Around SBN: Miikka Kiprusoff Wins 300th Game, Buffalo Crushes Boston

We have failed as Bears fans

The Rookie of the Week was announced yesterday, but our boy Johnny Knox did not win.  Instead, Jets QB Mark Sanchez won for the second straight week, despite posting paltry numbers (Sanchez completed 14 of 22 passes for 163 yards and one touchdown). Since no rookie last week obviously stood out from the rest, I I think it was a great chance for Knox to earn some recognition that would put him in legitimate contention for the Rookie of the Year award.

Worse yet, the website doesn't mention what percentage of the vote each candidate received, so we have no idea if Knox made it a battle. Here's to hoping he has a monster week against the Seahawks, and can make the list again. Then maybe we can vote him in next time.

Oh, and I hope Sanchez throws 4 picks.

the whole rookie of the week thing is fixed

besides, I don’t think I could honestly have chose knox over Sanchez in the first place. he handed Brady his first regular season loss in nearly three years.

how coud you not...

vote for Sanchez. the man beat the Patriots.

he didn't beat the pats

the defense beat the patriots. sanchez has been a game manager so far this season. unfortunately because of the media and the fact he’s in NY, he’ll probably get ROY.

Agreed 100%

The Jet’s defense will carry Sanchez this year. It’s really a perfect situation for a rookie to step into, and gradually get up to speed – with a solid supporting cast around him.

I think the title is the definition of hyperbole:

“An intentional exaggeration for emphasis or comic effect.” haha sounds about right!

I hear ya...

I seen this coming too . The overating of Mark Sanchez is already in full swing. The kid is a QB, good looking, and plays in NY. Go figue. He’s quickly becoming the Derek Jeter of the NFL. I didn’t think there was a possibility of a QB being more overhyped the Eli Manning but I guess it’s happened.

The real story is how a 5th round pick from Denver currently has better numbers than both their probowl caliber WRs and how right now it looks like the Bears got the QB and WR they’ve been looking for for years in one offseason. The kid has a chance to be a better pro than Harvin or Maclin, two players the Bears may have drafted if they kept their picks.

Not to be a hater

but you can’t say Sanchez is overrated and then act like Knox is going to be the second coming of Rice or something. I like the kid, and I really think that he could become our no. 1, but it’s been two games and theres no denying Sanchez is displaying traits we saw from Ryan and Flacco last year. I’m a fan of both players, plus I don’t really care about the NFL rookie of the week. Knox had a nice game, but he didn’t go for 120 yards and 10 receptions, he had 70 yards, Hester had more than him again GB. But, in all honesty, I hope Knox does get some recognition as the year goes on but I’m not ready to call him a contender for ROY until at least halfway through the season.

Sanchez deserved it ...

This guy Sanchez is now a semi legend. And after Sunday, is the only rookie QB in NFL history to go 3-0 as a starter. Knox had one catch yesterday, albeit a TD. He has yet to prove he has toughness and has a lot of work to do on route running. Knox was hardly legendary last week, but if he picks up another TD against the Lions …

It’s the “Rookie of the WEEK” award, not the “Media-Favorite Rookie of the First Three Games of the Season” award.

I’m not too big on these trivial accolades, but his numbers were pedestrian. They were merely alright, not great or “deserved.” Knox’s numbers weren’t mind-blowing, but Sanchez is supposed to be good – fifth overall pick vs. fifth round pick. It’s a popularity contest and Mark Sanchez is the Zack Morris of the NFL.
