Last Chance: Players on the Bubble

Gvws_bearscraigsteltzint2008_medium_medium

Tonight's game versus the Cleveland Browns will provide one last chance for a lot of players to make their case for a spot on the final 53 man roster.  Some positions are pretty clear, while others have yet to be figured out.  Here's an article from the Tribune that identifies certain players that may be on the outside looking in.

Excerpt:

Star-divide

Linebacker

How many: 7.

Projected odd men out: Marcus Freeman, Kevin Malast.

Prognosis: At the team's deepest position, veterans with starting experience such as Nick RoachJamar Williams and Hunter Hillenmeyer figure to stay. That's a good second team. Newly signed Darrell McClover is a commodity on special teams, and that gives him an edge over the rookie Freeman. Freeman could land on the practice squad despite a preseason that fell short of expectations.

Also mentioned in the article are Brandon Rideau, Trumaine McBride, Craig Steltz, and others.  Make sure you check out the rest...

I am kind of surprised

Steltz is on the bubble. I thought he has done well enough to keep a spot. I’d rather keep him than Bullocks.

still dont see steltz or freeman getting cut

I would mind...

Well, I mind! I mind big-time! And you know what the worst part is? I NEVER LEARNED TO READ!!!

no, in all seriousness, I would like to keep Wolfe, but I could understand cutting him to keep Freeman or Steltz. I just think he could be a Sproles-type. He runs hard, catches the ball pretty well, and gives nothing but effort. If it came down to it, to be honest, I would cut Jones before Peterson or Wolfe. They both have a little more versatility than Jones.

I would prefer all four…

Ugghhhh...

I wish we didn’t have to keep Bullocks or Steltz. Our secondary is a garbage factory.

Bullocks Goes Nowhere

He is a Veteran that provides depth. I think Kevin Jones or Wolfe are gone. I’m pretty sure it’s Wolfe. Rideau ios gone. McBride gone. Freeman, Malast, gone.

Are You Serious BearNecessities?

I stated on my post EITHER Kevin Jones or Wolfe would be cut. I posted that prior to the game between the Bears and Browns last night. On the day after the game Kevin Jones is out for the year with an injury. You make a post BearNecessities the day after Jones injury that Wolfe will not be cut. Really dude? Wow! what a revelation. Any respect I had for you is now gone. What a joke.

Accurate List

- I predict we keep all 4 backs. If one goes its Peterson but his ST play keeps him on the squad.
- Rideau is a fight but it is time to say good bye. TD tonight won’t change that
- Neither Steltz or Bullocks impress me so it is a coin flip there
- Freeman can make practice squad

I would say

It may be hard but I say at running back we got our answer tonite i havent been impressed with jones at all. I think if I remember right all backup rbs had a fumble im not sure Petterson but K jones is over rated I say let wolf an Petterson share number 2 unles one makes it clear. Its seems like Bear players who get injured stay injured, so with that in mind I say cut jones. Forte will have less of a load with just having Cutler now. Knox looks like the real deal this may sound crazy but it would be great to keep all WR I think they all have mad potential Im almost willing to say put Hester back at full time return man.
