Polamalu injured; out 3-6 weeks
Steelers safety Troy Polamula suffered a MCL sprain in his left knee tonight versus the Titans tonight and as a result will miss the Week 2 game against the Bears. This is a HUGE blow for the Steelers as they looked like a different defense without Polamalu in the 2nd half tonight. I'm still worried about that game (as well as the upcoming GB game) but this injury changes the complexion of the game a bit. What do you guys think?

Agree Completely
Talk about striking GOLD after ONE game. Makes you feel bad for him though, kinda reminded me of the Mike Brown injury starting off ‘07 in San Diego after he had an INT and then BOOM, your season’s over. Never wish that upon anybody, but definitely a good thing for Cutler & company in Week 2.
Thats good but that Defense is still the best in the league.
I don’t care if he’s playing or not. It’s going to be a big battle for the Bears.
Oh and thats why you fall on the ball. He tried to get cute.
I have seen a QB and it was good.

Polamalu was Angelo's biggest whiff
In the 2003 draft, Jerry Angelo traded from the #4 spot to the #14 and #22. Taking Rex Grossman at #22 wasn’t that bad a pick, even though Willis McGahee, Dallas Clark, and Larry Johnson soon followed. Taking Michael Haynes at #14, however, two spots ahead of Troy Polamolu at #16 was a horrible pick. At least Grossman is still playing in the NFL.
I can’t help but think that if JA had drafted Polamalu – the Bears and Seahawks would both have Super Bowl wins this decade. But that’s just a dream. JA didn’t know that Mike Brown would turn into paper.

he's in it

he isn’t playing.
He's closer to playing than you think
Schaub is bound to get hurt, so it’s only a matter of time.

I try not to be too happy when players get hurt
but this is definitely a bonus for the Bears.

He'll be fine
It could’ve been worse from the looks of the replay. Glad he won’t be disrupting the Bears offense next week, but I may have to look for a replacement if Cutler and company put up some points against the Pack.

That sucks... the guy is friggin awesome.
At least he’ll miss the bears game!

Jerry Angelo trades for Jay Cutler! (4.2.2009)
.
One of my favorite players in the league.
Their defense will miss him, but they’ll still be extremely good.

Totally agree
Troy is the man…
But their D still looked all kinds of good last night. Ward’s fumble made that game go to OT.

Yea I know they gave up that TD to Gage right after he went out...........
But they seemed OK without him in the 2nd half, I mean they still won without him. Granted Collins isnt really a deep ball threat.

i am just glad that
he is seemingly a very flexible man. the first time i saw it it looked like goodbye season for troy. glad they say he will be able to play in a month or two.
also don’t mind him missing our home opener. usually i want the bears to play teams at full strength but that guy is a beast especially on run d
bears have the advantage now
polamalu is great against the run n with him being out expect forte to have a huge running game which may open the passing game
if the bears d-line creates pressure against the steelers mediocre o-line n pressure n hurry big ben into mistakes we may win it
Not to take away from your point...
But the reason Big Ben is sacked so much is because he holds onto the ball so long. He is one of the best QB’s in the league at pump faking and moving around in the pocket. This is a give and take, it buys additional time and catches DB’s over-reacting, but also causes him to spend more time in the backfield. Thus creating more sacks. Ben is an incredible and highly under-rated QB, but he will get sacked and it doesn’t matter how great the line is.

Yep.
He holds the ball FOREVER on every play. He’s not exactly mobile, so once people break through, he’s usually done for.
He is GREAT at pump-fakes though. How bad will our secondary fall for those?
I dunno.
But that does concern me. Hopefully our line can get in the backfield, cause disruption and create some turnovers. Then again, maybe our secondary will actually watch the film from the Tennessee game and learn from the mistakes the Titans defenders made.
I’m sure we’ll discuss this in depth next week. For now, let’s destroy us some cheese heads.

“He’s not exactly mobile, so once people break through, he’s usually done for.”
I’m gonna have to go ahead and ….. kinda disagree with you there… yeah.
Sorry, not wanting to sound like an ass. I just wanted a little Bill Lumbergh flavor in there.
Seriously, Big Ben is mobile. He creates within the pocket using his legs as good as anyone in the league. And when defensive players do get their hands on him, Big Ben often fends them off with his strength.
Big Ben may not be a top 5 fantasy QB, but he is a top 5 NFL QB…
Polamalu is out but so is Urlacher
advantage … neither side
