Bears utilizing Anderson's quickness inside in nickel defense
Bears DE Mark Anderson seemed very surprised when Chicago coaches told him to rush the QB for the DT spot. His opinion, “The first thing I thought was that I need to put on like 20 more pounds if I’m going to be down there with the big boys,” Anderson said with a laugh. Ogunleye and Alex Brown were both Defensive Ends in the game agianst the Pack. The Bears seemed to want lots of pash rushers on the field against Rodgers, and the bears look like they'll use Anderson inside again. Mark is a good pash rusher, and stopped the run with his quickness. I think Anderson is a great athlete, and can even be used at linebacker, now that Urlacher is gone. Anderson had four tackles in the game, and one for a loss. Last year, he was a disapointment, but I think this year will be different.

I think that'd be a good idea...
…and then move briggs to a middle linebacker type roll?

want to see that myself but...
Briggs and the coaches have intimated that neither he nor the the coaches feel comfortable with that. (No I do not have a link.) Anderson has played better and simply needs to play that fast D Line role for now. I just wish the Bears would look at playing more of a 3 man line on purpose, not because Harris is 60% of his former self.
There are no stupid questions, but there are a LOT of inquisitive idiots.

i think briggs is best left in his current spot
i liked anderson’s play overall last sunday. good to see him not edge rushing on every singly play past the qb pocket and helping clean up/pursuing/tackling from behind on some runs.
a 3 man line on some 3rd and longs could be a nice tweak, i’d like to see that happen too occasionally.

defensive tackles
I remember when defensive tackles in the NFL played at 260-275 lbs. I believe the great Bob Lily (Cowboys) played at 275. This was in the days before tackles porked out to 300+ pounds and were actually in shape.

Some of them are 350!!!
Guessing what the pitcher is going to throw is eighty percent of being a successful hitter. The other twenty percent is just execution.

hey mael remember keith traylor and ted washington from a few years back?
those were some big boys. think washington was like what, 370 or something? traylor probably wasn’t far behind at all.
haha, this is a good time to post a great 2001 bears highlight, when traylor tipped/picked off mark brunell and ran it almost all the way back for a score. the announcers crack me up too.
