including Aikman, that we were 9-7 last year. With Orton and Rex and we blew 2 games. Think about that. We won 9 games. Add Cutler and extra seasoning for Hester, Olsen, and Forte. And then, here’s the key: Hester will bounce back in the return game. We have a top 5 special teams unit in the league

Green Bay was 6-10 and they did not add anything significant, other than changing defensive schemes. We’re gonna roll them. They will not run it on us. And we will force Rodgers into throwing into coverage. 31-20 Bears. Bring on the Steelers.

by Trey23 on Sep 11, 2009 8:05 PM CDT reply actions

Wish I shared the optimism

Unfortunately, I have little faith in the Bear defense. The line and secondary suck. All the Jay Cutler in the world can’t overcome a bad defense. Might be like Drew Brees in New Orleans in this regard.
