Earl Bennett absolutely blows

There.   I had to get that off my chest.   I've already seen enough of Earl Friggin Bennett to last a lifetime.   And to think some Bear fans scratched their head when Bennett couldn't beat out the useless Marty Booker and Brandon LLoyd for playing time in 2008.

It's going to be a long season.    The NFC is uniquely strong, and the Bears might be fortunate to get to 6 wins.    Cutler has awful receiver options and Urlacher is done for the season.   To go on top of a wretched defensive secondary situation.    Maybe it IS time to root for a player lockout (joking...er...maybe half joking).

what??

Earl Bennett looked solid out there. He seemed to be one of the only receivers getting separation, and he’ll only get better. He’s clearly Cutler’s #1 option. I just don’t follow your logic.

And with that,

you should leave. 6 wins? You’re an idiot.

Maybe he's drunk

I mean, he was defending Lovie in another fanpost. I’ve never noticed him being positive about anything to do with the Bears before!

First off, Recced.

Secondly, don’t forget the long TD throw to Bennett that he was behind all the Packers and one barely tipped it to keep it from going over the top. A little more on it from Cutler and his statline would have been better than the majority of the WR in the league yesterday.

Bringing Cubbie frustration over here?

He obviously had a good game, showing some quickness on those quick, short routes. Not sure what you were looking at.

Well

Earl Bennett had a BAD game folks. Blown routes, quit on routes…. You can look at those 7 receptions all you want, but his grade for the game by Dan Pompeii was a D. And you would be hard pressed to find many qualified experts who disagree with that assessment.

It is..............

your tone man!

Did Bennett have a great game? No. Did he absolutely blow? No.

All the WRs need to go back to “Route Running 101”. Someone needs to sit down with Jay and the WRs and make sure that they understand how they should break off their routes once Jay scrambles.

Calling sue369 a c*&t is out of line. You should apologize now.

Marvin Harrison anyone?

Im sure this has been talked about pleanty of times before..but not that we are actually playing for something that means something. Shouldnt we at least concider of calling him up? I know its not a big reciver..but hes a crafty vet that has alot left in his tank. At worst he could teach Knox and Hester a lot.

I thought Bennett was sweet.

He had a nice juke on his defender for a first down on a screen pass. He’s going to be a baller you’re on crack!

I have seen a QB and it was good.

heres the thing

i hate general statements if you say bennet sucks FINE please give me some VALID reasons not general crap.
in my opinion he did decent 7 catches for 66 yards he did exactly what i thought he moved the chains please remember this is basically his first game he didnt play in any last year. and johnny knox was in the lineup over juaqin? knox looks likes hes gonna be fun to watch who do you double cover? knox or hester? both? then who gets olsen i think we need to give all these new guys a little time i think the whole team rebounds and beats the steelers at home to win for the LACH!

by Bear Lovin 21 on Sep 14, 2009 10:39 PM CDT reply actions   0 recs

Huh?

I just came over here to see if there were any discussions about Bennett, and how good he looked. Him and Cutler seemed to have a good connection last night and hooked up for some huge 3rd down conversions. I think the offense proved the neysayers who felt that you guys “have no WRs” wrong.

Bennett and company

Both him and Hester, plus a little Knox dispelled the notion of the Bears not having “any WRs” argument. Hopefully everyone decides to finish their route-running this week against the Steelers.

by propheteer on Sep 15, 2009 5:30 PM CDT up reply actions   0 recs

Good wr corps

Knox has some GREAT speed. He really blew by Woodson on his one long catch. Him and Hester lined up on opposite sides of each other could really give some teams trouble, and will. Hell, they gave us trouble and I like to think we have one of the better secondaries in the league. Knox and Cutler didn’t seem to have great chemistry but as far as the chemistry between he and Bennett and he and Hester looked good.

I feel for you guys. You lost Urlacher, Pina, and Clark. It seems like how our season started out last season too. I think you’ll be able to overcome it though, as the d-line looked excellent. When Tillman and Bowman get back healthy, your d-line and secondary could be scary for opposing artists.

by packallday555 on Sep 15, 2009 11:58 PM CDT up reply actions   0 recs

D-line will be the key

As with a lot of teams, it comes down to both lines in the trenches. Ogunleye is playing for a contract, while Brown and Harrison are solid. Hillenmeyer is no slouch, and his skill set is better suited for the middle. Bowman, Tillman, and Manning are very important to help solidify the secondary. Pisa might be back as soon as week three (it was reported that there was an outside chance he would play against the Steelers).

On another note............

Im soo glad Iglesias made it over Rideau, and dont give me the hes a rookie crap, you put the best guys on the team. Its not like Rideau is old man river, he has a good grasp of the offense and Iglesias will get cut by the end of next years preseason, book it. Rideau shouldve gotten a chance.

He had a really nice tackle later in the game. That’s the one that stuck out to me. Like the two comments below point out, ST’s, in general, kind of sucked.

when he lined up offside on the 3rd catch he made that wouldve given us the first down instead we had to punt n the fake punt happened

but other than that i liked the way he played

I think Bennett played okay

and made some nice catches but he was out of position on a bunch of plays. Let’s remember it was his first game and he did okay, not great, but showed some promise.

Bennett's play

was fine for a kid making his first ever start. He made some good plays, and he made some mistakes, pretty much what you would expect of a guy who is a rookie for all practical purposes.

lined up offsides on 1 play, and he had 1 questionable route, I say questionable because we don’t know who made the wrong read, him or the QB…

Who is this guy, bennett had the most catches of the night. he could probably have a better season than any of our recievers, depending on how hester does. and knox might just have a breakout season.
