Pisa Tinoisamoa May Be Out For a Month; Sign LB Tim Shaw
Brad Biggs has tweeted:
Bears expected to sign LB Tim Shaw:
Strong-side linebacker Pisa Tinoisamoa is also out about a month, maybe a little more, with a right knee sprain. The Bears could need special teams help as well with Trumaine McBride signed. Shaw, who was released by Jacksonville at the end of the summer, is flying in tonight. He will likely sign the contract on Tuesday.
Also, Vaughn McClure is reporting that Pisa could play Sunday:
pisa is day to day with a knee sprain. could play sunday
He adds an explanation as to why Urlacher is done:
12 weeks in a cast followed by 4 weeks of recovery.

I think ST is the main reason for this signing.
They are still looking at a vet like Brooks. Lets keep our fingers crossed.

Ok well at least they did something
I was afraid the Bears wouldn’t be quick to react to fill that LB spot. And at least Pisa isn’t out for the year to. The only positive irony of last night well… maybe a few. First all I heard was we have no WRs. Fine Bennett was hardly impressive to be kind. But Hester did fine as a #1. He had the only TD & got 90 yds & its basically on the average him being open a number of times as a valued WR. It doesn’t sound like much in some ways compared to a few flukes this week but Roddy White & Larry Fitzgerald had less.
Also is Aaron Rodgers is so great why didn’t they blow the Bears out. In Carolina, it was a blowout with 4 INTs even without the other turnovers. Hes supposed to be so all mighty & should be better than Dan Marino from everything I read so they might as well scored 50 points. Didn’t happen; not even close. They may win the division & then again maybe not. It shows a lot of weakness on their offense to not be able to offensively take advantage of so many opportunities. I think they only got the one TD off an INT in the first half. I was shocked the Bears took the lead twice after all the horrible INTs from Cutler.
However, obviously no excuses should be made & you can’t sugar coat it, Cutler played like crap & the secondary as always sucked. Its ironic even with the two blown ref calls they would have won but Cutler got chance after chance & was like channeling Rex Grossman, so the blame was consistently on him. If this is how the season is going to go for every game it will be a long year & better be Lovie’s final season if does turn out awful. He just doesn’t pull the trigger on anyone & doesn’t have the disciplinary fire of someone like Rod or particularly Singletary who would work there better than the 49ers for so many reasons.

Don't take this wrong. It is just a question out of curiosity.
Are/were you a carnival worker or maybe a roadie? Just wondering about your user name. To the best of my knowledge thats almost a gypsy thing. Also, nice post, but I think Bennett didn’t do too badly and I think Cutler will calm down. He seemed to be pressing. Not making excuses for a horrible performance, but I think he’ll improve. Hell, he couldn’t do much worse.
If you can't laugh at yourself you must not be very funny.
Bennett hardly impressive?
He had 7 receptions for 66 yards. That’s on pace for more than a 1,000 yard season… that’s nothing to sneeze at for a possession receiver.
For what it's worth,
They’ve got to start somewhere. Obviously they’re not going to get an Urlacher caliber player out of the blue. But, whether it’s Shaw, Brooks or someone else we need somebody to come in and step up and make some plays at middle linebacker. However you look at it, this is one of the Bears worst case scenerios.
Surprised
No McClover, Malast, or Freeman….
Dickerson did not think that the Bears would bring in Brooks due to the fact that he would have to start, to old and the Bears need help at Special Teams and Brooks does not play ST I guess….Looks like Briggs, Hillenmeyer, Pisa are the starters now….

shaw is for special teams guys
i think if we get brooks is a one year thing of course id like to see freeman back
but what do you guys think about this linebacking core?
olb pisa mlb briggs olb brooks?
hey its something
McClure:
lance briggs says he’s not going to play middle linebacke®
kevin payne has brace left hand
Biggs: Olin Kreutz: Every great team has a guy that no one else has, and Urlacher is kind of our guy. We’ve got to find a way to recover from it.
Lovie Smith press conference begins in about 15 minutes. I’ll Tweet some hightlights as it’s in process. (thats from biggs… i’ll forward some of the best)

Notes from ESPN 1000 Lovies PC
- Jay did not play well but did not play well in the 1st pre season game. Hope he can continue to improve
- Can not give up the big play to lose the game
- Looking at all options @ LB
- Feels comfortable with the LBs they have now
- Did contact Brooks
- Still going to run the same type of D “scheme”. Stating how the D still played well when Urlacher was out. Everyone needs to step up
- Lance will stay at WLB. WILL NOT MOVE him
- All LBs they have now can play MLB but feel more comfortable with Double H (Hunter Hillenmayer) at MLB
- Afalava played well. He was doing what he was suppose to do on that bomb to jennings at the end.
- Thought they played better in the second half
- Will continue to rotate Vasher, Tillman, and Bowman at CB. Vasher was not the only one that gave up big plays.
- Its only one game 15 more to go.
"You're running the wrong way!"
-Dave Toub yelling at Hester during a punt return
Hopefully
more Bowman and less Vasher. I’m still perplexed that he didn’t see the field more often. That, and the fact Forte wasn’t targeted in the passing game.

Not just a target in the passing game
I wish we’d come out and gone more power O and committed to the run.
It was like Turner got all excited by the new toy and forget he had another option in the backfield. Especially as rattled as Cutler looked. They could’ve protected him better with play calling.
Jerry’s been so distant lately and Lovie barely calls.- Just Dave
Cutler
could’ve protected himself better by dumping it off to Forte. He’s a mismatch for any of their LBs, well maybe not Chillar after the game he had.

I agree with that too
All the forcing to Bennent when Olsen/Forte were on the field was pretty silly.
But… you live and learn, I guess. Hope this week is better.

I think it's a case
of Jay trying way too hard to make a good impression.

That was the trend
in the preseason against the Bills. Then Cutler played better and didn’t force things against the Giants.

Power O worked in the 3rd on best drive.
why they didn’t THROW to the end zone after that is beyond me. Play action to Clark in the corner should’ve landed 6. Instead we had to settle for the FG. (IIRC… its been a long couple of days)

I am glad defense is getting weak
Because that way cutler will be asked to win the games and not manage it, and that is what cutler excels in and that is WINNING THE GAME
Cutler has lost more than he's won
I loved the trade, but the guy has never even played in a playoff game much less won one. He was flat out awful in the first half last night. Some of the INTs might have been caused by the receivers, but that just shows you how bad the chemistry is at his point.
Olsen and Forte had 1 catch between them? I don’t see them becoming an offensive juggernaut in 1 week after that performance. And certainly not against the Steelers. I was way wrong about the over/under in last night’s game so who knows. Maybe they light up the scoreboard against the Champs.

Maybe some of those picks were one the receivers...
But, Cutler still made quite a few throws that he shouldn’t have. You got to give the Packers credit for one of those ints. Dude just made a good play on the earlier throw in the red-zone. As for the others, Jay seemed to hit ’em (Packers defenders) right in the numbers.
yes, but some of the receivers also didn't even bother finishing routes
Although I dislike Collinsworth, he did pick up numerous instances of Bears receivers basically giving up on plays that would’ve made big gains, if not TD’s. I remember Clark specifically ignoring the end zone corner on one critical Cutler throw that glanced off his hands. I understand the situation with rookies but WTF are some of those veterans doing out there? The tape review on Tuesday should be absolutely brutal for those guys.
On Derrick Brooks
RT: @Adam_Schefter: Bears informed free-agent linebacker Derrick Brooks tonight that, for now, they intend to go with their younger players.

New to the site, im usually over on SCH, but I like SBN a lot, so I decided to come over here as well.
Thought Cutler looked ok, not great, not terrible, its the recievers im really worried about. The INT in the first half in the red zone was not his fault, i thought it was a very athletic play from GB’s lineman. Even bigger concern was the ineptitude of Desmond Clark. He couldnt finish running a route, and had a touchdown the play before the INT if he would have just continued running to the corner of the endzone. Overall, I thought the Bears looked decent last night, especially for our first game, at Lambeau Field. As for the receivers, how about bringing in Marvin Harrison? Sure the dudes old, but he’s got experience and can really help mentor some of the new guys at the receiver position. I’m just rambling, but I really think everyones making this loss way bigger of an issue then it needs to be.
He's not known
to be a “mentor” or establish a leadership role with the Colts while he was there. I’d much rather have Jones than him.
"A fanatic is one who can't change his mind and won't change the subject." -Sir Winston Churchill
Got veteran WRs?
We do not, and it showed against the Packers tough secondary. With that said, I don’t remember discussing the Bears’ WR problem. ;)
"A fanatic is one who can't change his mind and won't change the subject." -Sir Winston Churchill
Harrison???
Alot of people keep asking for Harrison so he can teach the younger players. Listen up about Harrison, he has never been a mentor or a teacher, he barely even talked to his own teamates. I repeat, he is not a teacher or a mentor. Only thing they are going to learn from him is what they can see on tape!
Puts Urlacher On Pace As A Possibility For The Divisional Round
http://www.nfl.com/schedules?seasonType=POST#Week
More likely NFC Championship Game, barring any setbacks. Think he’ll try to come back like Quentin was going to for the Sox had they advanced past Tampa Bay in ’08? Very interesting scenario.
He's on IR
his season is over. its not like baseball where you have a DL, once your on Injured Reserve you’re ineligable for the year including the playoffs.

Jerry’s been so distant lately and Lovie barely calls.- Just Dave
12 weeks in cast + 4 weeks recovery= 16 weeks= 4 months= January
Could Brian comeback in the playoffs? If we continue to play like we did against GB then there probabaly won’t even be any playoffs, but I think if the Bears do get there, it would be tremendous should he return to the field at that time.
Nope
IR means out for the year, no playoffs. He’s done.
Does anyone know...
The status of the rest of the players?
Urlacher – IR
Pisa – Day-to-day (Give or take a month)
McBride?
Clark?
Omeyale?
Seems like a bunch of dudes were writhing on the ground last night. Its’ heartbreaking to hear Urlacher’s out for the season, but, truthfully, LB is one of our only areas of strength! The Team just needs to Bear Down!
Getcha Beernuts Ready!
ole-he-yell
was back in by the end of the game. whether or not he deserves a job is a different story.
Biggs has a post
for all of you asking “Why can’t he play with a cast?”:
The reason Urlacher was placed on IR is because of the bone he injured. He dislocated the lunate bone, according to the Bears, and that is the bone that is at the center of the wrist, at the middle of the eight bones. It holds the wrist together, and the risk in not treating the injury immediately, or coming back before the injury is completely healed is significant. It could lead to permanent nerve damage and that could affect Urlacher’s hand long term.
http://blogs.suntimes.com/bears/2009/09/why_cant_urlacher_return_with.html
Jerry’s been so distant lately and Lovie barely calls.- Just Dave
That's a pretty good reason not to play
It’s just not worth risking it.

2011 or bust!
I didn’t wanna go back to Miami anyways. Next Season Bears in the New Cowboys stadium.
I have seen a QB and it was good.
hopefully
urlachers body will be fully rested having this entire season off if he can make a good recovery from the wrist and we try to keep our d-line how it is or upgrade in the draft or by free agncy we should b good
plus a lot of the offense will have played an entire season together n built up chemistry
i heard from the suntimes
that the bears are looking to sign either derrick brooks or zach thomas
even though they’re old, i would rather have them playing instead of putting one of our back ups
After being severly let down
I am thankful for WCG for the ability to be around fellow diehard Bear fans.I have had tons of extra time this past year to watch the Bears every move , do to recovering from hospital stay. So I had so much built up in anticipation of this game, only to be bodyslammed.Im sure the Bears will rise, that’s why their is film , this team has so much pressure on it to succeed I’m super sure we will be ok.Im sure most staff see this as potentially their last chance. Turner is the one I’m tired of I think it’s time for a change in his department the offense has sufferd since after 05-06 season due to plan out dumb play calls that I know he’s responsible for. Go Bears Bear down!!
Marcus Freeman was cut for a reason. He’s crap.
Cutler is not a bad QB. Our OL was like 5 sets of revolving doors Sunday night. Welcome back last year’s line. So that’s why they cut Orlando Pace …..
Greg Olsen is a pussy. Footsteps.
Hunter Hillenmeyer weighs 238 lbs. He is 6’4 ergo he is not a middle linebacker. Let Jamar Williams in there.
