In a strange way I sorta hope Cutler becomes one of those QB's

Who does a good job distributing the ball to multiple receivers. I guess I’d like a passing attack where defenders can’t key in on stopping any one receiver. I’d like Hester to become more of a factor and I’d like to see what we can get out of Bennett and Aromashodu. For that to happen, Know probably wouldn’t get rookie of the year but I want whatever will make us a better team. If he stays at this pace, he’s got as good a shot as anyone.

If you can't laugh at yourself you must not be very funny.

He's been hurt

Quad I believe. Those take a couple weeks most of the time so maybe finally this week.

If the first two games are an indication

Jay is going to spread the ball around (7 different receivers each game) with one or two guys getting the bulk of the targets – but which two will vary week to week.

ROY is Sanchez's to lose

Because stafford is on the lions. and he is at qb. if knox has a eddie royal like season from last year and the other 1st round wr’s, like harvin, are not big factors then he may have a chance. Being such a low round pick he isnt going to get the name recognition that some of the others can get.

The Jets are going 6 - 10

That defense looks awful tough broski.

Figuring they’ll split with the Dolphins and Pats, they’re likely to beat Buffalo twice, then they have Oakland, Carolina, Cincy… I don’t know. They would really have to fall off to only win 6.

Seems

hard to believe that they will only go 6-10. I think they will get to .500 minimum.

by Fridge72 on Sep 23, 2009 5:42 PM CDT up reply actions

Considering they went 9-7

last year, with 8-3, and late meltdown due largely to favre. they have really only gotten stronger this offseason. i’m sayin they run away with that Division, especially with the hurtin ATL is gonna put on the Pats… i’m saying closer to 12-4 for NYJ

are there two ROY's

AFC and NFC? Then do they break them out offensive and defensive?

by Lester A. Wiltfong Jr. on Sep 23, 2009 3:36 PM CDT up reply actions

Yep.

Just offense and defense (given by AP). Used to have a NFC and AFC (given by UPI), until sometime in the mid ’90s when they stopped.

Will he have a shot? Sure.

Hester is usually going to draw double teams, so Knox will see plenty of single coverage. And Knox has proven he will win the 1-on-1 battles the majority of the time.

The only thing that might hold him up are TDs. Knox might end up with 800+ yards, but I’m not sure how much he’ll see the end zone. Forte and Olsen are likely to get most of the receiving TDs in the red zone, so that may keep Knox from getting the votes.

True, Olsen and Forte are probably better red zone targets for Cutler

But he’s going to get some break-away TD’s, too because of his speed

And eventually, they may have to start to double team Knox, and leave Hester 1-on-1. Sort of a pick your poison – Knox or Hester… lol

May we

please see some more football from this team before we think about awards. No I don’t think he will even be a thought by week 8, Bear down.

He'll have the stats

for it, I believe. But if the Jets get into the play-offs or even break .500, then I think Sanchez will get it.

It will always go to the QB if there is one. Not fair, but it almost always works that way.

Here’s to hoping that Knox puts up the #’s to get into the discussion.

by Fridge72 on Sep 23, 2009 5:39 PM CDT reply actions

I think Sanchez will get RotY

But it would be nice to see Knox get it, or Beanie Wells since I have been watching him since the Cards drafted him.

by JoeCB1991 on Sep 23, 2009 10:43 PM CDT reply actions

Although, quite fittingly enough...

…Knox was drafted with the fifth-rounder the Broncos sent to the Bears in the Cutler trade.

If this guy is for real, it’s salt on the wound. Trading away a franchise quarterback is one thing, but trading a franchise quarterback and a stud receiver is entirely another.

by V. Money on Sep 24, 2009 7:56 AM CDT reply actions

That being said...

…even if he has a great season, the odds are against Knox winning ROY, not because he isn’t talented, but because of his draft position.

Take the AP Offensive Rookie of the Year award. From 1999-2008, only one second-day pick won, Denver’s No. 6, Mike Anderson. Going further, the fifth, sixth, and seventh round winners include Mike Thomas, Don Woods, and, actually, that’s the rest of the list. although No. 4 Troy Stradford won in 1987.

by V. Money on Sep 24, 2009 9:47 AM CDT reply actions

Legitimate, Hell Yeah!

Unless Sanchez throw for 2400 yards or better with about 24 TDs. But the question is Does Knox have a legitimate shot? If he continue to improve, Absolutely.

by Big Ike on Sep 24, 2009 10:56 AM CDT reply actions

Of course he has a shot!

Everyone has a shot. The big reason for the coincidence, though, is that first-rounders have “name brand” value. You see the same thing in the Rookie-Sophomore game in the NBA; lottery picks are a near-lock, but sophs who were drafted later often get a crack at the roster after a year of impressive play in the league.

It’s a great sign that Knox showed flashes of brilliance against two stingy defenses, even if one of then lacked Troy Polamalu.

Just because it can be done on Madden NFL does not automatically make it a viable option in real life.
