Hmm I kinda wanna see
a Pino, Roach, Briggs lineup. Or until Pino gets back a Williams, Roach, Briggs.

They're having trouble
keeping him out of the lineup. His stat line is impressive considering he had to switch positions halfway through the game. The guy can flat out fly, and is showing his playmaking ability all over the field.

Yeah
it might be a good idea to sit HH for the Lions, even if they think he can go. Let HH and Pisa rest, then they have the bye and both should be gtg Atlanta. Let’s see how Roach does with a full week of game planning.

mora jr must have read our comments
wondering if daddy was going to criticize him for those post-game comments.
and that picture was obviously not lovie- there’s some hint of an expression on that face, that’s a dead giveaway. i did read that lovie had a smile on his face as we won sunday but i didn’t see it so i don’t believe it.
by genetic on Sep 29, 2009 8:18 AM CDT reply actions 0 recs
Believe it
I couldn’t either but I watched it. Lovie was pretty happy about that win. He was hugging players coming off the field and had a huge smile on his face. He just never shows his ugly side. Which I guess can be a good thing, but I’d like to see him get fired up and yell at least once. Not a Ditka in Harbaugh’s face yell, but a nice You screwed up, don’t let it happen again yell.

really? why?
They’re grown men they know how to do their jobs. It’s not like their in high school. They don’t need some dude rubbing it into their faces when they screw up.

I think the Bears need Singletary!
He should yell at his Niner defenders cause they didn’t stop Favre’s laser-guided missle of a pass.

sometimes you just have to accept that the other team made
a damn good play. Now if it’s a player who just doesn’t care or is breaking team rules then yell at him. Like RW McQuarters not wearing his shoulder pads then yes. Thats what I do like about Lovie. He never gets too meat head.

Middle of the road
I’m in favor of an even-keel type of coach, and I think Singletary is more like that then people realize.

There's a lot of stories going around about Singletary
And how he is in practices and in the locker room. Stuff about him dropping his pants in front of the team among other things. I don’t think he’s as even keel as we all think.
Plus, you don’t need to be a fiery person to win. Ditka’s temper wasn’t the reason the defense was otherworldly good. They were just good.

i can’t believe you’re denigrating the man. even walter thinks you’re a biatch. anyone notice the turn around in vernon davis’ career?
by genetic on Sep 29, 2009 3:58 PM CDT up reply actions 0 recs
Davis will benefit
from not being in Mike Martz’s offense. Martz doesn’t use the TE in his passing game.

Not denigrating him at all
Just kinda perplexed at the hate tossed at Lovie for reasons such as him not being fiery enough. I’m pointing out that there are a lot of clowns who are fiery. And then there are winners out there that haven’t had da fire and da passion.

That was last year
and I read in an article that was an aberration, not his normal behavior. Generally, all Mike has to do is use those eyes as a motivator rather than yell at the top of his lungs. He set the tone his first week as coach; that was all that was needed to light a proverbial fire.

I'm with you on Singletary.
Sure he’s intense, but also intelligent. The stuff about him dropping trout I found more funny, than disturbing.
He was pissed and reacted unconventionally… Not harmfully.

I definitely agree here.
I like knowing that my coach won’t lose his top. Stay calm under pressure…etc. etc.

I always find it interesting that some people can't seperate intensity from screaming and yelling.
We’ve discussed this ad nauseum before with the examples of Landry, Walsh, Bellichik, etc. being just as intense as Ditka, Lombardi, Halas, etc. without the histrionics. Lovie, in my opinion, doesn’t show the intensity in any way.

What does Briggs see that most of us don't?
I didn’t understand that article on Harris, either. “Disruptive?” Eh, how about actually making a play, rather than just “disrupting” it? I’ll just have to hope that he’s right and I’m way off about this one.
by Waylon on Sep 29, 2009 10:16 AM CDT reply actions 0 recs
I believe
the Bears actually grade defensive players not just on tackles & sacks, but how they affect the flow of a given play. If a linemen flushes a QB from the pocket into the waiting arms of a LB, or even just throwing the ball away, then he “disrupted” even if he didn’t make an actual tackle.
I mean if a linemen was being double teamed and still makes the QB do something he didn’t want to do, like Tommie did regularly in ‘05-06, it’s a big play that needs to be acknowledged even if it doesn’t show up on a stat sheet.

Disruptive is fine
As long as he forces the ballcarrier to an open teammate. I don’t really care if Tommie’s stat line reflects his play; I’d rather see him consistently beat his man off the LOS. That’s what Lovie’s defense is predicated on- quick pressure, and their ability to “blow-up” the play in the backfield. He definitely played better this week, and only should get better cause he didn’t seem to be in great shape when the season started.

They call them assists in Basketball.
That’s why it’s a team sport. It’s just like when a receiver or tight end throw a block on offense. Yeah, the running back runs for the score. But, it’s all thanks to the block. One hand washes the other on both sides of the ball.

They aren't saying much...
My figuring is that he’ll rest the next 2 weeks (Lions, Bye) and be back for the Atlanta game.

So, with the
MNF football clash of the NFC north this upcoming Monday… who benefits us the most to win? do we want the
Putrid Packers to vanquish these venal and virulent vermin van-guarding vice and vouchsafing the violently vicious and voracious violation of volition Vikings?
or the other way around?
(barring unforseen premeditated events by God, preventing these two teams from competing)

who tanks this year… we play Min LATE in the season, so do we want Packers to beat them?

Minnesota
If the Vikes win that we will be ahead of the Packers when we win at Detroit, and only a game behind the Vikes.
If GB wins, it will be a three-tie at the top of the NFC North. I believe we would be third fiddle with the head to head and divisional tie-breakers.
So with a Minnesota win we only have to worry about one team ahead of us.
Plus a as any true Bears fan would have to agree anything that hurts the Packers helps us :-)

and end each others’ respective seasons. If it’s at Lambeau, they should fight in a massive vat of cheese.
